@ David Gergen – Absolutely President Obama is doing the right thing. It should have been done a long time ago, frankly.
No stimulus plan will be perfect across the board, but yes, I would have to say that overall he is headed in the right direction. Balance is the key. It cannot be too heavy in either direction.
Thank you for asking.
I think Obama is finding out that many of the Democrats that supported his candidacy are now expecting favors from him like being able to add unnecessary pork to this stimulus bill.
I happy that the President put his foot down on this CEO pay if you get bailout money. Amen!!!
Hello David Gergen. Rather than the government setting limits, I'd rather see a bill that makes it easier for stockholders to demand accountability on all businesses, not just those taking bailouts.
hi all,
I think cutting the salaries of the ceos down to 500 000 is a good idea since it's borrowed money anyway. it won't impact the economy much, but it's good for our psyche! It shows that the President is in touch with the worries of his ppl, and he takes action!
Hey Team:)
Blogger's 🙂
Anderson I wanna laugh!!!
Miranda
Happy to here that there is progress being made on the stimulus bill so that we can take a step twds moving our economy fwd.
David, excellent to have you back!
Yes, that is an extremely wise decision on the part of President Obama. It seems more a reminder of the importance of financial responsibility than anything else.
As for being on the right track with the stimulus plan, I believe he is. I know many would prefer him be a bit more compromising, but I like that he's sticking to it. I'm looking very forward to seeing this pass within the week.
Hey all! Hey David. Yes I think the President did the right thing by limiting the salaries of the companies that receive tax payer dollars. In regards to the stimulus plan, he's on the right track, but he needs to break it down more to the american people so that we understand how this plan will really work for us.
Hello bloggers! I say pass the stimulus package already and let's move forward. Obama tends to think it will work, we won't know until we try.
@ David Gergen Yes the Presidenty is doing the right thing by limiting the salries ot ceo'exces it's not fair they have the money to afgford innsurance health care the average person middle class can not what's wrong with that picture?
Thank goodness the grown ups are stepping up
to the plate. Americans want a stimulus. Come
those job numbers on Friday everyone will know
the deal.
Mr. Gergen, its good to see you joining us this evening! I do think that limiting the salaries of execs that get federal bailout money. They need to be held accountable and they need to take a hit with the rest of us. I do think that President Obama is on the right track with the stimulus but I think that it does need some work.
Hey Anderson, thanks for asking the President yesterday, whether he believes the republicans were beating him at selling the stimulus package. That must have woken them up abit.
I dont think president is in the right track witht he stimulus plan
Hi Anderson, Erica and best bloggers. I am glad POUS Obama has put his foot down. We do not need more of the same tax cuts we have had for the last 7 years.
Good evening and happy Wednesday (is it Wednesday already?) Cooper, Hill, Gergen, contributers, correspondents, bloggers, (welcome back Brandi), and AC360 staff and team. Whew!!
Does anybody else find the use of the visual aides in Congress completely hysterical? I've seen a lot of it over time....it's amusing.
marmot... so cute!
Hi Brandi et al. Question for you all-with all the tax cut chatter, where is the notion of redefining the tax code. Sending me a check is great but that's not a tax cut-adjust the code by which we abide for taxes. Am I off base fellow bloggers???
Obama's cap on ceo pay is unconstitutional.
Hey Brandi!!!
Welcome back!!!!!! missed ya!!! 😀
Welcome Home Anderson i posted that earlier but it didn't get through great job last night.
Go John McCain, give them grief on all this pork!
Hope we dont need any stimulus because we can manage any ups and down and let them do some important work to fix this country and also for fixing this infrastructure.
Greetings all. Great breaking news there ..the possibilty of a positive Senate vote. This will bode well for Obama who seems to be ramping up the heat on members on both sides of the isle.
How does a person that has been foclosed on because of this economy be able to buy a house, shouldn't the credit unions give relaxed credit scores so people with jobs can buy homes again?
Good Evening all! Anderson, Erica, David!
While I'm glad people seem to realize this country is also made up of us "little guys", it's still frustrating to see "the big guys" like CitiBank being bailed out while they're still acting like spoiled children. Many of us who happen to be their best customers are punished by raised interest rates with no warning and, in our case, totally undeserved–apparently to pay for everyone else's sins. Nice that the government finally stepped in to reorient their compass but it's not effective until a year from now! However, still needing their moral compass tuned, the exorbitant paychecks needing to be capped isn't retroactive?
In all fairness, just because Congress votes with the President, it doesn't mean that it is what's best for the country.
Didn't we hear 'the sky is falling' before the bank bailout? As a result a bad bill was rushed through and $350 billion was flushed away. Take the time to get it right.
I'd like to hear about these proposed tax breaks for first-time home buyers that the Senate is offering in its version of the stimulus package. Are there any details available yet?
Hello everyone - So, is the President doing the right thing to limit the salaries of top executives at companies that get future government bailouts? And do you think he is on the right track with the stimulus plan?
Good evening Anderson, Erica and all Bloggers. Hope we all had a good day. Now comes a great show from Anderson, Erica, David and others.
Good evening Bloggers and ACteam, it's been a while. I just hope the stimulus does the work that it is suppose to do.
I am glad to see that President Obama placed a limit on CEOs salaries though I do think that it could have been lower! And I do hope that they find a way of enforcing it!
Evening bloggers. missed you. this is becoming a nice habit. Sounds like this stimulus might be on its way. Tired of the kabitsing in Washington–glad he took the step of limiting CEO accountability of tax dollars.
Good evening everyone!
Hellooo Anderson, Erica, David Gergen, David in IN, Rikki, Ashley, Michelle D, Chris S, and best bloggers!!!!!
Welcome back to anchor in studio NY from Washington!!! I was so amazed you were interviewing our pres. Obama last night!!!! Great job!!!
Evening, everyone!
Anderson, I have a question for you (actually, it's my mom's question). We were under the impression that, like the president, senators had their assets managed by blind trusts and do not see how much money they have, therefore we assumed that their taxes were taken care of for them. If this is the case, how is it that they are under-reporting income, making mistakes on their taxes, etc.?
Welcome home, by the way!
Good evening Anderson, Erica, bloggers, and Brandi (good to have you back)!
I'm seriously hoping this plan passes without further issue.
I thoroughly enjoyed the President's posturing against corporate executives and inappropriate corporate behavior.
Why can't we push off the tax filing deadline for 3 months and allow withdrawals from 401 k without penalty?
Hi Anderson! My question is why Government believes we need this huge bill, and all the debate, when history has shown that big business has squandered American Tax dollars. Why wouldn’t we put the money in this stimulus package back in the hands of the contributors? 30k to each tax payer would allow people to save their homes, buy cars, make investments, and to boost up banks by saving. If big business had to go directly to the American consumer to save their companies, we would have immediate action, as well as demand and jobs to meet that demand.
Thank You.
Good evening Anderson, Erica, and all my fellow bloggers! Hope everyone had a wonderful Wednesday! Welcome back Brandi! Its good to see you!
Welcome back Brandi it's nice to have yoou here tonight!
Can you have Jack Gray fly to Ohio to clean the snow off of my car?
