Martin Luther King Jr. – A rare glimpse

Here is rare video of Martin Luther King Jr. in an interview from 1964. He believed there would be an african-american president in his lifetime. And on Tuesday ... five days after King would have turned 80... his vision will come true. That clip comes to us courtesy of B-B-C World News America.

Fortunately for him and America, Obama does not come with the baggage of having slave ancestors. He knows exactly who he is and where he came from. I think he will encourage citizens to become involved and especially encourage Afro-Amercians and minorities to see that nothing is impossible and no goal unattainable. Both he and his wife have worked at community level so they will not be living in an isolated Ivory Tower in the White House. They are grounded in reality. The best is yet to come.

Wow, i am not in Washington, but so excited for tomorrow. The only thing I can say is that in the words of Barak...we all made this possible and I am not sure that my favoorite news station cnn...is making that evident tonight. Com' on guys, let's get back to reality.

I have to remind myself the BBC filmed this in 1964 during the height of segregationism. The optimism Dr. King shows in humanity is inspiring. Despite all that was happening in the deep South with racism, Dr. King still held onto his belief that one day an African American could become president - a concept that, at the time, was improbable.

My first blog comments ever...We are all making a commitment tomorrow of accepting roles of leadership, of offering community service, of contributing $$ into the whole, raising our consciousness to meet the visionary, and rolling up our sleeves to get some work done...Passive waiting is over, complaining is over, passing the buck is over. We have the spirit, we have the confidence and we have the love of country.....It shall be done....Susan Louise
