Jack Gray
AC360 Associate Producer

Welcome to our 1st Annual Golden Globes Live Blog.  I'm your host and, in case you're wondering, my qualifications include once riding on the same elevator as Sarah Jessica Parker and working for several years in a video store/tanning parlor.

I'll be with you from 8pm – 11pm Eastern Time.  Now, to be clear, we’re not advocating changing your channel from CNN. But if you’re going to watch the Golden Globes anyway, you might as well watch them with us as your running commentary. And frankly, you don’t even need to be watching the Golden Globes to enjoy the live blog.

Disclaimer:  I'm sure some of these movies/TV shows are connected to CNN through our parent companies Turner Broadcasting and Time Warner.  HBO, Warner Brothers and New Line Cinemas are just a few of our high-profile sister companies.  But seeing as how I've not gotten so much as a free hat or poster, I'm not in the tank for anyone.

If you want to take part in our Live Blog (and we hope you do) please follow our rules.

Here are some of them:

1) Keep it short
2) Don't write in ALL CAPS (we don't like screaming)
3) Use your real name

@ All: Don't you think Tom is on because it is broadcasted on NBC? Has he ever done a movie? Maybe Al and Matt will be on next.

Stacy, OMG wasn't "Memento" fantastic????? Guy Pearce is a great actor as well, but I do have to give credit to Chris Nolan. "The Prestige" wasn't bad either!

@Brandi: I agree. Jack comes out and plays more. Of course, Anderson's got that whole show to anchor, so he probably deserves a little slack. Just a little.

Bransi – sorry. He makes me overprotective! LOL. Boo, that is cute! You had better make sure Donna does not hear you!

Hey there is Tom Browkaw! Why wasn't Anderson invited? Cannot picture Anderson at an awards show. Too shy.

Excuse me ... looking at the TV, I mix English with Portuguese!
    Repeating:
    Beth (and Jack),
We can’t let our friend Jack outside, together Erica.
What you talk about it, Jack?

Michelle, Did you buy the "Dark Knight" DVD? The more you watch it, the better it gets. Once you don't have to concentrate on what is happening in the plot you can really focus on the acting.

    January 11, 2009 at 9:05 pm |
  16. Stacy

    Tom Brokaw? Where's Anderson?

    January 11, 2009 at 9:05 pm |

i couldnt even tell Heath Ledger was the actor. i have the DVD and he did such a great job, it was so different than any other role he played.

@Jo Ann: Chris Nolan deserves some credit too. When I heard he was attached to the first one I got excited because Momento was amazing.

I echo all of your thoughts - Heath Ledger was tremendous in The Dark Knight. One heck of a film.

How hard it must have been for the other actors in the category. Your pissed you didn't win, but have to stuff it because it is unseemly to compete against a dead guy. Had he been alive he still would have probably won, but there was no doubt with his death.

    January 11, 2009 at 9:02 pm |
  23. Bonnie

Jack–maybe Sammy and Erica's dog could have a play date that night!!

    January 11, 2009 at 9:02 pm |

I would not be surprised to see Heath win the Oscar. A magnificent performance by an extremely talented actor!!

He and Christian Bale took Batman from comic book status to serious drama.

Megan Dresslar, It is a little odd to read all this without a visual, isn’t it. But I guess it’s good to stretch the imagination.

Heath Ledger was outstanding as the Joker. I saw
The Dark Knight about 5 times. In fact, I hope it gets
    some Oscar nods.

jack, darling, who needs anderson when we have you who actually interacts with us?

    January 11, 2009 at 8:56 pm |
  48. lee

Jack, maybe you'll have better luck getting Sammy to tap dance while singing Tip Toe Through the Tulips for us than getting Anderson to join.

  49. Kristen-University Park, PA

Yes, Jack. I am curious about that mustache of Brad's also. Its terrible IMO. Can the foreign press vote for him to shave it off? Why cover up a gorgeous face.
