Good evening and welcome to the AC360 Academy Awards Live Blog. The winners, the losers, Jack Nicholson’s sunglasses…we’ve got your running commentary. And sure, considering all that’s going on in the world, the Oscars aren’t hugely important. But if you’re looking to get away from the bleak news-of-the-day for a few hours, then this blog is the place for you.
We should also point out that we’re not encouraging you to change the channel from CNN, but if you’re going to watch the Oscars anyway, you might as well watch them with us.
And even if you’re not watching them, because of your feud with Kate Winslet or whatever, we think you’ll still enjoy the live blog. I’ll be with you from 8:00pm Eastern Time until the Oscars finish airing here in New York.

I love Musicals, this is cool!
Jackman/Beyonce – is the only entertaining event we've seen all night (aside from the pineapple express skit)

@Jack – Yeah! At first I wasn't buying it at first, but now I'm getting into it.
My little gay heart is going to EXPLODE. Musical numbers? At the Oscars? I'm done. This is it. Heaven!
Hugh the Entertainer! And the lady in red – This is a fun number to watch.
i love beyonce... she is always willing to take on new roles and she has become one of the best in my opinion

I totally agree with you, but when you really think about it... actors wouldn't be who they are if it weren't for the work of the crew. Let's face it; who are the kids at HS Musical or Slumdog Millionaire?

Hugh makes me want there to be "X-Men: The Musical." THAT would be awesome. His tribute to musicals was absolutely awesome. "The Prestige" was amazing, probably my favorite movie of his...besides X-Men.
Wow, Beyonce certainly never misses an opportunity to appear on an awards show...
They do plan on ending this show at some point, right? Have we even seen that many awards yet?
James Franco has been in some very good movies in the last year or so. He was great in Milk!

Anderson was prophectic an hour ago. This show is not good at all. Hugh is doing is best, but it's dull and poorly done. Time to pull out my TIVO of CNN on election night so I can get my AC360/AC fix...

Anybody remember when Roberto Benigni won years back for "Life is Beautiful" and walked on the top of the seats to get to the stage? I want to see something like that.

@EJ: Yes, it's a beer! As a joke, I would always give my brother a case of Schlitz Ice (as a joke)...bad tasting and cheap beer.....Yuk!
