We are big fans of the live blog. Anderson, Erica and the entire staff of AC360° enjoy reading your comments. We respect your opinions and love the feedback. After all, without you the viewer, and you the reader, we are working all these hours for nothing.

Every night we get hundreds of comments. Many get posted, many others do not because of space and time limitations. NEWS FLASH: there are other reasons. People are breaking the rules. Here's a quick recap of the guidelines:

1. Use your real name.
2. Stay on topic.
3. We like criticism. But keep it intelligent and thoughtful, perhaps even constructive.
4. Don't write in ALL CAPS.

Yes, I know you can obey the rules and still not get posted. Refer back to "space and time limitations." Please keep trying – like I said we really do value your input.

On the program tonight: with only a week of campaigning left, Barack Obama is trying to close the deal, and John McCain is trying to stop him. The battlefield, Ohio and Pennsylvania. Two campaigns on the same turf but in very different circumstances. We'll have reports from the field and talk over today's developments with the Best Political Team in Television.

Don’t forget to watch Erica Hill’s webcast during the commercials.  LINK TO WEBCAST

And take a look at Anderson and Erica on our live web camera from the 360° studio. We’ll turn the camera on at 945p ET and turn it off at 11p ET. LINK TO THE BLOG CAMERA

We’ll start posting comments at 10p ET and stop at 11p ET.

If you're not going to dance you have to tell us what you're dressing up as on Halloween, Anderson!

I'm going to dress up as a diva for Halloween. I need $150,000 to accomplish this though.

Kevin, thats great that your wife has less than 50 days left in iraq. We did an event for vets last week in ny, and it was so moving talking to family members who still have loved ones over in iraq and afghanistan. i think most people dont fully appreciate or understand the sacrifices that familys of our servicemembers make. Please thank your wife for me for her service, and i hope she gets home quick.

Anderson, Are you asking Erica? You should dress up as her and she as you! Wouldn't that be a hoot?

I will say that when Erica dressed as you Anderson, that was definitely pretty funny.

Anderson, If you have a staff Halloween party you must post the photos! So when are you going to dress up like Erica?

I think Joe Biden responded appropriately to Barbara West. What kind of journalist asks such a stupid inappropriate question? Oh, I know, a republican journalist whose husband is a republican stratigist.
As far as the Obama campaign and the money he has been able to gather, I happily give money to that campaign as often as I can. I couldn't be happier about how it's being spent. I see it as an investment in my future, my kids future, and my grandchildren's future, an investment well spent.

I agree with David Gergen, we already live in a society the redistributes wealth. I find it interesting that Republicans fail to remember their role in redistributing wealth from the wealthy to the lower income families with the Earned Income Credit. Now we have a society where the 1% continues to become richer and the middle class and lower income families continue to slip further behind – and for some reason Republicans thinks that's okay. Something wrong here?

You've got to love Joe Biden...He says out loud what others say to themselves.
    Keep Give Them Hell Joe!!!
    Now that's a V.P.!

David put so much in historical perspective, as a history buff I love
that. He makes everyone realize issues aren't necessarily new, we're just in a new age.

Goog evening, to CNN staff. My family heart, and sympathy goes out to the Hudson, and King family. May God, and prayer keep the family, and friends strong though these hard, and trying times. Oh one more thing i'm not much up on the polls, but Palin is up on McCain by 8 points.

  20. Glen Up North

About the "wardrobe" thing, my two cents on the issue is that politics (and most likely the media as well) are trying to get people who aren't interested in politics interested in the vote. Otherwise, why bother talking about it?

About Jennifer Hudson's situation: yes, it is sad indeed. My thoughts go out to her. Fame and/or fortune do not necessarily guarantee a worry-free life. Here is a heartbreaking example.

I can't understand why everyone is saying Sen Biden response to the question that insinuates that Barack Obama tax plan is Marxist was angry.

He simply seemed appauled by the obvious absurdity of the question.

    Hi Anderson,

My son, aged 9, is wearing this horrifying mask- the first time I looked at it I screamed HORROR and I told him I would never look at it again. It totally spooked me out, and made sure he wears it only during this Halloween and then please discard it.
Me?? Hmm, I don't think so. The last time I remember which was almost 18 years ago, I was a "witchdoctor" for Halloween.
What about you Anderson?? Any sccaarry costume this year?? All I can say is don't eat too much candy.

I thought Joe Biden lost a great opportunity to answer the Obama Marxist question today. Instead he chose to give a wise acre answer.
    It figures.

My son and his family gave me a preview of their costumes yesterday. They are dressed as the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles..don't know what was funnier my 6'3" son or my little grandsons! The boys (Alexander and Anderson!) are the cutest 8 month old turtles you've everyseen. They were crawling all over in their little green pj's with bike helmets painted like shells strapped to their backs! It was a hoot! Made me feel more ancient than your MTV concert this weekend. I once took their father to see TMNT's in concert! Think I will just go as a little old lady!!

Gergen is absolutely great. Fantastic man who knows what comprise the sensible issues to discuss on a news show. Go Cantabs 😉

Anderson, you need to get more time with Ed Rollins to represent the right. He's another intelligent and articular chap and it is fantastic listening to discussions with David G and Ed Rollins – much better than the right wing noisemaker Kay Buchanan CNN insists on trotting out.

  27. Kevin B. Eugene, OR

I will be working on halloween so I won't get to dress up for Halloween night so my holiday is kind of shot, which is a bummer.

By way of politics, I am ready for this election to be over. The negative campaign ads and debating get old fast (and yes both candidates are guilty).

On a more positive note, my wife has less than 50 days left in IRAQ. Cannot wait. God Bless America

P.S. Anderson, I loved the book.

I cannot believe that anyone is foolish enough to believe McCain's lies. Haven't you heard enough already. Anyone who votes for him because they believe him, especially about taxes, deserves another 4 years of Bush.

John McCain chose Sarah Palin for what I believe to be the wrong reasons; there were obviously better choices, and I believe he chose her because she's a female; now I think if anything is sexist, THAT is. She is obviously all about Sarah, not this country. Any time a "leader" leads with ego, and simply tries to create fear, uses manipulation, and can't even answer questions with an intelligent, in-depth answer, it's reason to worry. John McCain got what he deserved by her acting as though SHE is running for president-I'd trust my grade school neighbor kids to run this country before I'd trust her.

On the "spreading the wealth around" issue - has anyone else considered that taking $300 billion in tax dollars and giving to banks that made bad decisions or using tax dollars to buy up some, but not all, defaulted mortgages and renegotiating them down to affordable levels is exactly the same thing. McCain not only has no problem with these strategies, he advocates them.

    October 27, 2008 at 10:33 pm |
  36. David Jenkins

Barbara West's question was out of line and clearly a partisan question based on how the question was phrased, in addition to the fact that she is a registered republican and her husband is a republican strategist.

That was an audition for the Fox News Network...LOL!

  37. Sophie MN

One of the things I really enjoy about listening to David is that he does appeal to my rather crusty leftist self with a real center, reminders that things weren't always this polarized and the vast difference between the Regan republicans and what the party has morphed into – the center is still the majority and it looks like the Republican party needs a fast demographic lesson again.

Also the socialist thing is effective, but it's way too late, I agree with John King.

    October 27, 2008 at 10:33 pm |
  38. Corey James

NO lie...David Gergen is a genious. as is John King

    October 27, 2008 at 10:33 pm |
  39. Anil Nagalla

I do not understand how can McCain and Sarah call Obama a socialist when Bush just had to spend 650B into financial insitutions

Well guess it was because it sounds cool to call someone like that

Mr. Gergen ... that was a good tidbit about earned income credit. Appreciate your insight.

It seems that reporter who interviewed Biden doesn't realize that Marx was paraphrasing Acts 2:44-45 :

"All the believers were together and had everything in common. They sold property and possessions to give to anyone who had need."

    October 27, 2008 at 10:32 pm |
  46. Jason in Wisconsin

West was wrong. Watch her interview with McCain. She basically prods him into going after Obama about his past relationships.

Her motives are evident and Biden handled himself well.

    October 27, 2008 at 10:32 pm |
  47. Brenda Roberts

Agree Max – Biden is wonderful! His expression was priceless today.

  48. Cindi Abbott

This " spread the wealth" and "socialist" bit seems to be gaining traction. Obama needs to go on TV Thursday night, look directly into the camera, and say, " If you are Goober and Gladys Q. America, my tax policy will help you. If you are Donald Trump or Bill Gates, then John McCain is your man."

    October 27, 2008 at 10:31 pm |
  49. Gabe

Joe Biden did answer the question....The anchor compares him to a "marxist" , a socialist, a terrorist, a muslim. What is Next? That anchor was so wrong.

    October 27, 2008 at 10:31 pm |
  50. merrell

Biden reacted and responded perfectly to that news anchor. She was trying to goad him and raise a red flag. She was a joke and he thought she was too. Why bother to give her the additional airtime?
