Time for a March on |Washington. The Partisan politics of the Repugs has got to stop. What they will try to play tomorrow even thought they were never going to vote for the bill is ...well Barack was Partisan so we can't vote. |BS..... They tried to play this with Nancy Pelosi. Are we dealing with children or adults. Many of the Repugs act like children. Get the peoples work done. |Stop the nonsense. |Get the |Bill passed.

The more I think about what is going on at Congress and coming from a "republican" state, I am very disappointed by the Republican's lack of cooperation and playing politics while so many people are hurting. I will certainly remember this at the next election.

SEC hearing was breathtaking as it pointed out what a profound failure they have been for years. Funny that Martha Stewart got "caught" while all of this other fraud was overlooked and ignored.

"Pile of dung"? I love this Ackerman guy! They should put his rant to music (like Christian Bale) and start a dance craze! At least he's making some good points!

what a great whistle blower – this guy is unreal...animated, entertaining and just a pure delight to watch, the entire hearing was just extremely good "show", and they say politics is boring...

Good for Ackerman. Granted, he's incredibly amusing, but he isn't taking any crap from anyone. About time we had someone on our side!

The crew was great, but what I hear from the air traffic controllers, they too were keeping their cool. Imagine what they were thinking when they hear the engines are out and he's landing in the hudson. Then hearing that he's landed and they are all getting out? I'd love to hear from them and what they were thinking at that time.

The American people have shown we are behind Obama. The republicans seem to want to play typical politics. These are extreme times and call for extreme measures. I hope some where here they take a step back a look at the big picture. Clearly action is called for – the sooner the better – Go Obama.

I second Steves motion, cut the salaries of Senate until the vote one way or the other on all bills related to the failing econmic times that we are experiencing.

Ever;yone in the SEC need to be fired. They have gotten too comfortable in their jobs and can't recognize fraud if it slapped them!

If another 24 or 48 hours results in a bill with the same stimuls effect and $100-$200 billion less cost (pork) why not give it that time. This is a blind stampede just like the TARP mess.

people. read the stimulus package you are going to pay for!
only 3% is towards jobs. the rest is for goverment porks. read it please.
obama can say what he knows you want to hear but trust in common sense he's all politics. and he should remember talk is free but to walk the walk is character! you should get informed in the print of this package, it's a stimulus for the party not the people.

What makes the repubs. fell like they are experts on fixing the economy, isn't the reason we're in this peril because of the failed economic policies of the past 8 yrs. I'm behind Pres. Obama 100% and the repubs. need to give him a chance, they've already made changes to the package now let's do this NOW and get this package passed, every minuite counts.

Bush put folks who were polifical friends in jobs, not folks who were competent. and independent. That's what went wrong with the Madoff scheme.

here's an idea 4 the stimulus package =$900 trillion/300 million (us population) = $3,000 for every man, woman & child – not allowed to save, pay off bills, spend the rest = stimulation!

    February 5, 2009 at 10:45 pm |

Bea, I really like that comment: "tax cuts _are_ pork".

Way to go Mr. President. You brought the smackdown to Washington. They can definitely Smell What You are Cooking. Bipartisanship is the direction to go in...but I'm glad it is done with the understanding that it will be achieved overtime. America has been waiting for you!!!!! Buckle up Washington.....we're riding on the Obama Express!!!!!......and it's going to be one heck of a ride.........all the way to the bank. Kudos Mr. President.

Anderson, my concern is long-term after-affects of persons who never recover financially, especially persons who lose their home in foreclosure, then prices go-up. For whatever they will never ever own a home again, I was just thinking to for-warn this, financial grieve can be devestating to some people. Will there be psychological help for these people, so they need not have to suffer depression, needlessly, over financial loss?

    February 5, 2009 at 10:44 pm |
  43. CurtisJo

    I absolutely LOVE that whistleblower!!!!

    February 5, 2009 at 10:44 pm |
  44. Leslie

Please excuse my ignorance. Is this the same type of plan that Bush put into action? I guess I didn't get that whole idea either. I mean we get a check to boost the economy, right? But most of our products that we purchase are not made by Americans in American. And then we had to claim the check that we got on our taxes this year....
    I am sooo confused.

    February 5, 2009 at 10:44 pm |
  45. Jody, Michigan

So, if Obama threw every member of Congress in the running for an appointment of some sort (we can create some just for fun) and they all started writing checks for what they owe in back taxes, we may not even need this gold lined stimulous package. Let's collect all the back taxes and yes, the due fees and penalties...we may be able to shave this right down to nothing.

All together now..."I plea no contest"...translation? you got me but I am NOT going to admit to it.

@Minou...therre is a diferent standard for athletes. Their whole being and careers are based (essentially) on their physical attributes. That is HOW their body functions, as opposed to celebrities who depend on WHAT thier body looks like.

Nobody can prove a damn thing with Michael Phelps. A picture is not enough to punish or penalize someone.

  49. Daisy21

    Bonnie,

Yes, you are right. The Dems did vote for the last stimulus bill last fall.
Mr. Obama doesn't need Republicans to vote for this. He's got big majorities. what he is looking for is cover in case it doesn't work. That way he can claim that it is not the Democrat's fault - -even Republicans voted for it.
