As the members of the Republican National Committee prepare to choose a party chairman to serve for the next two years, the calls for new "Hispanic outreach" initiatives are flying - in my view, unnecessarily.
It is probably true that President Obama's election marks the beginning of a post-partisan, post-racial America, or at least a time when these issues are less divisive than in years past.
But will the two political parties be as able to look beyond the stereotypes of Latinos and what the Latino experience is in this country, as they have for other ethnic and racial groups?

Thanks EJ for pointing out the true nature of the republican party. They are stuck in the stuff that makes cultural wars...the isms. They aren't a party of forward thinkers....and Jarrod you are evidence of the immaturity still present in this country which the republican party can launch yet another wave of cultural wars...the immigrants are the problem??? Jarrod how about the problem is not these individuals that come into this country to obtain a better life, but the folks that have been here for generations wreaking havoc on women, people of color, taking land from the Indians....etc...now the greedy who have lots of power have brought us to the brink of a depression! Are you going to blame that on the 22 million immigrants???? If that number is accurate. Jarrod it is time for all of us to love not hate, accept not reject, assist not resist....time for growth Jarrod!!!

We the people think that is about time that we change,
the nickname for the Republican Party of the United States,
they don't even deserve the Grand Old Party, GOP Nickname
we should call them the Old Grand Party OGP!

as a Hispanic, and Here in nevada we love Sarah Palin I Hope she runs in 2012. She is the American dream we want to follow. A nation of self made people, and not welfare handouts.
I am sick and tired that part of the 22 million illegal immigrants working in the construction business that i have to compete with them taking turns 14 to a house not paying taxes and these contractors that are undercutting honest hard working americans by using illegals driving thier 50,000 dollar trucks FIX THAT AND WE MIGHT MAKE IT
As a multiracial with a Hispanic surname, I get a ton of mail asking me to vote for 'Our ' kind from La Raza. So who is stereotyping?
Leslie Sanchez you might look beyond your race and vote for someone who is qualified for the job!
To Leslie, Barack Obama promised to be all things to all people during the campaign. And if you want to talk about lockstep, blind opposition, you only need to look as far as the Democrats during the Bush presidency. To EJ, it was not the Republican Party that sent out the disc with that song; it was a candidate for chairman who will be lucky to get ten votes in tomorrow's election. So that ought to tell you something about where the GOP is today on those issues. And, by the way, the GOP purged the former Klansmen from its ranks; why is Robert Byrd still sitting in the Senate as a good Democrat?
Since the latino agenda is have open Borders with Mexico. Give amnesty to the 22 million illegal aliens even though they broke the law. They seem to always lower property values especially with 10 families living in a 3 bedroom house. That is considered a castle to them. They have always had trouble to blending in with the American values and society. The 22 million illegal aliens probably voted for Obama. It is an unfortunate dillema the Republicans face. I believe they should stick to their principles. The democrats will more than likely get the majority of their votes regardless of what the republicans do. Maybe the moral majority will wake up if they find the country run by illegal aliens.
Latinos have been in North America long before there even was a so called government. But i think its a great idea plus it would help alot if they were to all work on rebuilding this country. In times like these more peole should be working in some type of construction . If we did that i think it would help out a great deal.
I think it's hilarious to see the republican party pandering for new members. They are finally paying the price for their Karl Rove inspired tactics and failed policies. They have their collective heads in the clouds and have no idea what it's like for the average American. I'm an independent but I voted Democrat to teach them a lesson. Unless I see some big changes in the party I'll be a Democrat for the foreseeable future. If they're seriously thinking of running Palin in 2012 they're even stupider then I thought!
But will the two political parties be as able to look beyond the stereotypes of Latinos and what the Latino experience is in this country, as they have for other ethnic and racial groups?
What exactly do you mean? Do you mean the Republican Party that not more than 1 month ago sent around that song "Barack the Magic Negro" and defended it repeatedly as satire? That Republican Party?
The Republican Party has an issue looking beyond the stereotypes of many ethnic and racial groups.Your assertion that they are able to look beyond steretypes for other racial groups besides Latinos is ridiculous.
I think there are too many people that want this President to be everywhere and everything to all people. First, he has not been President for less than three weeks. Be patient. We have a National crisis on our hands and we are whining about not being included. I think the Republicans need any reason to be in oposition with the Demacratic President. I am so tired of this bi-partisan bickering. Meanwhile, no one is providing solutions.
Leslie, have you provided any solutions or positive reasons to any of your complaints. I have been listening to you since the elections and all I hear from you is whining.
Pres. Obama has asked us as Americans to put a said our Childish ways. This means to be adult and bring solutions and resolve to things.
