Michelle Obama is not a role model for all women. She represents one segment, the ones who have married, have children and have put their careers on hold for their husbands repeatedly. because their husbands desired that. She is an amazing parent, I'll give her that.

Yes, David, Obama's on the right track and not a moment too soon. Too bad the Republican president didn't think of that when he and his party said the 'sky was falling.'

It is patently absurd that Wall Street firms could reward themselves with $18.4 billion in bonuses after causing the financial system to implode. If these companies need to repair their balance sheets and their capital base, this money should have been used for those purposes. For company's that paid these bonuses but also took taxpayer money, the government should demand its money back RIGHT now unless these companies get these bonus dollars back. This is not funny; these are serious dollars that Wall Street is again ROBBING from ordinary taxpayers across the country. The executives of these companies also should be fired - they have shown they do not know anything about taking responsibility for their actions or showing any understanding of their fiduciary responsibilties, or for being good stewards of taxpayer dollars. They only think of themselves.

John Thain should be arrested and throw in Jail

Someone said they never heard Cheney before. Huh? He is the evil brains behind all the horrible situations the USA has gotten into over the last several years. George wasn't bright, he let Cheney run everything behind the scenes. Cheney is just _________.
Like I've been saying, send him somewhere where there is no outside communication. Also send Blago and Sarah.

Just like Jacqueline, of NY, is evryone just devoid of IQ or attention span, or intellect, or reading ability that they do not understand that Obama's descriptions of where we are are absolutely accurate and correct! Everyone better get out of the conditioned buying the old Republican propaganda mode and wake up quick and get behind this man so we can get moving, and in the right directions, not the Republican right's proven wrong directions and bankrupt ideas!!!

David Gergen: What about compromise on the Republicans part?

They do not want to compromise but to have everything that they did before to help cause this mess to be in the bill. They are not one bit concerned about the economy but to play politics and go to the willing press to emphasize small things and to spread half truths and lies.

When was the last story about the stimulous package that 360 has presented that showed a positive?

    February 4, 2009 at 10:53 pm |
  17. Rikki, Fargo, ND

Ashley, you picked up on that too? 'Why not' I guess when you think about it...Joe the Plumber can be our comic relief in the midst of all the serious stuff going on! BTW...did your first televised TV interview go well?

    February 4, 2009 at 10:52 pm |
  18. Shina

    Hi all

I honestly hope the stimulus passes. You guys, this will create jobs and help banks to stop hoarding money. and start lending again.

What is Dick Cheney talking about. This guy seems to think that everything has to be solved through war and dictatorship. Please CNN , we dont care about anything he has to say. GO AWAY Cheney

Why the coverage of Joe the Plumber [his 15 minutes are over as Anderson plainly stated : 'don't know why we are running this'. Me neither! Why did you?

LOL Anderson, I knew that was a joke about the croquet, but picturing it was rather chuckle-worthy. Little cold for croquet.

Night all, thanks for the fun, information and great convo as always.

    Rest well all.

Anderson, you and Erica & David G. sure make the world a brighter place. You are all very sweet people.

I can't believe what came out of Jamal's mouth. Because Obama was elected, so everyone should just give him what he wants? Entitlement thinking does not equal competence or leadership. Obama will have to prove himself, or not, just like the 43 before him.

Why can't Cheney follow Michael Jackson's footsteps... by an estate in Bahrain with trillions he has earned from Iraq and live like a King... highly unlikely but if it was to happen, it would be good ridence... lol...

I have been taught that the goverment is for the people, Since the congress allowed the bail out money to be used for bounces by not protecting the american people, The congress should give there pay checks back to the people untill the money is payed back.
this would also cut goverment spending very effective.

It is not illegal to stipulate how much someone at a company can make if they are loaning them money. When I apply for loans to go to college they ask this same thing and if i make too much to their standards , I do not get the loan.

I want a pie chart of exactly what is included in the package – the simple version), a list of each recipient of the bail out money and I want to know what happens to the money when the companies pay it back?

More help, less pork. In order for this change to occur, we all have to be a part of it –

    February 4, 2009 at 10:51 pm |
  26. Mike, Syracuse NY

@David, the first bailout was overwhelmingly opposed by Republicans. It was passed without safeguards in the bill by the Democrats. It was a bad bill that was rushed through in a panic. An important lesson I hope we have learned for this time.

With the new salary caps we will see a whole new group of smart, innovative problem solvers who are not greedy and are just as capable. These people would likely never have had this opportunity because they have integrity and wouldn't have been considered. Those days are gone and I think we'll be just fine.

anderson: that wasnt you we saw brunching on tea and crumpets with the First Lady right after she won the game of croquet?

  30. Eric from Omaha

Kandy K: WOW. Thanks for sharing what you've seen and heard. Insightful and factual. Gives credence to my belief that the republicans are whining and obsessing on tax cuts. Not really doing anything to help dialogue to figure this out!!!
PS Anderson–Have to comment that I noticed the shirt print. Big diversion for you-looks good.

I think and believe that Michelle Obama will do a good job at whatever initiative or policy she decides to work at. She has such an air around her that is infectious in a positive way.

I am in now way taking up for Cheney but I will say I don't think Obama is really aware of the way these people think he seems to think a cup of tea and cookies over some small talk and all solved!

Like I said they do not think like us nor do they like us!

And as for Cheney he did a bad job no doubt but everyone before him should have been aware of the threat of 911 YEARS before it happened, don't blame that on one administration People!!!

They have ALL failed in that respect!

Mr. Cheney insisted that we would be done in Iraq quickly, he sontinued to say that saddam was involved with 9/11 when he wasn't. He is a untrustworthy lying person. He should move akk the way back to wyoming and disappear. He's probably love us getting attacked just to be right.
That guy should have stopped talking on the phone and cooperated with police then they wouldn't have maced him.

I worked for BOA and talk about wasting money. Jobs need to be brought back to the USA. Corporations are sending alot of jobs to
India. If the funds for bail out are not being used properly they need to be paid back so us tax payers are not paying the big guys I am now also out of a job. What is this country coming too. My thought and prayers are with all of us.

I do not agree with the stimulus package. Why would we need the family planning/birth control etc in there? The parents should handle that if they are worthy.
If you want this to pass you should have things that create new jobs within 6 months and tax cuts that are starting now, the rest can be mulled over later.

In the battle against terrorism, Cheney is one of the first people we should put a gag order on. He is trying to terrorize the American people in order to undermine our current administration and justify his own abominal record. He will stop at nothing for his own gain.

    February 4, 2009 at 10:47 pm |
  48. Alison G.

Hey Cheney, in case you weren't watching the elections, your reign of terror is over now. Please just go away. Far, far away.
