Happy Friday everyone! I hope it doesn't thread on arrogancy when Obama said to the GOP that he won. True but he has to be reminded that he did it with the help of a few conservatives as well so he shouldn't alienate them.

    Suze-

I am an acting student, graduated from my school, trying to scimp by working as a server in restaurants and doing temp jobs as often as I can. I am completely financially cut off from my parents and I don't know what I am going to do. I have about $1600 a month in bills including student loan payments being almost as much as my rent. I have tried getting a deferment and a forbearance but told I didn't qualify. I am afraid I can't pay any of my bills and I have been doing, what I thought, was everything right. All I do is survive off of Ramen noodles, can you help me?

@David Gergen: I agree. Obama hit the ground running. So far, so good. The challenges are astronomical, but I'm optimistic. That's a feeling I haven't had for a long time.

    Hi Anderson,
I agree this has been a very exciting, wonderful and amazing week. I can understand why you and the CNN team are tired, you guys did a phenomenal job on the inauguration.

Cooper – were you more exhausted after Israel and Gaza or the inauguration?

My guess would be the Inauguration.

With the bill signed today regarding no funding for abortion abroad, why do most conservatives believe that pro-choice = pro-abortion? I believe in the right to choose, period.

I think Obama is off to a good start so far. He has alot to clean up from the last administration so Im sure he is feeling a little bombarded, but I have faith he will do just fine

    Hi David,

President Obama has a good team he will do his best. It's a collective effort which I'm afraid won't happen at the City of Boston....I work for the city and my union has a meeting next week about freezing wages. I'm willing to have my wages frozen instead of layoffs. This decade has been very rough on me and I'm finally on my feet. I'm afraid the other members with lots of seniority will want their cash and the newbies will be laid off: me. It's one day at a time.

Okay..why not split $900Billion between all Americans and then take back 33% in Taxes. Why should all these EXEC's get a second chance to screw up and us again.

    Good Evening Anderson and Erica,

    On Gitmo:

Most Americans are not happy with former President Bush, however we have not been attacked since 911.
Do you or any of the other viewers think that this is because of us holding the suspected terriosts @ Gitmo? I do. What happends if we start releasing them?

Why is California gets all the press....they might hit 10% unemployment....Well Anderson Michigan already has!!!

    January 23, 2009 at 10:04 pm |
  21. Kelly, California

Count me in that 10% unemployed in California. At this point we're worried about filing our taxes because the state is out of money and instead of a refund (if warranted) we will get an IOU. Sorry Mr. Governor but I can't pay my rent with an IOU.

Question for Suzi: We are one month behind in our mortgage plus late fees. Do you think we should approach our lender and attempt to get a modification on our mortgage that would allow us to catch up?

Hey Anderson, Erica, David, and bloggers!

Yes, Anderson, I am ready for some much-needed rest. Had a good week, just exhausting. Hope yours was good as well!

David, great to have you on the blog! While I have faith in the new President's abilities, the scope of this crises will prove incredibly difficult to correct. I was unaware of the CA unemployment rate. Very disturbing...

Hi Anderson, looking forward to the show. Here's hoping for a great way to end the week, it's been busy for you.

To the best bloggers, hello! Looking forward to some more great discussion.

On the Obama girls dolls, I can see why Mrs. Obama is up in arms about it. These girls have been thrust into the public eye, and it's becoming a little creepy, in my opinion. They can't really be little girls if the public eye is constantly trained on them.

David, I think that he wants to get things going, bipartisanly, but if he can't, he is right when he said "I won." He won for a reason, and if the GOP stops this stimulus, they will hear about it.

Does Blagojevich's lawyer know he's doing Larry King and taking calls from people on Monday night? I know this is a silly question, but is he *nuts*?

I resent the lavish spending of Merrill Lynch CEO for office decorating and bonuses from taxpayer monies, He needs to return that money and use it for what was intended.

Just another example of why we are in this mess.

All of us need to demand accountability for how our taxpayer dollars are spent !!

Hello everyone - So, what do you think of Barack Obama's first week in office? My sense is that he is off to a very quick, smooth and almost flawless start, but questions are growing whether he can conquer the many forces arrayed against him. Just today, California announced that its unemployment rate has hit 9.3 percent and may go over 11 percent before the end of the year, while economic analysts are predicting as much as another trillion dollars in bank losses. A tough, tough time to be President. Would welcome your thoughts.
