Good evening and welcome to the AC360 Academy Awards Live Blog. The winners, the losers, Jack Nicholson’s sunglasses…we’ve got your running commentary. And sure, considering all that’s going on in the world, the Oscars aren’t hugely important. But if you’re looking to get away from the bleak news-of-the-day for a few hours, then this blog is the place for you.
We should also point out that we’re not encouraging you to change the channel from CNN, but if you’re going to watch the Oscars anyway, you might as well watch them with us.
And even if you’re not watching them, because of your feud with Kate Winslet or whatever, we think you’ll still enjoy the live blog. I’ll be with you from 8:00pm Eastern Time until the Oscars finish airing here in New York.

And yeah, the Snuggie would be scary, but all I can hear is: "What are you wearing?" "A snuggie!"

Slumdog has some tough competition. I think that The Wrestler is going to steal away an oscar award for Best Film because that movie was nice. But then again, so was the movie Milk.

@ashley – Embarassed to admit this, but all time fav movie has to be Seven brides for Seven Brothers – (not sure why, but watching this old classic always puts a smile on my face)

I loved SJP's dress and Anne Hathaway's gown. Also Angelina Jolie's dress was classy and perfect in my opinion. My favorite though remains Anne Hathaway's Armani from the Emmy's.

My predictions and my choices are not all in agreement:
I'd like to see "The Reader" and Stephen Daldry win for picture and director, but I know that "Slumdog Millionaire" and Danny Boyle will win. I think that Mickey Rourke and Kate Winslet will win in the best actor/actress categories and Heath Ledger Viola Davis for the supporting roles.
Ok, Jack... I concede. Just checked the site, and it does explicitly say 8PM. My utmost apologies. 😛

No Ashley I wouldn't pay to see someone walk down the Red Carpet in a Snuggie. I am so sick of seeing Snuggie i don't know what to do.

Did anyone see Jessica Biel's dress? The top part of it looks like the outfit that Ariel from the Little Mermaid had on after she got legs walking out of the ocean, not something I would put on the red carpet

I have to say that I thought Marisa's dress was hideous...
The color scheme this year is muted light whit beige but Angelina looked great in black and Miley looked good too

The Visitor's lead actor for an Oscar? Umm... not so sure. I loved the movie, but I don't think the actor is Oscar worthy. I just don't want Mickey Rourke to win.
