Good evening and welcome to the AC360 Academy Awards Live Blog. The winners, the losers, Jack Nicholson’s sunglasses…we’ve got your running commentary. And sure, considering all that’s going on in the world, the Oscars aren’t hugely important. But if you’re looking to get away from the bleak news-of-the-day for a few hours, then this blog is the place for you.
We should also point out that we’re not encouraging you to change the channel from CNN, but if you’re going to watch the Oscars anyway, you might as well watch them with us.
And even if you’re not watching them, because of your feud with Kate Winslet or whatever, we think you’ll still enjoy the live blog. I’ll be with you from 8:00pm Eastern Time until the Oscars finish airing here in New York.

Brandi, You do know that one of Anderson's favorite movies, "Lawrence of Arabia," is more than three hours long don't you?
Actually 'Ironman' had really good chemistry between the main characters. I was impressed.

I like this catagory...good looking men all over the place. And Coldplay!
I'm hoping Kate Winslet gives us the emotional speech of the night.

@Shillie, yes you must try again. Trust me you'll love The Godfather. And once you see the 1st one you have to see the 2nd one. I have to say it is the best sequel I ever seen. Coming in second would be Rocky 2 of course.

I too could not stand Revolutionary Road. I thought some parts were absolutely beautiful, and I wanted so badly to get into the film... but in all, it was just a sad imitation of Mad Men without the wry humor.
No one has broken down and started crying yet, have they? I like a good meltdown to get my Oscar night into a nice groove.
Glad to see NOLA getting some credit this evening.
@JoAnn: Yes, I agree with you; The Dark Knight should have won for art direction. It was a great movie!
@Jack – I think the world just doesn't want to admit that High School Musical is a phenomenon whether they like it or not. But nice conspiracy theory anyway.

I agree Jolene, how could you forget the Horses Head. My mom lived in NY for a while and she used to get scared thinking that the Mafia was coming to get her. LOL She loves Mafia movies to this day, and she got me into them young.
Gosh, the presenters do go on and on. Don't they have sufficient actors to fill in as presenters this year?
you know my speech would consist on "I'll thank everyone in person, with my Oscar" and that's it! UGH these speeches get kinda boring..I wish e=they can keep it simple

Loved it! It's dark and weird – just the type of movie I like.
My friend, journalist and author Michael Hastings, emails me to point out that ABC is owned by Disney, hence the High School Musical stars being there. I love conspiracy theories.
Methinks it is time for a snack. I really want a crilled ham and cheese, but it will take too long. I don't want to miss anything. Pfff....

All right, Oscar admission time: I could not stand Revolutionary Road.
It's nothing like the music that will get you going on your marry way.
I watched every Godfather movie! How could one not forget the infamous "horses head" in the bed scene! All great movies, but then, I'm half Italian and most likely have relatives who were in the mafia so I was intriqued.....what can I say.
If you though Angelina looked uncomfortable when Jennifer Aniston walked out, wait until you see the look on the face when the Octuplet Mom comes out to present Best Publicity Stunt.
She was going to but they didn't want to pay her $2 million for presenting.

After of Nicole Kidman talk that the film is not so good, I discouraged to see, despite being tempted by busted with Jackman in the bath. Lol
"The Duchess" costumes were fantastic!
