O.J. Simpson is on trial for robbery and kidnapping charges nearly a year after police arrested him in Las Vegas, Nevada. Prosecutors say Simpson and five other men stormed into a Las Vegas hotel room last September 13 to recover sports memorabilia that Simpson said belonged to him. They say at least two men with Simpson had guns as they robbed two sports memorabilia dealers. The following dispatches come from our Paul Vercammen covering the trial.

Vanity Fair writer Dominick Dunne was taken to Valley Hospital in Las Vegas shortly after complaining of pain.
Dunne was sitting in court listening to testimony in the O.J. Simpson kidnapping and armed robbery trial.
Just before 10 this morning Dunne grabbed me and said "I am in a lot of pain. Lot of pain," he then motioned toward an area below his belt.
"I want to go back to my hotel."
Dunne, who is battling bladder cancer, looked ashen as he gingerly left the courtroom.
Court marshals called paramedics and Dunne was taken to the hospital.
UPADTE:
“I’m okay, I am doing fine under the circumstances,” Dunne said from the hospital just before 11am PT.
“But this probably means that I will have to go back to New York in the next few days.” Dunne said against doctor’s orders, he flew to Las Vegas to cover the O.J. Simpson trial.
When testimony began last week Dunne told fellow journalists and writers it was great to be back working after his “difficult summer,” alluding to his bladder cancer.

Emigdio Preciado Jr. had no idea his boot scootin’ shuffle at a party in Mexico would become the best clue police have in bringing him to justice.
Preciado is one of the most wanted people in America. Find him and collect the FBI’s $150,000 reward. And what better way to begin looking than by checking out his dance tape.
Off the dance floor, 2000 was a notorious year for Preciado. On September 5th, authorities say he tried to kill two Los Angeles County sheriff's deputies.
According to the FBI, Preciado was pulled over for a routine traffic stop in Whittier, California. For reasons only he can explain, Preciado opened fire on the officers, shooting a total of 21 rounds before fleeing the scene.
One bullet struck a deputy in the head. Both survived.
8-years later, Preciadio is still on the loose, and probably still dancing. Check out the videotape.
Maybe you can help catch him.

Musicians DJ AM and Travis Barker should fully recover from severe burns they suffered during a fiery jet crash in South Carolina that killed four people, a doctor said Sunday.
DJ AM, whose real name is Adam Goldstein, and Barker, the former drummer for Blink-182, are being treated at the Joseph Still Burn Center in Augusta, Georgia, after suffering second- and third-degree burns in Friday night's crash, said Dr. Fred Mullins, the center's executive director.
Barker received burns on his torso and lower body from the jet crash late Friday. Goldstein was burned on his arm and head, Mullins said.
Though he expects a full recovery, Mullins said Barker and Goldstein could be hospitalized for weeks. Watch charred wreckage of the plane »
Investigators, meanwhile, are trying to determine whether a blown tire caused the crash, which happened during takeoff from the Columbia Metropolitan Airport...

As the O.J. Defense team begins cross examining Tom Riccio, the lawyers continue what seems to be a game of "break the momentum."
Both sides have used objections and asked for bench conferences throught the trial. At times it feels like a basketball coach calling timeout to slow down the opponents.
The cross examination of Riccio has gotten extremely problematic as Judge Glass has repeatedly told the witness to just answer yes or no and not offer explan

O.J. Simpson arrived at the courthouse just before 8 this morning for what promises to be a day of heated cross examination by his defense team.
After the prosecution finishes questioning collectibles dealer Tom Riccio, Simpson's lawyers will grill the chatterbox witness about conflicts in testimony over the kidnapping and armed robbery charges.
Riccio helped set up the sting for Simpson to get back belongings and sports memorabilia.
Riccio also secretly recorded conversations before, during and after the deal that went sour in the Palace Station Hotel.

Democrats eager to portray John McCain as out of touch with average Americans and as a flip-flopper seized on a report Sunday the Arizona senator and his wife, Cindy, own more than a dozen cars — including several foreign-made automobiles.
A Newsweek article published on the magazine's Web Site Sunday said registration records show the McCains currently own 13 cars — two of which are foreign-made: a Honda and a Volkswagen. That appears to contradict the Republican presidential nominee's past statements he only buys cars made in America. (Cindy McCain also drives a Lexus and daughter Meghan owns a Toyota Prius, but neither are registered to the McCains.)
Newsweek also reported Barack Obama owns one car: a Ford Escape Hybrid...

If you happened to catch “60 Minutes” last night you may remember the moment John McCain was asked by correspondent Scott Pelley, “Is Sarah Palin qualified to be President?”
McCain’s response: “Absolutely.”
Pelley asked again: “Qualified for President?”
McCain responded again without flinching: “Absolutely.”
John McCain then went on to explain his reasoning, noting that within her own state, Palin is the “most popular governor in the country.”
Does popularity as governor qualify you to be president?
What about foreign credentials?
60 Minutes asked what kind of foreign or international experience Palin has, but McCain sidestepped that one.
While I was in Alaska the last two weeks covering Palin, the McCain/Palin campaign had announced Sarah Palin had visited Iraq. A campaign spokesman told me she had been inside Iraq during a trip with the Alaska National Guard. He told me he was “100 percent” sure, and that this was “a fact.”
But the military doesn't back that up. And two sources at the Alaska National Guard told us that Sarah Palin never stepped foot inside Iraq. She went to the Iraq/Kuwait checkpoint but never passed through. She stayed on the Kuwaiti side, we were told, because she didn’t have the proper paperwork to get into Iraq.
Also, the press had been told Palin had visited Ireland, only to be told days later by the campaign “it was a refueling stop.” That doesn't exactly qualify as a visit to a foreign country.
This week, Palin will be getting a bit of a crash course in foreign relations. She’ll be meeting with Henry Kissinger, President Karzai and President Uribe of Colombia. Also, Georgian President Mikhail Saakashvili, Ukranian President Viktor Yushchenko among others. Will that make her better qualified to be President, if something were to happen to John McCain?
Or is she already qualified, as McCain says?

Good morning folks, what a mix of news this morning. Certainly the big headline continues to be the $700 billion dollar federal bailout that Treasury Secretary Henry Paulson will try to push through Congress this week. That sounds like a serious amount of money, doesn’t it? The fast moving events of the stock market, White House, and Congress dominate the media landscape this Monday morning, and we will be all over this coverage which seems to be ‘Bigger’ at this point than the election horserace we have been covering so closely for you. That said, we can certainly expect the candidates to jump into this fray today and offer their 2 cents.
John McCain is already expressing concern that this fed bailout gives too much power to Secretary Paulson and is calling for a bipartisan committee to oversee it. We should also hear today if Mccain will return to Washington to work on this proposal with Congress. Meanwhile Barack Obama called this $700 bn cost ‘sobering’ and called for a series of principles the deal must meet, including ‘no blank check’ and help for homeowners facing losing their homes. Both candidates called for no federal money to be used to help Wall Street execs. Candy Crowley and Dana Bash will follow the candidates today and bring us their latest news from the campaign trail.
