Good evening and welcome to the AC360 Academy Awards Live Blog. The winners, the losers, Jack Nicholson’s sunglasses…we’ve got your running commentary. And sure, considering all that’s going on in the world, the Oscars aren’t hugely important. But if you’re looking to get away from the bleak news-of-the-day for a few hours, then this blog is the place for you.
We should also point out that we’re not encouraging you to change the channel from CNN, but if you’re going to watch the Oscars anyway, you might as well watch them with us.
And even if you’re not watching them, because of your feud with Kate Winslet or whatever, we think you’ll still enjoy the live blog. I’ll be with you from 8:00pm Eastern Time until the Oscars finish airing here in New York.

I can't believe the amount of talent on that stage right now. Ben Kingsley is amazing.
I really hope Sean Penn wins. But I think Mickey Rourke might.
BTW, my favorite "I Love Lucy" segment is when she stomps grapes with the Italians! Hilarious!

Another great group of presenters. I was walking back from the gym a few weeks ago and saw Mr. DeNiro reading the paper at a cafe. I almost fell down.
Michelle I think books usually are better than the films also.
The over extended best actress and actor presentations are actually very touching.

I'm so happy Kate finally got the recognition she deserves.

From what I understand, Nicole Kidman was the first choice to play the part of Hanna Schmitz in "The Reader."
Okay that is my favorite speech of the night.
I wish I could whistle like Kate Winslet's dad. That's why I have trouble hailing a cab. Good win for Kate.
I love how astonished Winslet is when she wins. She's an actual human being.

I didn't really like The Reader...I thought the book was better. But I'm one of those pretentious people who always thinks the book is better.
