9/11 widow killed in plane crash

President Barack Obama on Friday praised Beverly Eckert, the widow of a 9/11 victim and prominent post-9/11 activist, who was one of the passengers who died in a plane crash outside Buffalo, New York.
"Beverly lost her husband on 9/11," Obama said, "and became a tireless advocate for the families whose lives were forever changed on that September day."
A resident of Stamford, Connecticut, Eckert was the widow of Buffalo native Sean Rooney, who died at the World Trade Center.
Obama's words underscored the shock and grief from friends, family and acquaintances over the news that Eckert was aboard the Continental Connection Flight 3407 that crashed, killing all 49 aboard and one on the ground.

Strange! Here in Australia, a widow of the 9/11 catastrophe, was killed in the "Victoria" fires also. Very tragic!
Mayby their was higher power at work,.but i am verry sorry.she survived this tragedy death of her husband,she helped so many people in the some situtaion like her,the wold will miss her

A wonderful AC360 piece on Beverly Eckert tonight. I think, not only to the many, many Upstate, NY fans of Chuck Mangione's band, but to jazz lovers everywhere, the death of Gerry Niewood, a wonderful musican, is just a terrible thing. Since his undergraduate days at Eastman School with Chuck in Rochester, Gerry has been a powerful force for loyalty and good in the world.

I believe there are certain events that indicate the presence of a higher power at work, and this is one of them. This fine woman who worked so hard for the memory of her husband and the day that changed the world forever is now reunited with him.

I heard early this morning that Beverly Eckert was killed in the crash and that she was a 9/11 widow. What a terrible loss for a family who had already suffered an equally terrible loss when Beverly's husband Sean died. Her efforts for the greater good will be missed but she will be missed most of all – my condolences to her family.
