Editor’s Note: Here’s Anderson’s one-on-one interview with President Obama. The Q & A session in the Oval Office covered everything from his “mistake” in nominating Sen. Tom Dashcle to head the Department of Health and Human Services to his plan to fix economy and even how he’s rebranding of the “War on Terror.” Anderson also got a chance to throw in a “lightning round” of questions to find out when the Obamas will get their new dog and to see if Mr. Obama has stopped smoking.

Anderson, Good Job...
As far as BailOut, I would say give his admin a chance. I know everyone want something out of this. As long as Democrats do it in proper way! I would give him a chance to try his way. I know it's our money.
It's not cheap to run this country!!! But if we stick together, we will get thru this!!!
For Fact, His Admins did NOT cause this problems!

A President should speak in the language the most people understand. Double talk, beating around the bush, BS and evading the issue is unbecoming of a true statesman. I understand screwed up. It is refreshing that Obama can admit it. Actually I think he might have been covering up for someone who should have found that stuff out for him. I admire that too. He knows where the buck stops. The people told him it stops on his desk and he heard them.
OK YOU ASKED FOR My Opinion! The war on terror.
Cheney and Bush are the real terrorists supported by the American people that are the shareholders of stock of companies that build, sell, train, and finance the use of weapons with the excuse of security and national security.
Control through fear. Mafia secret to make money, sell security, and don’t forget to sell the weapons and the training.
My question is why do we need weapons to control intelligent human beings?. This is the way US does business all over the world.
Manufacture weapons, sell and train guerrillas and armies all over the world, (selling to both sides is also a great business). Now that they are at it use that power to overthrow governments at their whim and economically enslave the world.
It does not matter how many people are killed all around the world by the armies and guerrillas trained by the US, with the knowledge and approval of the Senate and all Americans that own stock in those corporations. As long as your stock goes up, let them kill themselves. Let’s build more. That is the American motto and way of life. It is legal in the US to traffic with dead.
Why do we need weapons for peace? Stop selling weapons all over the world and there will be no more killings. Guaranteed! No more human misery. No more broken hearts of parents, brothers, sisters, friends, relatives of someone killed by a bullet. One life less. And your god? He is mute.

you did a good job in general.I wish you were a little respectful to our president.Why did you sit crossing your legs while you interviewd US president.Even when you walked in the room you were rushing. When you finished the interview you didn't shake his hand. I don't think Mrs Vanderbelt thought you to be respectful to people or you need more training to interview a president.

I had great respect for you and your reporting until this interview. To sneak in such a personal question while the president was being quite open and trustful of you was unconsciousable. To ask him on national tv about his personal quest to give up the addiction to nicitine was unbelievable. To put him on the spot about smoking on the white house grounds was putting him in a no win situation, considering the amount of smoking that has taken place on those grounds.I bet when you were young you were the one in the dopile doing the pinching. All about your ego and ratings huh anderson.
I agree with Jen that President Obama did not make a mistake. I think he is saying, I screw up because of the precious time and energy put into the issues when there are much more important concerns for the people.
I have never seen so much animosity within 100 days of any president in my many years of watching other presidents honeymoon...Why this one?

A president needs to understand that language like, "I screwed up" is not only inappropriate for the younger audience keeping up with his presidential time in office (including his own daughters), but it is unpresidential and totally contradictory to the higher education he claims to have received at Harvard. Clean it up, Mr. President.
Anderson, I don’t think President Obama made a mistake in his decision of cabinet appointees who have ethical issues. Yes, he is our President and his acknowledgement of this embarrassing issues reflect s his leadership. I hope President Obama will consider that the decisions of neglecting responsibilities of those he selected or his cabinet is not a true reflection of him (President Obama), but a reflection of them as individuals. To President Obama stay encourage shake the dust off your feet and keep moving. There individuals out there who are willing to do the right thing when no one is looking. You are making an impact by these individuals coming forth and revealing the truth about themselves and their actions. Now they are looking in the mirror and taking responsibility. Yes, we can change!
Good job president Obama, drive the bus, first-time listening to oh President I can feel the power and his voice. This is what we need to hear that no one is above the law.

In this interview, President Obama says he made a mistake...however after watching this several times, I am still unclear as to what he feels the mistake was.
He says that it wasn't appointing Tom Daschle in the first place but rather something about a campaign promise to adopt bottom up politics?? If he is not sorry for appointing Daschle...then what exactly is he owning up to? That this sorry situation was uncovered, he allowed it to get this far and now has more egg on his face?
I think he is missing the point. Waht gets my goat is... I think that if President Obama knew that Daschle's tax problem woiuld stay hidden....he would appoint him again.

Is now the time to start a public debate about whether anyone (other than Mother Theresa) could be worthy of a million dollar a year income? I understand rewarding good ideas and hard work, but when does it become too much?
I liked the question on smoking. It shows President Obama to be human like the rest of us who are addicted to tobacco. It is hard to quit. I wish him the best of luck. He is a great guy and so are you Anderson.

The Senate & House should allow President Obama's stimulas package to pass and stop playing politics. Based on President Obama's intelligence, he could be one of the fatcats (CEO's making millions a year + bonuses), yet he opted to be PRESIDENT OF THE U.S. It seems (both he and Michelle) are doing the US a favor! As intelligent as President Obama is, the Senate and House should allow him to proceed with the stimulas package. I think he's doing the US a favor by being President. AC..Love your work..The interview was a good one. My question or comment is that in this time of great economic pain why are we or the folks we are sending to DC so concerned with drawing lines in the sand ? I think we must or everyone needs to step back and say what will work now and forget about the future for just a minute. We spent 450 B and things are the same. TARP..(Taxpayers Are Regretting Paying) was a poorly executed plan.
Could you ask Wells Fargo to bail out my student loan now that I'm basically unemployed? Just a thought. Three seventy four a month could put ALOT groceries on the table, a warm pair of shoes, better tires on my car, etc...... Doesn't sound like much to most people I realize, but it's a hugh sum to me at this time.

President Obama is no longer on the campaign trail and charm is not going to fix things. Timely (which does not mean rush)....targeted and temporary....he needs to get back to the White House and get to work.

War on Terror....a rose by any other name....3,000 slaughtered in this country on Sept. 11th by Arab Islamic Murderers and his biggest concern is terminology. They mention how they had not place ,photos and plaques or put their own style with comfort to call the White Home. l say to those people , that the Obamas should have their assistant to do those kind of planning. their interior decorator.The 1st lady and Ushers will be in charge, she has plenty of time, by goodness they just got there.
