This guy certainly deserves to be brought up on all kinds of charges. He may never see light of day again, except from the prison yard.

The pilots plan fell apart once the plane crashed in the woods and not the ocean like he was hoping for. Dude is one epic failure after another. Have fun in prison if you make it that far.

  3. Dulcie - Denver

This is one of those stories that's stranger than fiction. What an elaborate plan. Geez.

  4. Megan Dresslar - Shoreline, WA

I think that FBI will caught pilot and book him in jail after he found alive!

    January 13, 2009 at 10:39 pm |
  5. Don, WA

Quite the overly elaborate scheme by the pilot, if that's what it turns out to be.

    January 13, 2009 at 10:39 pm |
  6. Devin Brooks

He probably meant for his plane to crash in the Gulf of Mexico.

    January 13, 2009 at 10:39 pm |
  7. Clarence Albuquerque

Asking for a ride to a particular site where a 2008 Yamaha is waiting doesn't sound like an unpredictable and foggy thinker.

  8. Patrice Palmer

This pilot may be a sociopath. He's certainly got the manipulative aspect down perfectly.

    January 13, 2009 at 10:39 pm |
  9. Candace from Canada

Wow I hope that he didn't slit his wrists.

Men like Schrekner are so talented... yet the one talent they lack is in being able to off themselves.

Well, this will all look good for his "insanity" plea, but I aint falling for it.
I guess the economy is hitting him hard too. lol Lovely wife : )

This guy sure isn’t a smart criminal, no wonder he’s a crook. Makes no sense what I just said, I know. Thought I’d give you guys a laugh.

    January 13, 2009 at 10:38 pm |
  12. Ashley - Hamlin, NY

There is something that we don't know about this story. I think he needs a psych. evaluation. You don't go from crashing planes to slitting your wrists...it's not natural progression for serious suicides.

    January 13, 2009 at 10:38 pm |
  13. Minou, New York City

this pilot is one unlucky fella!

    January 13, 2009 at 10:38 pm |
  14. Vanessa, El Paso,TX

wow..this guy mark can't get it right..he's tried 2x to off himself he can't get anything right

Yikes! Folks never stop amazing me.

    January 13, 2009 at 10:38 pm |
  16. Ingrid from Northern Virginia

What the heck is going on with this pilot story? There are so many things that don't make sense...

    January 13, 2009 at 10:38 pm |
  17. Glen Up North (New Brunswick, Canada)

Minou, I agree with you 100%. Leaving a plane unmanned is like throwing a loaded gun out of a third story window.

    January 13, 2009 at 10:38 pm |
  18. Cherise` from Gburg, PA

    wow how pathetic....
if ur gonna lie at least lie well....

    January 13, 2009 at 10:38 pm |
  19. Betty Ann, Nacogdoches,TX

Did that pilot owe debt? What was he running from? Somebody needed a better plan.

    January 13, 2009 at 10:38 pm |
  20. Patrice Palmer

I honestly hope that the media gets a clue and stops catering to Palin's sad attempts to be "relevant." As for the pilot, he's someone who seriously needs a) psychiatric help and b) a really good lawyer!

    January 13, 2009 at 10:37 pm |
  21. Bea

    Poor little rich kid pilot.

    January 13, 2009 at 10:36 pm |
  22. Sherrol in Canada

Good they caught that jerk pilot. Tried to kill himself did he? What of his wife Anderson, anything about her?

    January 13, 2009 at 10:36 pm |
  23. Greg, Austin Tx

Surely that pilot didn't think that he could pull that highly choreographed Mission Impossible stunt off. Hopefully he'll also be charged with reckless endangerment (leaving a pilot-less plane to crash who knows where)

    January 13, 2009 at 10:35 pm |
  24. Megan Dresslar - Shoreline, WA

Finally!!!! Thank god!!! pilot found alive!!!!! it made me so happy!!!! 🙂 Yeah!!!!! I pray too hard!

I can't wait to see the reaction of Americans when they see Obama order the Gitmo people freed and sent home. Think about this, 500 have been freed and 100 have returned to the battle field to be killed or captured again.

  26. David, Indiana

Thanks for the heads up Erica, I wondered about the webcast too.

I think James Carville is right about emphasizing that the Clinton Foundation is doing extensive charitable work, but the committee is right to look into this question, Bill Clinton has furnished a list of contributors and complied w/ requests for transparency, but the possiblity of forswearing contributions from foreign countries, or just businesses? shld be considered. Don't want to compromise HC when she is in office as Secy of State.

  27. Autumn Meadows

@michelle Brown they keep putting her on the air becuase she brings in the ratings.. even fools and idiots bring ratings if it distracts us from our own problems.

    January 13, 2009 at 10:35 pm |
  28. Glen Up North (New Brunswick, Canada)

Heidi Ann, it's more than being embarrased : he's now facing charges in his home state. He's now more than a missing pilot: he's a fugitive.

    January 13, 2009 at 10:34 pm |
  29. Heather - Spokane, WA

If you are going to fake your death and play dead, at least play dead the right way!

    January 13, 2009 at 10:33 pm |
  30. Vanessa- Silver Spring MD

If Obama wants the BBall court, then let him get the BBall court. If he has to deal with all this stuff in the country he at least deserves some outlet.

    January 13, 2009 at 10:33 pm |
  31. Chris Sosa - Boston, MA

That pilot has some serious issues. I hope he receives needed psychological help, especially given his apparent suicide attempt.

    January 13, 2009 at 10:33 pm |
  32. Bonnie

Sounds like the pilot is Indiana's Madoff!!

    January 13, 2009 at 10:33 pm |
  33. Ashley - Hamlin, NY

An apparent suicide attempt? What – he crashed his plane and then tried to slit his wrists? I think he knew he was going to get caught....

    January 13, 2009 at 10:33 pm |
  34. Lorie Ann, Buellton, California

Hopefully they'll put this pilot in jail. Just letting an empty airplane crash to the ground, could have killed many people.

  35. Sushma

Hey Anderson. So, what are your thoughts on Bush's interview with Larry King??

Also, I'm proud of Hillary Clinton, she's inspiring. She's exactly the kind of woman that can defer sexism. However, I don't understand why people claim that she is too tough, if she was man, she's be applauded for her strong, opinionated remarks.

  36. Glen Up North (New Brunswick, Canada)

Mark – if all Obama does is expand the basketball court (outside or inside?) at the White House, then I'd say that's a pretty modest change for a chance at the president being able to stay in shape and/or burn off some pent-up steam.

    January 13, 2009 at 10:32 pm |
  37. Megan Dresslar - Shoreline, WA

    Anderson.....
I can't wait see you next week for Obama's inguation day!!! It will be fun to watch when Obama goes down the street as parade as wave to people!!!

    January 13, 2009 at 10:32 pm |
  38. Michelle Brown

@ Mark, if Laura Bush can spend 450K on China, Obama can expand the Basketball court. It will be alot less I bet....

  39. Esteban , Heredia, Costa Rica

I agree too, though apparently Sarah still wants the media to be over her. It' s her decision too, she is the one calling the shots.

    January 13, 2009 at 10:31 pm |
  40. Heidi Ann Berg

I bet the guy wants to come back but he is know to embarresssed

    January 13, 2009 at 10:31 pm |
  41. Rikki, Fargo, ND

This story just keeps getting stranger! Another perfect example of somebody not willing to take responsibilities for their actions.

    January 13, 2009 at 10:31 pm |
  42. Sue

Most people audited by the IRS who owe more than $5,000.00 are assessed a 20% penalty, authorized by Congress. Geitner should be given the same treatment. Otherwise, it is favoritism. All taxpayers should be upset by this.

    January 13, 2009 at 10:31 pm |
  43. Maureen T

How come no one has found this pilot yet? He obviously had some assistance! I hope he gets caught soon!

    January 13, 2009 at 10:31 pm |
  44. Minou, New York City

That plane could have crashed into someone's home and killed people!

    January 13, 2009 at 10:31 pm |
  45. Emeka

Sara Palin...step out of the light!....not going to be posible, particularly now that she's learnt the first rule in the RNC playbook...keep the base engaged, via the media, while making them (the base) think the media is against you. Its working!

    January 13, 2009 at 10:30 pm |
  46. Maureen from Apple Valley, California

Thank you Anderson for answering my question. Obama's inaguation is a once in a lfetime event and very historic. I don't think this event in Gaza will be the only one. I'm never negative on things but Israel and someone is always in conflict with each other. Its been going on even before I was born.

    January 13, 2009 at 10:30 pm |
  47. Michelle Brown

If Sarah's family is in need of pulling together, then she should stop doing interviews and spend her energy on her family. The media is only listening because she keeps talking.

Crazy how the media likes idiots, thieves, & fools – Sarah, Madoff -Burris,...

That lady Sarah is not worth of coverage, like she was not worthy of VP

I agree that you can't announce to close down Guantanamo and then say details to come later knowing that it will take 2 years+ to close it down. I would think there are other more important things to work on and spend money on in the Obama administration.

What's wrong with being a strong woman? Show me a better and more qualified secretary of state...Maybe Sarah Palin...

I am so surprised that Obama played basketball with friends!!!!
