Jack Gray
AC360 Producer/Writer
Good evening and welcome to the AC360 Academy Awards Live Blog. The winners, the losers, Jack Nicholson’s sunglasses…we’ve got your running commentary. And sure, considering all that’s going on in the world, the Oscars aren’t hugely important. But if you’re looking to get away from the bleak news-of-the-day for a few hours, then this blog is the place for you.
We should also point out that we’re not encouraging you to change the channel from CNN, but if you’re going to watch the Oscars anyway, you might as well watch them with us.
And even if you’re not watching them, because of your feud with Kate Winslet or whatever, we think you’ll still enjoy the live blog. I’ll be with you from 8:00pm Eastern Time until the Oscars finish airing here in New York.
If you would like to participate in our Live Blog (and we hope you do) please follow our rules.
Here are some of them:
1) Please keep your comments short
2) Don’t write in ALL CAPS (we don’t like screaming)
3) Use your real name
Please note that due to volume we may not be able to post all comments.

Anderson Cooper goes beyond the headlines to tell stories from many points of view, so you can make up your own mind about the news. Tune in weeknights at 8 and 10 ET on CNN.

What happened to the nude Hugh Jackman? He was great anyway. It's finally over. Goodnight ALL. Class tomorrow. Not till 2pm though. See the best bloggers in the world tomorrow!
Can't wait for the Taking of Pelhem 123 comes out. Huge Denzel fan.

Goodnight , that's a wrap.
I wish the little kids could've talked, just because they're adorable.
When's the blog closing?
Good for Slumdog 🙂
Goodnight folks, its been long but fun. Thanks for the live Blog Jack.
Well, no surprise that Slumdog won! Still haven't seen the pic yet but looks like I need too now!
Thanks Jack, Anderson, Erica for letting us LIVE blog tonight. It was fun and I think we hit a record for # of comments in one night!
To the rest of the bloggers, it was fun chatting with you! Nite all!
Well this was lovely. My dog is pacing though, she really needs to go outside. So goodnight everyone!

Anderson – it was cool that you came to hang with us. Hope you got your piece written.
Slumdog Millionaire is a great movie. Just keep your expectations realistic. Thanks for joining in everyone. Have a good night!
LIke I said, I think "Slumdog" was O.K. but it seemed a little lighweight compared to the other nominees.
Goodnight Ashley!!! Just think, in 22 hours, we'll be back here again! I can't wait!
Anderson Cooper,
Your favorite movie won! Cool! 🙂
I don't believe they play loud music to boot you off if you go political. I think they only do it if you go too long
final goodnites all.
again, thanks jack.
I guess that's it. Thank you and good night 🙂
Slumdog Millionaire seven wins! This is their evening!
Maybe I should actually see Slumdog Millionaire. Inspired "Mad Love" as that man just put it.
Vanessa...I was with you! I wish Frost/Nixon had won. I haven't seen Slumdog Millionaire so I don't know how good it is but I must say that I hate it when football games are one sided and the same theory applies to award shows...
So since this has run over by about 30 minutes, do we still get to see the Barbara Walter's Special here on the west coast?
Yeah, Slumdog won!
Good night to all - Jack and Fellow Bloggers.
Thanks for doing this, Jack. I appreciate it and it was fun. Now go walk Sammy and appologize for all of us.
Ok Jack, you can now get ready to reprieve your dog. Goodnight!
Ok, I need to see Slumdog now.
I thought the little kids were the best actors in Slumdog. I loved them.
Well you didn't have to be a psychic to predict that one... although from that montage should mention going back to best move of all time earlier tonight, "Good Will Hunting" ranks right up there
Well, that was obvious.
Thanks for the blog Jack!
Night all!
Slumdog Millionaire – 8 oscars!
Shillie, The previews for "Angels and Demons" look good, but that doesn't mean much. It was an excellent book and I am excited about seeing it, but I know I will be a little disappointed.
Yay Slumdog!!!
Of Course Slumdog! I'm a little mad that Frost/Nixon didn't win anything, but it's cool. This was Slumdog's year I guess.
YES!!! Slumdog for the absolute win!
Wow, I should have put money on my picks! :o)
Is slumdog that good of a movie
It's official. Slumdog kicked butt.
SLUMDOG! =DDD
No surprise that Slumdog wins....
Sean Penn..congratulations...a great surprise ..just thinking Rourke would get it...his speech was so great!
@Jack although Sean probably should have mentioned Harvey, I think his sentiments about equality for all were definitely in keeping with the spirit of Harvey Milk.
This is a given. Slumdog.
Thank you, Esma (Vegan Sis)!
gill I agree its pusing midnight, thats way too long for my taste.
I can already see the front page of the San Francisco Chronicle tomorrow, congratulating Sean Penn & Milk on all the awards. The online paper edition is already up.
That was a good montage.
@ Rikki, well it's also a real quote lol
Jack – I don't think Sean directly thanked Harvey Milk but generalized it by mentioning gay rights, I think???
@ Jack – I do not believe that he did. He was a little "too" focused. LOL
No, Sean didn't say anything directly about Harvey. He will most likely kick himself tomorrow. He did talk about how Harvey would be opposed to the marriage ban.
