It is Inauguration Day in Washington D.C.
What a chapter in History this day will be
People came to witness from everywhere
A magical spell of love was cast in the air
They arrived by cars, vans, buses and trains
Masses of people filled the seats of planes
A tapestry of people covered the National Mall
Perfect strangers huddled together to see it all
The dreams of change have found their way
Visions of new hope will be born on this day
Many waited in the bitter cold through the night
Millions of people together what an awesome sight
After much preparation the time has come at last
A show for the world with an all star cast
The cameras and monitors were set in place
To capture every moment on every face
George Bush and Obama emerge side by side
Both men were about to take a historic ride
Slowly the motorcade made its way to Capitol Hill
Just to catch a glimpse gave the crowd a thrill
The guests were announced and ushered in
New History for America was about to begin
Presidents, Vice Presidents, their children and wives
There were ordinary people with ordinary lives
Dignitaries, celebrities guests and heads of state
The sheer joy of this moment was worth the wait
President elect Barack Obama steps out the door
The crowd renders his name with a thunderous roar
Things come to order with a welcome speech
The change for America was within our reach
Rick Warren prayed in his special way
God’s blessings will shine on us all this day
Biden is sworn with the Bible held by his wife Jill
Obama with Lincoln’s Bible that gave us a chill
A speech of affirmation and a call for unity
A challenge to the citizens of every community
A special composition sealed the moment with class
A delightful treat nothing else could surpass
Aretha Franklin reminded us why she’s The Queen of Soul
Elizabeth Alexander took her moment in a poet’s role
Dr. Lowery brought things to close as only he can
The torch of our Nation to be carried by an awesome man
The rebirth of America; a tine to heal
President Barack Obama; keeping it real

I find myself inspired when I hear the words of this Poet. She is a shear delight and the world needs to hear her life story. This is only one poem of her work. Thank You for taking the time to share this moment for her. It really means a lot knowing that someone else cares.
