Btw Megan Also I think the tax breaks could be given to tax payers all at once instead of over a whole year, but there is massive spending in this bill that will help to stimulate the economy.

Good night Megan. Good night everyone.

Most of the people in washington are lawyers who have little understanding of financial statements, budgets, accounting rules etc. etc. The banking hearing was an example. Stupid questions and redundancy. As a result they have little understanding of what really should be done. I see it on a local level as well. It will take a real financial crisis before a major change will occur. I had hoped this recession would be it and they would wake up. They clearly haven't. It looks like it will take something more severe if you can imagine that.

@ savannah–I know where you're coming from. Isn't it funny how most people want to ignore such an horrific act just because they don't want to face the darker facets of life?

I think the Civil War can be a great comparison to the economy right now. There are some many jobs that are being lost and in the 1860s the Union and the Confederacy lost so many souls. There is also the point to make where the Union was better off than the South just like how there are some places in the country today that is less affected by the economy than others. there needs to be a grouping for some of these stimulus plan or else they won't even work.

I know it is really an outdated concept, but what about a little comapssion for folks....the Octomom, Phelps, and others...our human fraility has caused us to stumble along the way so perhaps it is better to love than judge. Yes, even Chris Brown needs understanding–not the Rihanna should stay with him, just some understanding and a little help. No matter who we are, we have all got a little help from time to time–should we pay that forward?

    Hello Anderson

Mr. Greggs departure is very unfortunate. If he were really concerned about country he would have made the sacrifice our service members make every day. The message it sends is simply not to support the President. There were no complaints as the previous administration put us in this condition. People are dying, homes are being lost, people are losing their jobs, and all the Republicans can say is stop him. Pray for us and them is all I can say.

MAN, that picture of Octo-Franken mom is so scary. Her poor belly is literally screaming bloody murder. It looks disgusting.

I will admit that the death threats are a little too far, but I can understand why so many people are angry.

    She is a MOOCHER!

If only the government that can break the vicious cycle where the loss of employment leads people to spend less money, the which leads to even more layoffs, the people must fight for the
Package Economic, vehemently, united to the President.

Yes, I'm done hearing about Nadia and her 14 children. We know enough. While I have a hard time agreeing that what she did is right, we all make mistakes. She shouldn't be praised, but she should not be slandered with rumors of plastic surgery and headlines like "baby crazy". Leave her to deal with it in private. It's becoming too sensationalized. I think CNN (and probably all networks) are getting a little trashy on this topic. But I've always felt CNN was above this type of reporting. Could it not be a coincidence that she looks like Angelina Jolie? Until you know that is not the case, leave these speculative rumors to networks with less integrity.

Does Phelp be in this much trouble because he is the Olympic Hero?
I do not think it is fair for him, though.

About octomom, that belly is scarier than I imagine. It will be so sad if the babies are taken away be the child care, but it may be better for them.

If everybody keeps fighting everything the Prez tries to do, to help all of us, he's going to give up, and than the people are going to give up on believing things are going to get better and before we enter college the US is going to be full of empty, angry old people. The young folks are going to immigrate to other countries.

“That person got it right. It’s the House Democrats who fired the shot across the bow.”

I look forward to the day when we have a President from a third (Independent) party. That would give the Dems and the GOP something to buzz around in their hives about, equally. There ALL to blame!

Is it really necessary to be breathlessly standing by to watch Obama walk down the stairs of Air Force 1 live? I mean, come on, that's not exactly news. Covering the President if fine, but this is taking it a bit too far, calling it "breaking news" waiting for the President to walk down the stairs.

    @ Scott Hazard

You are absolutely correct: a tax cut is NO DIFFERENT than taxing people and giving it back with NO OVERSIGHT. The difference is subtle. The GOP wants tax cuts because the money never enters Obama's or the congressional Dem's hands...thus, they have no chance to use it to further their agenda, which allows the Reps to claim they did nothing. If it comes into their hands, conditions can be placed on it when it is given back. Obama has made clear that will happen...and the Reps cannot let it because it might actually work.
