Good evening and welcome to the AC360 Academy Awards Live Blog. The winners, the losers, Jack Nicholson’s sunglasses…we’ve got your running commentary. And sure, considering all that’s going on in the world, the Oscars aren’t hugely important. But if you’re looking to get away from the bleak news-of-the-day for a few hours, then this blog is the place for you.
We should also point out that we’re not encouraging you to change the channel from CNN, but if you’re going to watch the Oscars anyway, you might as well watch them with us.
And even if you’re not watching them, because of your feud with Kate Winslet or whatever, we think you’ll still enjoy the live blog. I’ll be with you from 8:00pm Eastern Time until the Oscars finish airing here in New York.

Totally agree Jack... if they want to make it more entertaining in this new format, they should do the nominee presentations in the style of a "roast" – now THAT would be great entertainment for all viewers.

Ok I have to say that I have never watched the Oscars without turning the channel every couple of mintues, from boredom, and this year I actually watching the whole thing. I like the new format.
i love the fact their using past winners to present the awards, that is great... i believe the academy a bit entertaining this year..

Jack, to continue this is definitely a more lively academy awards show and I am extremely entertained this year compared to the last couple of years.
So, no...I change my mind, I'll give the musical part a 6.5 because the HSM kids didn't really fit in with the number, it was kind weird having them on stage.

Everytime I hear that – I will always think of the President and the First Lady dancing at those numerous balls.
Yes they are livening up the show and I can appreciate it. Usually Oscars don't give me this much to talk about.
That same philosophy should apply to the AC360 crew..a little dance never hurt anybody..so Jack, when are we gonna see you dance on Dance Crew fridays?
