TAIPEI CITY

I've traveled the world from New York to Cairo to Cape Town to the jungle trains of South East Asia, but no other city's New Year's Eve celebrations have captured my heart like Taipei.
This is most definitely one city that knows how to ring in the New Year in style! And it's not even Chinese New Year yet! But that doesn't stop the celebrations.
With Taipei 101 as the city's centerpiece, the world's tallest occupied building, the inventors of all things firecracker light up this part of the world. They light up the entire city of Taipei and this, the Far East, shines!
Tonight on the streets surrounding Taipei 101 we heard well-wishes from quite literally all walks of life. Taiwanese, Chinese, the Japanese, from foreign expatriates from all over the globe. They're all here, they're most certainly all smiles, and wherever you are, we're wishing you well!
From Taipei with love - Happy New Year and all the best for 2009!

Love you Anderson and Kathy! Thanks for keeping it real with Kathy - gives it a lot of color on a big night! Minus the big dancer in hawaii its all good and all the were all the people outside having a contest on the ugliest hats they could find to report with????
HAPPY 2009!
Happy New Year 2009 from the Rio Grande Valley of South Texas. I love Anderson and on new years even better. I like Kathy, but she does not let Anderson talk, haha!
Be safe and Be happy!
I love Cathy, but please don't invite her back next year. I love your segments on CNN, but she over-shadowed you. I can't stand someone who talks to much. It's about you, not her.
Love you Kathy!
SCREW YOU BUDDY I'M WORKING HERE!
Happy New Years!
Happy New Year to my son and his family in Singapore from Cathi/grandma in Santa Fe, NM.
Happy 2009,Anderson and Kathy! Watched the celebrations on CNN,and the dropping of "the ball" from Times Square.
Now I know that the Chinese have the year of the "rat",the year of the "horse", etc., but after watching the show, I didn't realize that 2009 is the year of the Toshiba(sp?). (I'm referencing to the fact that all I could see under the big ball was the name– !Toshiba! ).Let me guess–Toshiba is the proud sponsor of the world's "biggest light-up ball"......
Shout out to NYPD keeping us safe tonight!

Hey Anderson and Kathy!!
Ok Kathy, I'm a big 'D List' fan and I remember watching the episode from last year's New Year's Eve broadcast where your staff did shots every time you called Anderson, 'Andy'... so I gotta ask... are this year's magic words "Ryan Seacrest"?
🙂
HAPPY NEW YEAR TO ANDERSON & KATHY!!!!!!!!!!!
Please show Paris fireworks for Andrew and Ashley from their Mom in far Northern CA. We have the giant redwoods here (to whom another year means less than nothing) but no fireworks on New Year's Eve! God love ya! (not you, Kath! 🙂

Dear Sanjay Gupta, Anderson Cooper, Lisa Ling and Planet in Peril,
I feel the endangerment of the mountain gorillas are scaring many citizens. I hope the mountain gorillas reproduce bountifully and have their area safe for them to roam.
I think the great white sharks are strongly elegant as well. Luckily, nothing happened to you, Anderson. I think the elephants should be trapped wisely. I think there should be a few gone at a time for ivory if necessary. I think that would suffice as far as money goes.
Thanks,
+Miss Autumn Song Cha
Happy New Year ! To Cute !
