Re Joe the Plumber – Erika – How dare you say you can't believe his "15 minutes" isn't over yet as you are running a piece keeping it going ? Pull the plug.

If you need to ask why Joe the Plumber is still getting attention, you need look no farther than the mirror. It is YOU who is giving him a platform, and attention. Tonight you gave him 1/60 of your show. Surely, there is someone else on this planet who is more deserving of your valuable time!

I agree 100% with President Obama regarding the capping of executives pay who were included in the bailout. This country is carried on the backs of the laborers and tax payers, and us little people get no relief. How could they possibly think its ok to use our money to give bonuses amongst themselves and we suffer. Something has to be done and this is a start. Too bad there werent more stringent guidlines given to these companies when the bail outs were given!

Middle and lower management usually run these companies and are the reason they don't go under even more quickly than they did.The CEOes keep saying they never saw it coming or they did not understand derivitives(sic) so why are they still there? Hire someone in middle management who probably did understand and the company will come back twice as fast.

When Dick Cheney was rolled in on inauguration day, a person in our group watching remarked, "there's Mr. Potter". Mr Cheney's comments today unscores this. I guess this makes President Obama a George Bailey -type. The economy sucks but it still a wonderful life.

as he did in his campaign, the president is counting on his refreshing all inclusive intention to represent equally all americans, all political pursations. He is looking more like a star and less like a good actor. Mr. Obama (and know that I love him and his dream) has to write a tight baillout package which is limited to an essay outline to make clear the bailout inclusions, not the details, ie biggest share to creating jobs, next to help troubled homeowners which will work also to shore up the banks by giving much needed loan money, write new loan rules to avoid a replay like wall street, etc.

Why is the media covering Dick Cheney now, you guys never reported anything that The Bush administration was doing until now, we the American public had to do our own research on what was going on, now you want to resport if President Obama is constipated or not and how many rolls of toliet paper he uses. What a double standard he has only been in office 3 weeks and you guys are all over him. The truth is American wants him to fail because he is a Black Man. That is why you hang on his every breath waiting for a screw up. Tell dick cheney to go home and take a bath and relax and think about why he shot that man, I'll bet we never got news coverage on that did we, if it were a Black man he would be sentenced to Gitmo

"The American public doesn't deserve me?" Joe the Plumber clearly continues to misunderstand the issues facing the American public - in hard times like these, we deserve some much needed comic relief, and no one provides it better than Joe...

I am watching 360 now and they are quoting VP Cheney and his interview with Politico. He says we can't just let these guys go.(NOBODY has proposed that anyway) IF YOU KNEW THE FACTS...blah... blah .. he says... etc
Guess what Dick..WE don't know the Facts... because YOU didn't keep ANY case files for us to look at! How smart is that? You say we don't do it right but nobody on 'your watch' gave us anything to work with... thats just DUMB!
I see Erica Hill had posted just before this. Erica.. have AC or someone at CNN go back to Cheney and ask the BIG question of the VP.

DICK... WHY DIDN'T "YOU"... keep any Case Files. Answer THAT question FIRST !
You didn't leave the Office in good order before you left it looks like to me.

I am outraged to hear that corporation representatives are stating that aquiring the best of talent for their companies will be difficult with the newly imposed cap of $500.000 in annual salary becasue they can't live on that. Everyday citizens have made a good life for themselves earning way less pay. Additionally, we have citizens who are sleeping in subways & on the streets and executives can't live on $500.000 in salary? Huh! I applaud President Obama for taking the brave step he took today.

I moved to the US from a socialist Great Britain where education and healthcare is free.

Now why can't we have a suedo Socialistic / Capital society here in America?

And why do Republicans demonize socialism??

Surely we can take the best of socialism and capitalism together for the betterment of the people!

How dare these big companies ask for a bailout and then reward themselves with a bonus! Why should people be commended for losing a tremendous amount of money/destroying a corporation and causing many more to be out of a job. It's this display of greed that's disgusting and make those who are working extremely hard and thankful we have a job so angry. There should be a cap on salary and they should pay back ever cent that was borrowed before these companies ask for anymore help.

"I don't know if the American public deserves me?"?! wow, there are no words! Anderson and Erica you couldn't have put it any better, his 15 minutes are way past! The whole reason they went to him was to be the average American, I think he went past that point quite a few months ago.

I couldn’t be more proud of my president when I heard about the CEO cap. Why would we give our hard earned tax money to people who made bad decisions in the first place? Giving these people Tax money is like opening the hen house to the snakes, hawks and other predators!

Also, I think Cheney has strength, experience and conviction! I respect him, and believe his reflections on the past and concerns about the future.

If Obama puts a cap on executive pay doesn't that allow him to place a cap on the pay of other's? Wait till the day when the president tells you that your only work 40K and that's it. Welcome to socialism CNN! You asked for it!

    Anderson,

There's definitely no danger the 500k compensation limit will make it difficult to retain "top talent", as you can hardly call a CEO running a company into the ground a "top talent."

Let them apply somewhere else. Would love to see the explainations on their resumes,,,

    Hi All

Okay is it a slow news day or something? I see we are covering idiots like Chaney and that Plumber guy. OMG – Cut It Out.

16 days ago we inaugurated a new President, Barack Obama. Can we give him a chance to make some of the decisions the people trusted him in to do? We were so ready for the past leaders to leave we were besides ourselves. You know some people should loose their right to be covered; Cheney, Joe the Plumber Guy, Sarah Palin, are at least 3. Let all the crazy Republicans living under the fantasy that they are still in charge – go over to that conservative station.

Former V.P Cheney is right, we need to continue any and all policies that protect our country. I do not understand why anyone would want to weaken the U.S. just to be politically correct.

If these CEO's and top Executives are so great at what they do then why did their firms fail? Why should the tax payers reward failure?
If these firms get tax payers money to keep them afloat then they now work for the tax payers!

The Republicans are so divisive, even in a financial crisis and a war. All they care about is their own agenda. We all need to pull together and get over these troubling times. Then, when the dust settles, we can go back to petty, childish "politics as usual".

The salary cap isn't the answer – how can that not disturb US citizens within the framework of free enterprise? And what about the cabinet members that didn't pay their taxes? How are they being treated – with honor – by being in the cabinet. Something is very one-sided here – and Obama's judgement is definitely in question.
