Ha! Anderson's finally gotten a chance to make someone ELSE embarrassed and squirming–poor David Gergen–but I do agree with all the Gerg love.

"Joe the plumber" as well as "Joe six-pack" should pray for an Obama victory...a tax cut would be in their future. Clearly "Joe the plumber" will not be sharing his wealth with anyone...no worries.

  14. Amy Caison

Dalals FOrt worth is also getting robocalls from the RNC btw. Thank goodness we have real Dems calling people here too:)

  17. Mesha

Hey does anyone realize that "Joe the Plumber" has conducted more interviews than Sarah Palin. Wow.

    October 16, 2008 at 10:19 pm |
  18. Maureen T

Good evening Anderson! I respect Ed Rollins opinion considering he is a republican!

    October 16, 2008 at 10:19 pm |
  19. Phylliss

Joe the Plumber was a plant. Nothing "Joe" said in the clip Anderson just ran would indicate–in any way–that Joe is an Obama supporter. Quite the contrary. He's obviously a McCain supporter and I suspect he was a plant with the full knowledge of the McCain compaign.

    October 16, 2008 at 10:19 pm |
  20. Linda32

Robocall is bad simply because of McCain's statement yesterday. he doesn't care about a washedout terroirist. Yet he is calling people and leaving this message.

    October 16, 2008 at 10:19 pm |
  21. gerry

Actually, I think what the McCain campaign did to Joe the plumber is awful. Im sure he didnt sign up for all this media attention and broadcast of information of owing taxes.

    October 16, 2008 at 10:19 pm |
  22. sanja

Joe is the latest joke in McCain campaign. He was always going to vote for McCain and never was independent. I can't believe he said that social security should be eliminated. That by itself tells that he was as far right as you can be.

    October 16, 2008 at 10:19 pm |
  23. Martie

Joe the Plumber is the textbook example of why the trickle down theory never works for the less fortunate: those at the top never allow it to trickle down, except perhaps to the Mercedes' dealers, the resort owners, the private jet consortiums, etc.

    October 16, 2008 at 10:19 pm |
  24. Minou, New York City

Yes, somebody plz explain what a "robo call" is...

    October 16, 2008 at 10:18 pm |
  25. Robert - Black Diamond, Wa

Robo Calls are annoying but I guess if your down like McCain is you do what's necessary to win or cast doubt that Obama a bad choice. The "Joe the Plumber" thing is played out...Oh!!! and Anderson love your show.

    October 16, 2008 at 10:18 pm |
  26. Danielle - Randolph, NJ

Why do they keep talking about "Joe" in this campaign. What happened to "John Smith?" Yes Jason, I agree. The only Joe I care about is Biden.

    October 16, 2008 at 10:17 pm |
  27. Brad

I am not criticizing the plumber, I am criticizing the media. Leave the guy alone. Let's get back to the issues please

    October 16, 2008 at 10:17 pm |
  28. j. carroll

    Jason in Wisconsin.

It does seem that Candy Crowley is becoming more anti Obama, great observation.

    October 16, 2008 at 10:17 pm |
  29. Mike, Syracuse NY

Hey John, McCain's comment about $5 million was a joke, and he even said at the time it would be taken out of context. He was right, the Omama campaign has twisted what he said, as they have twisted reality time after time.

    October 16, 2008 at 10:17 pm |
  30. Jean - Dallas

No wonder Joe the Plummer did not want to pay any taxes and hates any kind of tax obligation, seems he does not believe in any kind of taxes period because..........he already owes back taxes!!!!

    October 16, 2008 at 10:17 pm |
  31. Bradley S (Knoxville, TN)

I love Joe the plumber, but I love Barack Obama more that's why I voted for Obama/Biden in 2008 today!

    October 16, 2008 at 10:17 pm |
  32. raymond casey

I think Obama did an outstanding job at the fund raiser tonite he was really showing he can be just one ofus.

    October 16, 2008 at 10:17 pm |
  33. Tracy

Be careful who you mock. Hardworking people allow you guys to sit around in suits and make your living by talking. Joe the plumber and his opinions are worth just as much as yours.

    October 16, 2008 at 10:16 pm |
  34. Zachary in Chicago

Joe the plummer is right on all the issues– immigration, Iraq. Seems like a guy I'd like to have a beer with!

    October 16, 2008 at 10:16 pm |
  35. Ruby Jones

Anderson I was just going to ask if his name is really Joe. Why give him air time? Why are they even talking about him instead of the real problems in the country: The economy and home mortgages among other issues.

(oh yeah gas prices in Salinas $3.26/ gal. WOW!)

    October 16, 2008 at 10:16 pm |
  36. Kathy, Chicago

Obama is dismissive. He seems to think that people are rich when they are not.

    October 16, 2008 at 10:16 pm |
  37. Tracey - Boston

I'm usually on top of things. How did I miss this...what is the Robo calls?

    October 16, 2008 at 10:15 pm |
  38. Rick in Florida

McCain vetted Joe the plumber the same way he vetted Palin

    October 16, 2008 at 10:15 pm |
  39. Megan Dresslar (Shoreline, Wa)

    I agree with bloggers,
I am tired of Joe the plumber........ I felt bad for him!!! yes, he owe the taxes back.

    October 16, 2008 at 10:14 pm |
  40. Paula, Colorado

    Anderson,
Hi! The charity event was great after the seriousness of the debate last night. I hope Obama maintains his lead in the campaign throughout the weeks ahead.

    October 16, 2008 at 10:14 pm |
  41. Patty

    Joe phenom is just weird.

    October 16, 2008 at 10:13 pm |
  42. Jason in Wisconsin

The only Joe I care about is named Joe Biden.

    October 16, 2008 at 10:13 pm |
  43. John

Since Joe (Samuel) only makes 40,000 a year, the republicans don't even care about him. John McCain said in an interview that "middle class" meant you make 5 million dollars. Joe is only 1 opinion, lets talk with the other thousands of voters.

    October 16, 2008 at 10:13 pm |
  44. Claire

So, seniors are supposed to do what without social security, JOE?

    October 16, 2008 at 10:13 pm |
  45. CaseyJ - Palm Springs, CA

Wow! "Wurzelbacher"–I have never heard that name!

    October 16, 2008 at 10:13 pm |
  46. Fay, CA

Can someone tell Joe the Plumber that his 15 minutes are over.

    October 16, 2008 at 10:13 pm |
  47. kay

McCain and RNC doing nasty robo calls in ohio.I received a call and I am on the do not call list. This has to stop.

    October 16, 2008 at 10:13 pm |
  48. Kristen

I find it amusing that Joe the Plumber is now a household name.

    Evening Anderson!

    October 16, 2008 at 10:13 pm |
  49. Arthur

McCain should of chosen Joe the plumber as the VP. He seems to be doing more interviews than Palin. Palin has been treated more like a campaign staff member rather than a VP.

    October 16, 2008 at 10:12 pm |
  50. Martie

I was surprised to hear that the RNC robocalls were being sent into Texas – I thought the Repubs had that one sewn up.
