Cheney warns of new attacks

Former Vice President Dick Cheney warned that there is a “high probability” that terrorists will attempt a catastrophic nuclear or biological attack in coming years, and said he fears the Obama administration’s policies will make it more likely the attempt will succeed.
In an interview Tuesday with Politico, Cheney unyieldingly defended the Bush administration’s support for the Guantanamo Bay prison and coercive interrogation of terrorism suspects.
And he asserted that President Obama will either backtrack on his stated intentions to end those policies or put the country at risk in ways more severe than most Americans — and, he charged, many members of Obama’s own team — understand.

We regressed as a country under Cheney. It’s imperative that we move forward again.
What a coincidence, about a week ago blackwater's contracts were not renewed in a couple of countries; now Cheney's spewing venom. His timing is impecable.
I wish that that box he was moving from the v.p house would of dropped on his mouth.The only thing he talks about is war and distruction,he doesn't no anything else.Obama is trying make peace in the world and this fool is trying to cause conflict.SATIN-SATIN-SATIN.We lost FATHERS,BROTHERS,SONS in this war, for what? the person who hit us on 9/11 wasn't even brought to justice and this fool is trying to take credit for keeping us safe.The whole world is looking down at us.I know BUSH and DICK wants us to get hit again,and the GOP lines up behind and support them.these are the people who has american flags flying infront of there houses.
Did anyone see the footage on CNN last night where Cheney was being wheel chaired out of his office – if knew I looked that EVIL, I would've killed myself or at least gone in to some wilderness where I would not have to see anyone except for animals and more importantly, I would not have a mirror to look at my own face and the evilness it depicted..... lol!! But seriously, what a sorry man this person is.
Don't give Cheney or his "Gang of Four" anylonger their voice, or your microphon, please! Cheney, Bush, Rice, Rumsfeld, all of them have been lying, cheating to your nation over 8 years. Take them to court, give them a life-sentence, put them in prison for lying, cheating to the U.S.A. nation and the world. They have put your country in the worst mess economically, financially, politically since world-war II. And that is, what NOW you have to put straight, in the interest of each American citycen, and the world of which you are an important part.

There are probably two motivations for Dick's comments yesterday.
One, he may be trying to justify the recently reported numbers of Iraqi Civilian Deaths since this invasion was initiated by the Bush administration. Close to 100,000 if I understand correctly. About 1/6 of the reported number of deaths attributed to Sadam Hussein himself.
Two, Dick has interest in companies with defense contracts, right? If this is still the case, he is trying to keep the fear level high and thus the demand for his companies services for years to come. Whatever his motivations, noone really believes it is out of any concern for his fellow Americans.
As a voter and a concerned citizen, I would advise President Obama to make sure Vice-President Dick Cheney be in a disclosed location at all times. I find it awfully strange that a warning comes at a time such as thiswhen the world at large is struggling with its economic woes-Be VERY VERY CAREFUL!!!! watch for distractions???
What's behind Chaney's slam? Chaney needs to take some antidepressants. A depressive disorder does not a policy make. I 'm surprised that he thinks it wise to ride in a car since there are so many car accidents. We must all choose how we will live our lives in a world of risk. President Obama has not laid off the military and CIA. He just chooses not to let fear overwhelm all else. Talk about protectionism – Chaney sees the danger of it in economics, but is oblivious to its dangers in building bunkers around ourselves, seeing an enemy behind every bush. We could choose to live in unground shelters, distrust everyone, and give up the all rights for the sole purpose of living a lone life of fear, but the American people have never choose to live in the bunkers. We voted to live above ground.
RE: Guantánamo Bay & recidivism rates
Hey this great idea beats water boarding and after all Obama went to Harvard, let's give this a Voluntary try in Guantánamo Bay, if they are Afgan's they may enjoy the near poppy experience!

Dick Cheney has many years of political/public experience. He knows his history. America has always been attacked when the Democrats are in office (Pearl Harbor, Iran hostages, etc.) It will happen.
If you were getting brain surgery would you want a doctor that has 8 years experience doing it, or a new college graduate. My point is that sometimes things aren't always as they appear on the surface. Please be careful with the criticism until you have all the facts. I also think we may have gone over the edge in the last 8 years, but what don't I know has been classified by the same people. The oversight has 2 people involved. We are getting ready to do the same thing with our new President and Vice President.
We have to have faith and trust, and hopefully the country will be a safe place to live.
I agree with Mr. Cheney's assertion that the policy's of the Bush administration after 9-11 have kept us safe and that the possibility that the current president's willingness to weaken those policy's will make the United States vulnerable to future terrorist attacks.
What arrogance of Cheney to spout out that supposed warning! Doesn't he get it? We don't have to listen to his evil anymore.
I hope CNN will think more carefully before they broadcast (as they tend to repeat "Breaking News" again and again, endlessly)...anything else by that horrible man.
We finally have an Intelligent, Thoughtful, and Compassionate President working on our behalf in the White House now, thank you very much..
here we go again. America now faces a non existen threat from "terrorists" just like Saddam had non existent Weapons of of mass desrtuction. QED he and bush were right there is a war on terror and terrorists. If your ports, airports, and border stations as a start cannot detect fissile uranium undeclared on the manifests, what is homeland security doing. If a back road is found, it should be by people on the watch list and they should be caught.
No system of protection will ( homeland security) will ever be perfect, but continuing the war on terror has also failed for the last 8 years.
Isit worth trying international diplomacy for a change to reduce the risk he espouses, or does the world have to continue to be at war just because X nation "might" be subject to an attack, that technically they cannot at present execute.. so talk to them and get agreement not to do it. This guy is totally paranoid and for me I would Impeach him for his past actions and put him in Jail!! where he belongs.
He is a worse terrorist than the terrorists he professes to hate!! Hate breeds hate!!

This is a response to a blog on feb 4th, which demonstrates the blatant ignorance, hypocritism, and morally destructive attitudes of the republican party. I have three degrees including a master's degree , eight years of military service and I am so sick of these people who feel they are better and smarter than others, who believe the american people are dumb. Stop looking down on people!!!!!! Look Dick Cheney is the other half of the worst presidency in my lifetime, and he continues to destroy american unity with his arrogance. Why do people continue to support someone who has made the last eight years, along the George W, no matter what just becuase they are conservative. What is a condervative? really, America has to wake up and understand that we are hated by other nations becuase we have no respect for equality, human rights and peace. There's is one president, one vice president and one administration. Let's pray that one day people will come together before the USA falls apart. God bless America but also God forgive America I'm glad God isn't a politician, I would hate to see what the world would be like with a republican God.

Agree with Cheney, i grow more disgusted with the one sided journalism that pervades all of CNN's content. I am a journalism major and cant fathom why we have reached the point that we are at..its all about entertainment, because you have to fill up 24 hours. Its People Magazine, You Tube, Reality TV and more - all rolled into one outlet. One day someone will build a new national news network..thats all news all the time...not a bunch of ego maniacs, who like sitting on a pedastal all day, spitting their tainted opinions on society. wont last forever..i can bet on that.

do you know dick cheney and neo con group are the designer of 9/11? since then they always take a scare tack ticks to threaten people in the world showing osama bin laden on tv screens. today he also gave the warning and threathened us. probably he and his group are planning the same kind of attack somewhere in u.s. or somewhere else , consulting with osama bin laden and his group. this is what a lot of people worldwide believe in. we are veru much anticipating something too bad to cheney and his group will be revieled from unlawful imprisonment of innocent people, when things will be opened up to the world.
We used to believe that the only thing we had to fear was fear itself. That is until the "Dick" Cheney and his pathetic puppet launched their psychological war against the American people. We became hostages.

The closing of guantanamo bay would be the worst thing Obama could do..It is just sending a message to any terrorist that there will be no punishment for their actions..Obama is too concerned with their rights than protecting us from terrorists..
I agree with Dick Cheney and his policies. You ought to be extremely
careful dealing with terrorist and their actions. His warnings should
be considered. Obama is not aware of the risks he is taking by
freeing these retainee's. The world would further be unsafe. The bombings and killings will increase. These terrorist have brainwashed their families from generation to generation to kill. The percentage of terrorist have increased since the Iraq war because they are advertising more. They have become more powerful by raising money from all over the world through internet and having more children.
Mr. Cheney needs to be reminded that the country overwhelming voted the Bush/Cheney policies out; that's why we now have a Democratic President Obama. Americans are fed up with Cheney's scare tactics which they have used throughout their eight year term in office.
He speaks that time will reveal that their policies saved Americans from other terrorist attacks, could those boxes of papers he tried to sneak out of his office shed light on those averted attacks? Why not release them and let Americans decide for themselves.
Did we not water board 3 times only...listening to Anderson would seem that we water boarded everyone... Reality is that Bush and Cheney kept the country safe; I may not agree with all of their policies but can't deny them that. ..May be they had to stretch a bit, I'm sure after much deliberations etc...What do you choose 3 times water boarding vs. another attack?
