'Obama Wins!,' newspaper declares

For The New Mexico Sun News it is either a major scoop or “Dewey Beats Truman” déjà vu 60 years later.

“Obama Wins!” is the headline of the edition on newsstands now, complete with “special collector’s edition” in red bold typeface.

The Sun News is a bi-monthly newspaper and its Oct 26-Nov 8 issue had to hit the streets, and the newsstands, before the election. So the editors decided to make a leap of faith and declare Democrat Barack Obama the winner.

In an article explaining their choice, the editors unabashedly wrote, “When it comes to calling the winner of a presidential election, everyone wants to be first. The New Mexico Sun News hereby claims that achievement.”

It is way too early to determine a victory. However, I hope that is the final verdict on this election!!!.

    Go Obama

The way the media has been covering this election, is truly pushing many people that otherwise may have been for Obama to vote for McCain. When I saw that Joe Biden's comment of "Is this a joke?" and "you're kidding right?" was barely covered, it really spoke volumes of where the media stands and how it is trying to influence this election. Lots of potential Obama votes may be lost due to these tactics.

Someone please remind Mr. Harry that Hawaii is a state in the USA. And what has Obama's place of Birth has to do with this messed-up economic situation?.... "open your eyes"...

Where I have been checking polls Obama has a 96.7% chance of winning today so maybe the leap of faith NM Sun Times is not to far fetched?

After all the bickering on the GOP side and Sarah Palin only caring about herself, it's amazing that not more papers are declaring an Obama victory.

Way too early to call it in my opinion... we swing state voters in PA haven't even decided yet!

But in response to Harry – do you honestly think Sen. Obama wasn't born in the US? Even if you are conservative, think it through logically – who would put that much energy into running for an office you don't even qualify for? Far too much on the line lost when people discover you aren't even born in the US.

As much as I want to see that on newspaper's, let's not get ahead of ourselves.

Jobs already being lost in large numbers, seems like you haven't been paying attention. Under Obama's tax plan, by putting more money back to the middle class, guess what? They will have money to spend to keep those businesses running and those businesses will be able to pay their increase in taxes. At the current tax rate, obviously it hasn't helped anybody because we still had foreclosures, we still have job loss, and even the largest of banks and investment companies came crumbling down. If the current tax has been so great, how come people are complaining about cost of gas and other energy comsumption? Doesn't make sense considering they had the largest tax break of them all over the last 8 years and still the companies broke down. Obviously you forgot that companies can only make money when people like us give it to them. If people are receiving a nickel instead of a quarter, they will only hold on tighter to their money, especially if you lost money in your 401K and other types of retirement accounts. If middle class prospers, you better believe companies will because they will have money to spend. No money,no company.

You might want to think about that!

Harry.... get with the news dude:
In October 2008 a federal judge dismissed the complaint:
In a 34-page memorandum and opinion, the judge said Berg's allegations of harm were "too vague and too attenuated" to confer standing on him or any other voters.

Surrick ruled that Berg's attempts to use certain laws to gain standing to pursue his claim that Obama was not a natural-born citizen were "frivolous and not worthy of discussion."

The judge also said the harm Berg alleged did "not constitute an injury in fact" and Berg's arguments to the contrary "ventured into the unreasonable."

I am not an American, but this Presidential race is so important. I wish I could vote Obama. I pray for his good health and the blessings of the Lord on him and his family.

Though I'm an obama supporter, I don't think it's appropriate for a newspaper to be in the business of predicting the news. They should just report it.

I think the key to the electoral map will be Ohio once again. If turn out is not good for Obama, and the close state races all go toward McCainm then Ohio will be a must win state. Ohio will be the key predicter Nov. 4.

    Go Barack!

I'd just like to point out that Barack Obama has been deemed eligible to be President, as he has proven his place of birth, in Hawaii.

I am tired of all the continued lies about his eligibility. The FBI vets candidates to determine their eligibility.

Finally some thruthful comments are on as well, what happened with the Obama fighters, looks like they are sure their man will be the president, and will distribute the wealth...etc. I used to live in a socialist country, I did escape the wealth distribution - I tell you it was not fun - I am amazed how is made fun of Palin, who happens to be a real rol model for women, 5 children and time for running an big office - beautiful inside out, bright and righteous –God Bless you Sarah Palin!

LARRY – That's only if McCain wins. and HARRY – Hawaii joined the Union in 1959 and Obama was born after that.to an American mother. But, McCain was born in Panama...which was never part of the States. So, he's the candidate who was not born in the states. It's only because his parents were US citizens that he qualifies. Nice try.

Even John McCain's brother won't vote for him! Yet knowing he's a Bush Clone and after eight years of Bush at the helm there are still Americans ready to vote McBush and his Rogue into offiice! Explain that for me please!

It would be kind of lame for them to come out on November 9th and declare Obama as the winner when the winner was decided November 4th.

Well hey – it's a bimonthly newspaper. They had to roll the dice and make a decision. I think they made a good decision.

If you want an accurate idea of what will happen on election day, then make your magic map like an office pool. Let viewers submit their version of what the final electorial map will look like, As a tie breaker maybe use closest to the actaul final popular vote. If the prize is large enough and your sample is large enough...then you'll know the winner before 11/04

That's most likley how it will play out...
And then four years later he will lose by the largest margin in history...
Once the taxes hit and company lay offs force un-employment over 10% people will realize what he's done...

But hey... we have to do this once in awhile... see Carter 76

It is beyond my comprehension that the media is featuring as headline news issues such as "Joe the Plumber" – Palin's "wardrobe" and the most recent event with that 20 year old with the "B" on her check is more important that our Constitution.
The Constitution requires that the candidate for president most be born in the US and he/she most present documentation to that fact. Senator McCain has done that but Senator Obama's case is in the court system with 8 days away from the election. The DNC and Senator Obama are stonewalling the system until after the election.
What will happen if Senator Obama is elected and it is disclosed he is not a 'Born in the USA" citizen?
I assume the constitution has no importance except as a "once important piece of paper."
Obama states that McCain still can not explain to the people this or that. Well, Senator Obama still can not verify proof of his US Birth.
    Who is the joke here?

How is this responsible.....I don't support either candidate, but I think the race will be closer than the polls indicate. Especially if people think well Obama's got it in his back pocket why vote....it's not over until it's over.
