I'm a United States Senator. And here's the proof?

Here is the certificate  from Gov. Rod Blagojevich appointing Roland Burris to the U.S. Senate.  The appointment was rejected on Monday because of the missing signature from Secretary of State Jesse White.  The Senate requires this signature, but White is opposing the appointment.

Perhaps Mr. Burris is ambitious to serve the people of Illinois, and perhaps he is just ambitious, but he has a lousy sense of timing – especially when contrasted with Bill Richardson, who, innocent or guilty (I'm predisposed to innocent), has considered the COUNTRY and the effects of a divisive collision between his ambitions and the need to move quickly on our serious issues. Re Burris's Senate credentials – give me a fairly good quality laser printer and I could make a better-looking certificate; there has to be a copy of Mr. White's signature on-line that could be copied, and the state seal – yeah, no problem. Anybody else want to be Senator from Illinois? here's your chance.

To me the only people hurting from this are the people from Illinois. If the state does not want Blagojevich to do his job then remove him from the position, until then I don't see how they can prevent him from doing his job by appointing a senator. He is legally still the governor not liking him or disapproving his actions does not take away the qualifications of Burris. Really there are way more important things the US Senate needs to be working on besides seating or not seating Burris. These folks need to grow up.

I'm sure Blagojevich is enjoying the drama he has created over this seat. It certainly takes the full glare of the spotlight off him at least for a little while. The Senate needs to seat Burris and get to work – there are other bigger fish to fry right now than playing "keep away" with a Senate seat.
