Jack Gray
AC360 Associate Producer

Welcome to our 1st Annual Golden Globes Live Blog.  I'm your host and, in case you're wondering, my qualifications include once riding on the same elevator as Sarah Jessica Parker and working for several years in a video store/tanning parlor.

I'll be with you from 8pm – 11pm Eastern Time.  Now, to be clear, we’re not advocating changing your channel from CNN. But if you’re going to watch the Golden Globes anyway, you might as well watch them with us as your running commentary. And frankly, you don’t even need to be watching the Golden Globes to enjoy the live blog.

Disclaimer:  I'm sure some of these movies/TV shows are connected to CNN through our parent companies Turner Broadcasting and Time Warner.  HBO, Warner Brothers and New Line Cinemas are just a few of our high-profile sister companies.  But seeing as how I've not gotten so much as a free hat or poster, I'm not in the tank for anyone.

If you want to take part in our Live Blog (and we hope you do) please follow our rules.

Here are some of them:

1) Keep it short
2) Don't write in ALL CAPS (we don't like screaming)
3) Use your real name

How about during the commercials they show liveshots of the ballroom and all the middle-aged studio execs are having their pictures taken with Zac Efron, Vanessa Hudgens and the Jonas Brothers . Seriously people, your kids are not going to think you're cool so stop trying.

In Bruges was violent...but nothing compared to Tropic Thunder...just couldn't go with that one...may it's cause the Mr is a Vietnam Vet so it wasn't at all funny to me. I turned it off long before the TC's role everyone is talking about.

    January 11, 2009 at 10:28 pm |
  29. Caren in Boston

Xtina, if you're talking to me, yeah i had seen a trailer for In Bruges a long time ago, when I saw Darjeeling Limited, but I just got around to seeing In Bruges the other night. Again, I highly recommend it! It's both intense and hilarious!

    January 11, 2009 at 10:28 pm |
  30. Pati Mc

Agreed. I hope it wins Jack. Long time Allen fan.

Is Kate Winslet on? I'll never get over that scene – "you're blushing Jack, Monet would'nt blush."
    "Monet painted landscapes."

  32. Jack Gray

Vicky Cristina Barcelona - I'm telling you, it's Woody Allen's best film in decades.

@Pati Mc....Colin Firth? Was he just on?

    January 11, 2009 at 10:26 pm |
  35. Dulcie - Denver

    @ Fay in CA

Me too! I think Dustin Hoffman is pretty darn attractive.

    January 11, 2009 at 10:26 pm |
  36. Pati Mc

xtina – as an actress in my past, you "become" the character and they are real to you. You study them for a long time in order to create a good performance.

    January 11, 2009 at 10:26 pm |
  37. Chianne-Minnesota

How about an Oscar contest? You make a list of the nominees, we send it in, and those with the most winners get put into a drawing for an AC360 t-shirt?

    January 11, 2009 at 10:25 pm |
  38. xtina, chicago IL

caren, you're an insider! Had you heard of In Bruges ?

    January 11, 2009 at 10:25 pm |

  42. Roweena D'Souza, Mangalore

Bruges was okay, too much violence... but the only other nominated movie I've watched, 'burn after... was not at all good!

In Bruges is great but not everybody would like it. 🙂

    January 11, 2009 at 10:23 pm |
  48. Stacy

What's with Colin's head scratching? In need of Head n Shoulders, perhaps?

    January 11, 2009 at 10:23 pm |
  49. Caren in Boston

I just saw In Bruges and I have to say, I absolutly loved the script! I hated Colin Farrell until I saw him in this. Brenden Gleason was amazing as usual. I highly recommend it, though I like quirky movies, so it was definitely my type.

Colin seems either drunk, high or a combination of both. Is he always like that?
