Good evening and welcome to the AC360 Academy Awards Live Blog. The winners, the losers, Jack Nicholson’s sunglasses…we’ve got your running commentary. And sure, considering all that’s going on in the world, the Oscars aren’t hugely important. But if you’re looking to get away from the bleak news-of-the-day for a few hours, then this blog is the place for you.
We should also point out that we’re not encouraging you to change the channel from CNN, but if you’re going to watch the Oscars anyway, you might as well watch them with us.
And even if you’re not watching them, because of your feud with Kate Winslet or whatever, we think you’ll still enjoy the live blog. I’ll be with you from 8:00pm Eastern Time until the Oscars finish airing here in New York.

i just got back from Cabellas and having read that jack is sporting a fleece tux, i am having difficulty not imagining some guy with a winchester hunting him! lol
I am curious about Jackman. We'll see if 'Sexy' and 'funny' and 'smart' can be combined. I'm not sure if anyone has that combination down (except you, Jack, of course).
Admittedly, I am going to miss Jon Stewart this year....*sigh*

Oh – I guess I'm just not up on these things. Jack's blog here got me to tune in. The only things I seem to know about celebrities is whatever I see on TMZ – sleaze, shock, & shame.
I do agree that Dark Knight was amazing and Ledger was shockingly amazing. I love dark scary type movies and he played the Joker perfectly. I even saw the movie in the theater twice – which is almost unheard of for me.
Ashley, I'm with you! I am really sick of Slumdog Millionaire and I was really sick of Zac Efron after High School Musical 1!
I'm kinda pulling for Frost/Nixon tonight! I though it was an excellent movie!
I forgot, my "shoes' are fuzzy leopard print slippers.
Michelle, I'd love to go to the Governer's Ball. Earth Wind & Fire are performing there tonight.
Did anyone of you catch the Barbara Walters Special at 7pm Eastern Time? I was digging around on YouTube and came across her famous interview with Katharine Hepburn. Ms. Walters gets a lot of grief for asking the Hepburn what kind of tree she would be, but it was actually Miss Hepburn herself who brought that up. Katharine Hepburn…they don’t make ‘em like that anymore…do they?
Does anyone know who is performing this year? I pray that that's not the reason the high school musical stars are there
Maybe the Jonas Brothers can join on stage with Stevie Wonder for a rousing renditon of Superstiton yikes!!

Everyone blogging seems to be so dressed up – this is'nt "no shoes, no shirt, no service" tonight is it?
Anthony, I don't have snacks I made a dinner for myself. I cooked a whole Chicken marinated with hot sauce, peppers, and onions(mmm), with rice and broccolli on the side. I guess I'll snack on my chewys and fruit cups during the show. I know it will be a long knight.

Any thoughts on the leaked list of oscar winners? Although its known to be a fake, it will be closely compared to today's winners, it would be a shame if it matched exactly!
Viola Davis looks great. I don't think she'll win though. I hope that either Taraji or her win.

Evening everyone... got my martini in one hand, laptop at the ready and looking forward to the glitz/glamour of Oscar – – the funniest comment I've seen so far re: red carpet fashion – from the guardian uk – miley cyrus – "looks like the thunder mountain of doileys" – (oh the humour of the brits!)
