New York senate? Of course, why not! Bring Camelot back!

I want to state that I will be supporting Caroline Kennedy for President in 2012 or 2016 depending on how well Obama does during his first term.

Caroline Kenndy is more qualified than the Nanny to be the New York Senator. If the Nanny becomes the appointed New York Senator, all New Yorkers will move away , no one can stand her laugh.. Right Anderson!!

  3. Never say Bernie again

The media treats Obama with kid gloves!
They will do the same for their pet, Caroline!

I dont trust media people anymore.
Who is Joe Johns married to? He gives me weird vibes.

It seems to me that in order to achieve something in congress you have to be a tough player...C Kennedy seems too nice and caring. Can she fight ?

Come on people! We all know that the only experience needed to be a politician of any sort is to be a person that goes back on their word (we call them liars in the real world) and someone who will say anything to achieve their goal. She can do a little community service in between the lies and she would be perfect!

Caroline Kennedy is as qualified as she needs to be. What has experience got us so far in Congress? Not much, and I have been watching them 67 years.

Caroline Kennedy is more experienced than Sonny Bono's wife was she acquired his seat. We need young people in the Congress. I'm 72 years old and a Republican, and I say go Caroline

Please explain why the Bush administration thought it was a good idea for our lame duck President to travel to Iraq?? Are we missing something here? Did McCain or Obama's people set this up as a joke? Shouldnt Bush be lame ducking in the White House or in Crawford Texas? Did anyone consider that he might be assasinated? Did he kiss and make up with the Iraqi people and jouranlist's forgot to report it? Whats up?

A frustrated Arab reporter threw his shoe at President Bush to show his opinion of the war in Iraq, as this reporter is witness to the 'civilian' deaths that go along with war, this Iraqi war... it is so unfortunate that the USA is mirroring the 'civilian' deaths in Iraq, that Israel has been creating with their collective punishment with the Palestinians in the Arab world.

President Bush and most Americans cannot see that when the USA looks in the mirror, the reflected image is 'WAR – Israel Style"

The Arab world use to enjoy our "LOVE – American Style"

This isn't how they see us now!

    Merry Christmas...

Take a moment and look up news on The Little Town of Bethlehem and you will see the 30' Cement Wall that surrounds it. Help your Christian brethren in Bethlehem this Christmas.

There is a fine line to cross when one "jokes" around about the disabled. If Governor Paterson got mad about the SNL skit, I don't really blame him.

I think we need new blood in the Senate, shoot in every area of politics. Experience is great, however, 10 plus years at the same job tends to lend to idol time aka the devils workshop. Plus she does not care about money. OMG, that is exactly what we need. Too many greedy politicians today. It is time for the people of America to say "enough!"

Caroline Kennedy is qualified as long as the people say so. Considering thats guys prerequisite, she is also qualified.

Maureen T-I didn't see her interview, and I am impressed this true New Yorker wants a chance to help where she came from...but do you think any of those elected to the Senate will take her serious? I don't...

I think Caroline Kennedy is qualified. Not only was she raised on politics, but she does have a law degree. She's not just some random person from alaska or anything (and that woman was running to be Vice President!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!)

    Blago Gate –

How are the Gov.'s actions any different than the everday politics on Capitol Hill? When we hear about pork being added to legislation in exchange for "support" on a vote, isn't that the same thing? Isn't Obama's pledge to help Clinton with her debt an exchange worthy of Blago? Is it a coincidence that Daschle, the Arizona Gov., and Bill Richardson – and now Caroline Kenneyd – a political payback for supporting Obama?

Seems like the same old politics to me.

If anyone has been exposed to extreme politics, it would be Caroline. She has lived it all her life! Long live JFK!

i think that caroline will be an asset for new yorkers since she has a good approach torch education and that is what new york needs.

Is it my imagination but was Hillary Clinton someone who ran for Senator from NY without ever being previously elected to office?

At least Caroline Kennedy grew up in and really is a New Yorker.

This is all the HRC people coming out of the woodwork and annoyed at Caroline for endorsing Obama early and often.

Sen Clinton can shut this down immediately if she wanted do– lets see if Sen Clinton really is a team player -

She is not qualified but i like her as a person. She seems too gentle for politics though – i don't know if she will like politics – its a dirty game. However, she has a great heart and in the end its all about good intentions. So i am just sitting and waiting to see

    JayPee,

You missed my point totally! "Just a shoe" what if next time that shoe has explosives? What if this sends a message that we are soft and it is ok to throw stuff at the President of the United States! I am not a bush fan. I would most likely be the last in line to support any repbulican. But this is still our leader. The MVP of American.

I’d rather see someone in the NY senate who knows what it is like to struggle, not some spoiled rich kid who never had to worry about the necessities of life.

And exactly who in the Senate is like that?

Hillary certainly did not have to struggle. She had a summer home in Scranton.

The 2 senators that immediately come to mind that had any legitimate struggles are Barack Obama and Joe Biden.

I think if its true she is an attorney and worked in this job then she is at least as qualified as Hillary was, Caroline has even more connections, maybe better ones

    @JoAnn,

it is true that caroline kennedy has avoided financial struggles, however, her personal struggles are enormous. she has struggled in other ways, i dont think it is about whether or not she is a 'rich kid' or not.

Anytime anyone makes fun of someone else's disabilities it is in bad taste.

    December 15, 2008 at 10:45 pm |
  26. Joe

I think weve had enough Kennedy's in politics. Ted Kennedy is a fantastic one to end with. Let's not start fresh with someone with little political experience and give the family a bad name.

  27. Abby, Los Angeles

Caroline Kennedy is definitely qualified to be senator! She's a well-educated lawyer and has been working for to improve education in New York public schools for years now. I think it's a great choice. She may not be a professional politician, but would that really be so bad with the corruption we've seen recently??

  28. Candace from Canada

Caroline Kennedy getting into politics is a positive example of the "American Dream" and what hard work can accomplish.

Ponzi scheme guy – and Blagovich – are examples of the American Dream to the extreme – too much of a good thing corrupting people.

    December 15, 2008 at 10:44 pm |
  29. Dave

Ms. Kennedy is no more or no less qualified than Hillary Clinton. The only thing Ms. Kennedy has going for her is she actually lives in the state, which Sen. Clinton did not

  30. Minou, New York City

I haven't seen the skit yet. But in general it is unfair and just mean to make fun of ppl with disabilities.

Caroline Kennedy would be a refreshing choice legacy or not. She , by all appearances is methodical, intelligient, and devoted to public service. Unlike certain other "public servants"; narcissism and hubris would not be labels that come to mind with her. Run Caroline run.

Don't agree with Shoe throwing: However no one can blame the people of that country for defending there country;;;; Think about it, 4 years and we still haven't found any Weapons Of Mass Destruction.... also It was BenLadden , not Sudaam that attack the US, so why are we spending Billions blowing up Iraq, and Billions more to rebuild it... all while dying at the hands of suicide bombers that don't want you over there......

If BenLaddan was over here in a Press Conference, I believer we would do more than throw a pair of Nikes' at him.....

Really what qualifications are required to be a senator besides good public opinion?
Is there a degree or a night class or something as I think most would be lacking – its politics it is a popularity contest – you get experience by doing the job – but you can't get experience until you have the job – welcome to the chicken and the egg scenario most job seekers find.

I do think Caroline Kennedy should wait and run for office. It looks a little iffy after being on the vetting team and now gets a free pass to office?

Is it just me, but it seems like Caroline Kennedy woke up this morning ad said "Gee I want to be a Senator."

    December 15, 2008 at 10:43 pm |

It makes more sense for her to be a senator from NY than Hillary. At least Caroline is from NY, Hillary is from IL.

Hillary should give up the Secretary of State position just to stick to the Kennedys. No way!

I tip my hat to Fran Drescher for throwing her name in though. I mean she grew up in New York, right? I saw her interview on Larry King and I'd say she'll give Caroline a run for her money.

This is no Joke and Should be the big news story.

I think that this reporter and anyone who attempts to harm the president should be jailed forever or excuted. We are in a hostal time in this world. A message needs to be sent to everyone that attacks on the president (who ever that may be) will not stand. In January we will have a new president. Not just new that this is his first term but new that no other race has ever been president. The majority of America voted for him but the ones that didn't there are a few in there that are not ready for change. I fear that if a message isn't sent that we will have someone else think that they can attack the president.
Also this was an attack by a person that is not a US citizen and not on american soil. This is a war crime and should be treated as such.

who cares about approval rating? it goes up and down.

I don't know if Caroline is qualified or not. I think with the state of the economy and the deficit I'd prefer a few less lawyers and a few more accountants.

    December 15, 2008 at 10:40 pm |
  47. Jolene, St. Joseph, MI

Let the Blagojevich impeachment hearings begin! I hope they televise them.

    December 15, 2008 at 10:40 pm |
  48. EJ (USA)

No way! If Caroline wants to be Senator, let her earn it in 2 years by getting out of her palace, work the streets and earn the votes of the comman man by shaking hands, kissing babies and going to all the working class towns of New York.

Why should she have to do anything differently than the other candidates right now? I hear there are about 10 other people in the running.

There will eventually be an election, but right now it has to be an appointment.
