Live Blog from the Anchor Desk 10/27/08

We are big fans of the live blog. Anderson, Erica and the entire staff of AC360° enjoy reading your comments. We respect your opinions and love the feedback. After all, without you the viewer, and you the reader, we are working all these hours for nothing.

Every night we get hundreds of comments. Many get posted, many others do not because of space and time limitations. NEWS FLASH: there are other reasons. People are breaking the rules. Here's a quick recap of the guidelines:

1. Use your real name.
2. Stay on topic.
3. We like criticism. But keep it intelligent and thoughtful, perhaps even constructive.
4. Don't write in ALL CAPS.

Yes, I know you can obey the rules and still not get posted. Refer back to "space and time limitations." Please keep trying – like I said we really do value your input.

On the program tonight: with only a week of campaigning left, Barack Obama is trying to close the deal, and John McCain is trying to stop him. The battlefield, Ohio and Pennsylvania. Two campaigns on the same turf but in very different circumstances. We'll have reports from the field and talk over today's developments with the Best Political Team in Television.

Don’t forget to watch Erica Hill’s webcast during the commercials.  LINK TO WEBCAST

And take a look at Anderson and Erica on our live web camera from the 360° studio. We’ll turn the camera on at 945p ET and turn it off at 11p ET. LINK TO THE BLOG CAMERA

We’ll start posting comments at 10p ET and stop at 11p ET.

This is a horrible thing that has happened to the Hudson family. It was very unnerving when cnn was able to show live film of the coronors office taking pictures of the vehicle where the little boy was found in the car.

    Ohh... please Anderson.

It would be wonderful, and a relief to have some smiles on our faces after all this turmoil.

I am just so upset for their family, why did they have to destroy such a beautiful child. i think the entire loss is tragic, but just a 7 year old boy, i actually cried in my car on the way to NOLA when i heard it on the radio.

    Anderson:
You and your staff should dress up as Star Trek characters. The desk you sit at looks like the helm of the Starship Enterprise. Or you should dress as reality t.v. celebs.
    What do you think?

We seem to have accepted our economic fate for now, Dow down, and no Velshi on the show!! Futures wrong 2 trading days in a row, but that is not news, we would rather talk about Palin's clothes.

Why is there no extensive reporting on the assassination attempt that was just thwarted? I would rather hear about this as opposed to Sarah's wardrobe.

Erica Hill could dress up as Sarah Palin? but i guess that's boring now since half the country is going to be her for h'ween...

Erica Hill already had a good costume of you Anderson. Who would you be? Roland Martin or maybe Larry King. That would be funny!

Again, also, I would like to say David Gergen is a class act. I believe he has been one of few that has maintain his integrity and speaks the truth. Which has been exception on all the media stations. I can not wait until 5 November when this is all over. Thank you Gergen for keeping it real!!!

Anderson, you don't have to have a costume on Friday, you can "treat" or "trick" us by just "busting a move". You know, show us you know how to dance. Show the 360 Stage Crew up with your dancing abilities 😉

The halloween thing's not for me. It glorifies the devil and things evil. I prefer to attend church that night.

The Gergen costume would require plastic wrap (not Sarahn) and a scalpel; for the clarity and precision that are key aspects of who he is. Oh, and a mouthpiece with an American flag; voice of the people!!!

    October 27, 2008 at 10:44 pm |
  28. Geno Gray

My wife is active duty navy, and I am thinking of dressing up as her for Halloween...what do you think?

It is not just the money ... it is how many people contributed to Obama's campaign. Those are solid votes!

I can't believe how low John McCain has gone today. And Sara is a pitbull with lipstick. Remember they turn on their own master...

You cannot contribute to the Obama from the Web without filling out proper information and satifying certain criteria. The Obama campaign can release the information and not worry about anything.

    October 27, 2008 at 10:43 pm |
  37. Fjola, NC

David Gergen- the responsibility is with the McCain and their inability to talk about anything of substance. Why would they bring this nonsense up again this weekend? Seems like their campaign is a mess.

    Hi Anderson,

No children so I will dress my two chihuahuas on Halloween to campaign for Obama. They don't "pal" around with Pit Bulls!

    October 27, 2008 at 10:42 pm |
  42. April Jones from Mamou, LA

Obama is campaigning with the campaign money and Palin is dressing herself and tagging alone uninvited guest with their campaign money.

The unofficial "Halloween Costume Poll" taken in Ohio today predicts a McCain victory. The store was sold out of McCain masks, but there were several Obama masks left on the shelves.

At work we're rating the best costume. I believe the best costume gets a free dinner...So what would you consider going as for halloween Anderson??

    gergen should do uncle fester

  46. Dr. Kevin Keough

    Hey Anderson,

Give David Gergen another opportunity to remind us how bizarre it is we continue to focus on Palin's clothes, Biden's gaffes, and all the nonsense.

"We're mad as hell and we're not going to take it anymore"......either they discuss substantive and consequential issues or we cancel the elections.

The candidates ought go out for Halloween dressed in diapers as whining whiners........................

    October 27, 2008 at 10:42 pm |
  47. Jermaine (NJ)

A staff costume theme. Genius! U must use the crew and their dance moves as part of the Halloween theme. Watching them dance is too funny.

    October 27, 2008 at 10:42 pm |
  48. Jayne

I didn't realize this blog was about your Halloween costumes. I thought it would be about some "issues" other than more "dress-up" talk. guess I'll look elsewhere.
