I've been riding the wave of exuberance since PE Obama's victory, but that wave has crashed with what is going on in Oakland and Houston. Two police shootings on New Year's Eve? Am I the only one who feels we need to deal with the issue of police brutality in America?

Ah, Palin. I personally hope she doesn't go anywhere... she's just wayyyyy too much fun. Haha.

Anyway, kidney back? And kidneys just happen to go for 1.5 million, so he'll just settle for the money. Too kind of him, really.

I'm also very excited about Dr. Gupta being up for SG. I think he's be fabulous and his vitality will be a welcome addition to Obama's team.

It's so difficult to watch the conflict in Israel and Gaza. Palestinians have wanted to destroy Israel since its inception and extremists of any stripe can be really difficult to control. Yet the human cost is a tragedy. I wish I had a solution but it's way outside my experience.

Ha! Anderson, I heard about this talk show with Kathy and that she had your back. Aw! She is a great gal!

He wants his kidney back? That is almost as immature as Sarah Palin's responses in that last segment.

  7. xtina, chicago IL

Sorry Ken in NC; Palin is superior to Obama away when it comes to walking the walk. I live near Obama's old district and he didn't do ANYTHING to bring about change. Palin gave money back to the taxpayers. Which would you say is the better leader?

Tom Cruise and Sarah Palin. Now there is a pair!

Sarah Palin has no responsibility for her poor performance during interviews. It was the reporter's fault that she couldn't produce coherent answers. Pathetic. No bright bulb there, just a challenged individual that was a a mistaken choice by McCain. Let's move on, please.

Sarah Palin is so incredibly naive. This is NY. No one gets treated with kid gloves by the press

There is no way this man wants his kidney back! What is wrong with people?

The only class issue with Palin is that she has none.

Casey Anthony is right where she belongs! In jail! I hope she finally admits what she did and they lock her up and throw away the keys!

Sarah Palin attacked first, thus she was attacked. In her own reference, she is a pit bull. She treats others with disrespect and that what she got in return. Boo, hoo, hoo.

Tina Fey is a comedian for God's sake! GET OVER IT! Sarah Palin didn't take her interview with Katie Couric seriously, so she wasn't prepared. It's no ones fault but her own!

    January 8, 2009 at 10:47 pm |
  18. Brandi - bottom of the boot

seriously??? he wants his kidney back??? dude, get a grip, i guess you could call it a gift?

    January 8, 2009 at 10:47 pm |
  19. Ashley - Hamlin, NY

"You're not the center of the universe?" Did Palin just say that about Couric? Wasn't Palin the one who had a fit about sexism anytime anyone asked her an actual question?

(Nice shirt, Erica. Very nice color)

  20. John Bergquist Newtown, CT

Sarah Palin was simply not ready to be Vice President. She should not try to blame the press.

    January 8, 2009 at 10:46 pm |
  24. Ryan

    perfect example!
why did the mainstream media make fun of the Palin's names such as Tripp or Bristol, etc.

this from a media who fawns over people named Barack.
what are the Obama kids names? not really american sounding either!

    what a joke!
    double standards!
and im not that big a fan of Sarahs policies either!

Minou, New York City, Men define themselves by their bank accounts for the same reason women define themselves by their beauty, because one attracts the other.

    January 8, 2009 at 10:46 pm |
  27. Ken in NC

Anderson, Gov. Palin has to blame someone for her own short commings. She even blames Obama for attacks on her family but she is the one that dragged her kids out on the campaign trail with her and always on stage with her. She is her own worst enemy.

The US abstaining and that UN resolution for a ceasefire passing is a huge signal that hostilities should stop.

Obama has presented a rough overview of the stimulus economic package. It won't be a package it will hopef ully be a dramatic change in how we do economics in Washington and at home.

Gaza... happy to hear the UN is moving forward on something.. but can't stand seeing innocent people harmed or murdered .. esp children. Why do you think Condi Rice abstained from the vote repreesnting US? dg

Haven't we heard enough about Sarah Palin.

Her 15 minutes are up. Why do we keep bringin her back for another 5 minutes?

We do have much better things to discuss than how Sarah Palin feels the media was biased against her.

David, every thing you said about Sanjay Gupta is right on the money. He would make a great SG!

Bea.... It wasn't for people that ran up their credit cards. All interest was written off. I am a home owner. Why should interest on home loans be tax deductible and not other interest. It rewards the consumer for spending money. And stimulates the economy.

  39. Lorie Ann, Buellton, California

Governor Palin will talk out as long as people listen. Like it or not many people in this country want to hear her. A huge amount of people voted for McCain, Palin. They deserve to listen to whoever they want.

Hi. Welcome back. I hope you had a very restful vacation.
I agree with you on Dr. Gupta for SG. If they don't chose him, we'll (CNN, AC 360 crew and viewers) just have to have a march on Washington.

    January 8, 2009 at 10:43 pm |
  41. Ashley - Hamlin, NY

Haha...the Couric/Palin interview always makes me chuckle. "The interview heard around the world..."

Israel hates the UN. never like them and i don't think they care. and people like calling this a 'Genicide'. Israel will NEVER genicide a race. Israel was made after the Holocaust.

  44. Minou, New York City

Palin deserves to go on a permanent vacation.

I never imagined that "the Holy Land" would get violent like this. It's a shame. And what makes it even harder to see is the children that are being affected by all of this. It's heartbreaking. I feel like a couch potatoe just sitting here watching what's going on and not really being able to do anything about it.

i am very disappointed to see so many stories trying to blame the Travolta's for their sons death. it is a hard enough time for them without all the speculations.

they are loving parents, you can see it in the photos of them, they would never intentionally harm their child.

Hear, hear Mike in Syracuse; I know many cops in Chicago, the vast majority are fine, fine men and women

Fighting and battle strategy aside, I don't see any good of restricting humanitarian aid. Israel's fighting Hamas, not the civilians.

And side note: that boy who appeared in the window beside Amapour, behind that cart – he was grinning happily, it looked like. I hope that it wasn't fake, that there's some happiness over there in all the smoke and fire.

I agree with Maureen T – rioting is not the way to go! Whatever happened to peaceful protesting? It'd make much more of a statement, I think! I'll be praying for that man's family...
