Happy Friday folks!

President Obama ends his eventful week with a bi-partisan meeting of congressional leaders to push his economic recovery plan forward. His new press secretary Robert Gibbs told us yday that he would receive a daily briefing on the economy, just like his existing intelligence briefing, and he’ll get a dose of that later to round out the week.

We’ll bring you the latest on this recovery plan as it makes its way through Congress. Nancy Pelosi said the legislation is slowly working its way through Capital Hill, but Republicans feel there is no reliable estimate on the bill’s effect on employment. Ed Henry and Ali Velshi will have the latest.

We’ve confirmed that NY Governor David Paterson will pick upstate Congresswoman Kirsten Gillibrand to fill Hillary Clinton’s vacated Senate seat. He will hold a press conference in Albany, NY around noon et to make this announcement.

This is not a household name, even for the native NY’ers, but she worked on Hillary’s Clinton’s 2000 campaign for this Senate seat, and is a member of Blue Dog Coalition, a group of Democrats who hold more conservative views than their liberal Dem counterparts. This news comes after Caroline Kennedy reported she is taking herself out of the running, citing personal reasons.

Former Merrill Lynch CEO John Thain leaves Bank of America, months after he shepherded a deal between the 2 entities. His exit is the latest departure of top executives at Merrill, illustrating how tough it has been for the 2 banks to come together.

The Treasury Dept agreed to give Bank of America $20 bn in funds from the bailout money to help Bank of America ‘digest the deal’ so to speak. Joe Johns is going to get out his microscope and keep them honest. Why did the government push for this merger to begin with? Didn't they know this could be a marriage Not made in heaven? Hmmm, tune in at 10pet to find out!

@ Xtina......... here you are again, spewing you vile! What taxpayer money is being used to fund abortions in foreign countries? IF you are going to make a statement like this one, then back it up with .... facts.

Of course, IF we are talking about LIVES then what about Bush bankrupting our Nation by attacking a sovereign country, Iraq, that had done nothing to us?

People, moan and weep about the baby in the womb........ but they same people are SILENT on the millions killed by WAR! Hypocrites.

You know what Im really looking for a rule that should have been included with our tax dollars that the treasury was given by the TARP legislation that makes it clear in black and white that this money is only to be used for business only. Not for pay raises, renovations, vacations etc. If these companies even dare to go there they have to make requests in writing for it before they can even proceed. These companies are just wasting our money and there is no documenation for any of it. We have a deficit and we cant just print more money or the dollar will lose its value. I hope Obama forces these companies to be transparent.

Marriage made in heaven is a myth! Why don't they just send all that money to the us, the taxpayers, so we can put it in our banks or spend it as we see fit. That would help everyone, banks included.

Is that one and the same Merrill Lynch CEO that resigned after spending a mil on renovating his home? (While likely drawing several mil as salary!) These self serving neo cons fleecing the hard earned dollars of middle class citizens need to be indicted and charged with no commute. They have no integrity or conscience for their Nation or those they serve. Those are the investigations Pelosi should be pushing vs. Justice Dept Firings! They're the ones running off with unaccountable mils!.

    Accountability, accountability, accountability!!!!!

What's the strategy for holding them accountable this time? There should be documentation of every single dime.

I also think there should be further investigation into what the heck happened to the first bailout money?

Bailing out big corporations? Using taxpayer money to fund abortions in foreign countries? This is Obama's change?

HMM..I feel a fight coming on over Obama's recovery plan. I have to agree with the reps...they should not just pass this thing through quickly because if it doesn't work then we will have given out all of that money for nothing!

Well finally Hillary's old senate seat has been given out and we won't have to hear about it anymore!!

So...we are bailing out another bank huh!? UMM..why did the government push for the merger when they knew it wouldn't help and we'd end up having to save them anyway?
