I differ. Obama's ads are not lies. He has not told one lie in his ads. Maybe an out of context of LImbaugh but no lies about McCain. McCain make ad hominem statements about Obama and the campaign with no basis in truth of any kind.

Thankfully the economic meltdown occurred now and not after the election.

People can see how such Republican policies as deregulation of the financial industry and embarking on wars of choice instead of diplomacy are bankrupting working people, and causing the wealthy to loose sleep.

That house speaks to the owners choice of making their home hurricane proof.... you did a great job... but devastation doesn't mean giving up on your own foresight and readiness to be prepared. You just might want to settle into a community where your neighbors are working for what is also important to you.

If Obama doesn't go negative then he will seem weak, so he has too

Unfortunately we do have to go negative...I am relieved that the Democrats show they can put up a fight. We have to make sure 2000,2004 never happens again....

So for people who decide to donate to Obama or McCain are paying for the negative ads that we hate to watch.

Oh God help us, the same poeple who got us into this mess are deciding how to get us out?In the real world they would have been fired!

Jason makes an excellent remark. Comparison mentions both options (both candidates) but that is not a bad thing. "Compare and contrast" is the normal way of choosing between to options.

Name-calling, lies, racism, sexism, and blind dogmatism are the problem.

Obama's Spanish language ad is not only negative but dangerous.

Obama doesn’t need to go negative, he is negative.

Right! And McCain is so very positive. 🙁

Although that house is in bad shape it kind of looks like a little sign of hope that the community will come back as strong as ever. I hope that they will try to salvage something from it.

That is really sad about her home being the only one left standing when all around her are gone. I can imagine the pain they must all feel. I hope they can recover soon. I will pray for all of them.

That is a shame. I wish that house would have faired better through the storm. It is amazing that it is still standing at all.

Its amazing see her one house standing. i wish her and all her neighbors well....

85 Billion to bailout AIG. Complete devastation from Hurricane IKE – there one house standing in the clip Anderson just showed. What's happengin to America – period?

    September 18, 2008 at 10:53 pm |
  24. Lorie Ann, Buellton, California

What Mother Nature did pounding in Ike is so hard to see. The house standing is a sight that brings home how much the victims still need our help.

  25. Ana-Boston

it's so sad to see all the houses gonna.

Both candidates exagerate on facts in their ads. I don't like it but that's politics and theatre. It's the viewers responsibility to decipher the truth.

Poor Pam. Her house was/is so beautiful. That is such a lonely and depressing site to see that one lone house.

Goodnight, y'all. See you later Anderson and Erica.

    Take care.

Barack is running ads, they are not negative. Did you all hear the definition of Negative that they used.

Fact check says Baracks ad's are pretty true. McCain should stop making gaffs, like $5m is middle class, yeah, 100 years, the fundamentals of the economy are good, then Barack could not put out an add proving the stupid stuff McCain says.

That house just by itself is quite something to see.

    They are all lying!

Obama's commercials are truthful in that, during this campaign, McCain changed his positions so they are now very close to those of Rush Limbaugh in the quotes.

With all of the economic turmoil, the debates are going to take on a whole new level. The one who makes the country feel "safest" will be our next president.

When John McCain fights for the rich, they say Obama is a wimp. When Obama fights for the midle class there's a problem? I don't know about you but my economic stats are hurt because of the lack of oversight by the republicans. They did a bad job and when you do a bad job you get FIRED!!!!

I am glad that the Palin's do not want to cooperate in Troopergate – it just means that McCain has to run two campaigns at the same time...oh wait, he already is doing that – one against Obama/Biden and another against Dubya!

All of their adds distort and stretch the truth. People are more willing to respond to the negativity, which I just heard mentioned. Sad but true, if you're sick of the negative adds look no further than our society.

    Hey Anderson,
You have got to wonder what Sarah and the 'dude' have got to hide! If there is no truth to the allegations, it would give the country a better appreciation of her authenticity to just come clear on this. Their silence with this investigation is speaking volumes.

    September 18, 2008 at 10:49 pm |
  39. Emma

Fay, Obama's ads about McCain's position on education and immigration are untrue.

  40. Margaret Wilson

Obama should not back down. Not at all keep up on what is really happening with our country. Put concrete plans in front of the people who pay taxes.

  41. Mike, Syracuse NY

Looks like Obama can tell his share of lies.

    Anderson,

About "negative ads." I think you need to make sure that you distinguish between smear and truthful critical ads. Make sure lies are pointed out and truths are not put down but rather pointed out.
