ON THE TRAIL:Sen. John McCain begins his day alone in Florida before joining his running mate, Gov. Sarah Palin, at a rally in Vienna, OH. Sen. Barack Obama has an event in Golden, CO and Sen. Joe Biden hosts a town hall meeting in Media, PA.
RAW POLITICS:Wevley Shea is a Republican and an admirer of Gov. Sarah Palin. He says he warned Palin back in July that the probe into whether or not she used the power of the Governor’s office to carry out a personal vendetta against her former brother-in-law was turning into a serious problem for her and told her how to handle it. Shea says she didn’t listen and now her husband and a dozen aides are under subpoena. Could things have turned out differently if Gov. Palin took his advice? Randi Kaye will have that report.
TOUMA MURDER CASE: A hearing is scheduled for Edgar Patino who is accused of the murder of Army Spc. Megan Touma in June 2008.
EMPEROR'S CLUB SENTENCING: Mark Brener, who pled guilty to prostitution and money laundering conspiracy, is scheduled to be sentenced. Allegedly, former NY governor Eliot Spitzer was a client of the Emperor's Club.
PETRAEUS BECOMES COMMANDER OF U.S. CENTRAL COMMAND: Gen. David Petraeus takes over as Commander of U.S. Central Command. Lt General Raymond T. Odierno will take over command of the forces in Iraq.
O.J. SIMPSON TRIAL CONTINUES:Today the jury heard an audiotape of the confrontation in the hotel room where the alleged robbery occurred. And an alleged victim in the case, Bruce Fromong, became ill after several hours of testimony. Fromong is 54 years old and says he has had four heart attacks. Will he be back on the stand? I wish these candiates would stick to the issues and stop this attack ads .It gets awy form the really torubling times.Icouldn't care les about lipstick and pig references it's getting a litle over used .The only diffrence between a polticain and a pig is lipstick-ok that's it I've got it all out of my system now ! Lets' get bak to the issues .

I'm curious to see if McCain will further obscure his comments about the economy as the news cycles soak his mistake up today. It was one thing to say the economy was "strong" months ago, but it's ridiculous to say it today and embarrasing to do so while trying to redefine the comment itself (double-jeaprody).
I also think the "lies" story was a good move by the media. I don't think the Obama campaign has been as far-fetched in it's own statements (more traditional spin if you ask me), but I do agree those crap ads about Obama wanting to teach kindergarteners sex education was way, way, way too far. That Tucker guy should be embarassed for claiming he's part of a "truth" campaign and I'll see the McCain we all used to like, respect, and believe in when he makes a public apology for that one.
Oh, and Gov. Palin, your one-liner about the "Bridge to Nowhere" is turning into a serious "Bridge to Nowhere".
Andy I am sure alot of people in CA are going to check the LA Times Tuesday to see if they report on the text message from the LA metro driver .I suppose the message would be easy to trace. Todays coverage in the Times listed LA metrolink train accidents the second highest in the nation just below New Jersey Transit and the New Jersey Transit travels 6 times as many miles. This is the latest chapter in the tragic history of frequent Metrolink accidents some also with surface traffic and another crazy head on with freight in 2002 . Maybe it was too expensive to put more of the LA metrolink above or below ground but if the text message by the driver is true they could now invest in cameras on every driver to restore confidence in the drivers. Amtrak commuter trains up and down the coast from where I live have no similar problems to the Metrolink, as far as head ons with freights which are just always outrageous human errors. The drivers path contained four warning lights!
Great – just what we need – another Republican who thinks they are above the law. This is Palin's own Legislature dealing with state business where she is the Governor and is involved in the issue.
Perhaps instead objecting to a TAINTED investigation Governor Palin is objecting to a legitimate investigation of a TAINTED FIRING (an investigation occurring before she was selected – so Obama couldn't have steered it his way – just another misdirection to avoid facing the problem).
Hope people start seeing her for what she is. Do you REALLY want someone who feels they can ignore any legitimate authority for whatever reason they want to make up? Mc Cain must be grinning with glee – another day down without being forced to TALK ABOUT THE ISSUES !!!!
How can anyone take anything John McCain says about the economy seriously? Until recently, his "Economic Guru" was Phil Gramm, whose deregulation bill could be the source of this mess your country is in. Why that is not being gobbled up in the media is beyond me.
I have a question...Do you think the country would be better if a democrat is elected since democrats are the majority in congress so a democrat would have an easier time?
My comment of HP...other electronic companies already have reduced their US employees because they are already outsourcing. There are not fewer jobs, just they are sent to other countries. I know for a fact. More to come since Obama is against businesses getting breaks even though they outsource. Just call for computer support, those people are not in the US! McCain says Country First but he wants more green cards given out and encourages US companies hire green card holders. Fill the positions with US first and stop outsourcing. This is what is hurting the people who used to make 6 figures. Our jobs are lost. Can't work for min. wage cuz those jobs are for the ones who sneak in. Can't win.
As for bailing out those who lend money??? No mercy! They did not show mercy when my son died and we lost our home and still can't or probably never have a home again.
I live in the real world, McCain and Obama better start giving us some real detailed solutions to some real life problems. I don' t care about pigs and lip stick. Wakeup!

I would like to know how the authorites in the City of Galveston, Texas could have left that woman that was on a oxygen machine in her home, which her machine required hydro power to help her to breathe, she should have been evacuated out of the city, but she was not. She was left die a terribe death in her by herself in her home of the negect of the people that was incharge of the evacuation
Plus Gov. Strickland declared a state of emergency for Southwestern Ohio because were hit by fierce winds from Ike. At least 5 people died in Cincinnati and power was out for at least 24 hours for over 700,000 people. Duke energy says it could take a week to be restored.
That's some big news for just having remnants of Ike (and wind not even rain). That packed a big punch! We are very luck tho – as it could have been worse.
The main thing is that we didn't see such an emergency coming. Usually "strong winds" or "remnants" from a hurricane that hit the Gulf Coast do not trees breaking, power outages up to 1 week, and the majority of employers and school districts closed.
