Phil Gordon
The Arizona Republic
My disagreements with the sheriff are about professional decisions and public safety. Our shared goal has to be the safety of our community. And, from the beginning, I have respectfully asked the sheriff to do three things to help ensure the safest possible community for us all.
First, I have asked him to simply do what the Phoenix Police Department does: cooperate with other local law enforcement jurisdictions. Let the various police departments know exactly what he is doing. Plan with them. Share information and resources. Don't jeopardize ongoing undercover operations. Don't put deputies, other officers and the public at increased risk.

Sheriff Joe is my hero. Enforces the law. Who would have thought we could ever have a person of authority enforcing the laws? He is popular in Arizona and has been reelected again and again. It's that 1% of the people who hate him and make him look like he is a meanie.
It's like the "Under god" in the pledge. This country is a Christian country and most of us believe in god and like the pledge the way it is. It's that annoying 5% percent who want it out. Trying to make us, change us, annoy us, destroy us.
Sheriff Joe gets things DONE and he doesn't care what opinions people have of him. Mayor Gordon is a "yes man" and too pc. PC doesn't work when your city is over run with illegal aliens breaking the law (illegal hello!) As a resident of Phoenix I applaud Sheriff
Joe and will continue to support him. I have friends in L.A. that would love to have a sheriff like ours. All these whining (mostly liberal) sheep need to get a clue.
Sheriff Joe Arpaio is a hero in my book. As a former resident of AZ, I applaud what he has done for Maricopa County. I love his tent cities (why should taxpayers foot the bill for a prison – prison is not a hotel) and his chain gang to make these criminals give back to society. He's an innovative Sheriff in a nation of pansies who have started catering to criminals and giving them cushy jail cells with TV.
