Please keep your people safe. No story is worth risking the lives of your associates. You can always show the damage afterwards, but you can't replace a life after it's gone. Life is too precious to play a game of Russian Roulette. STAY SAFE!!

Gina, I know, that's what I am worried about, I love that place, it'll be a shame if they are broken :(.

Diane, I agree. The pundits are also hypocrites.....attacking the other side when their candidate is doing the same thing.

I'm in College Station and the wind is starting to pick up a bit, but other than that I'm happy to report that things are okay for now.

For all those being affected by the storm, we are all praying for you!

Anderson Cooper and crew – you are in our prayers as well; thank you for all that you do and are doing!

Anderson, you just showed a picture of Dan Rather wearing a white shirt with one of those funny old skinny ties. I have not seen one of them since I was a kid back in the last century. That was cool back then.

The issue isn't wether or not McCain or Palin will overturn Roe v Wade, they personally can't. However their administration will appoint Supreme Court justices who can.

I remember seeing Anderson tied off on a balcony during a hurricane ... not too long ago. I'm sure Gary and Rob are tied off on something. LOL Ali V. sure has been getting some bad assignments during the last two hurricanes. He probably thinks he's a magnet for hurricanes.

Julie-Maine, She'd be a heartbeat away from the Presidency. The President gets to name people for the Supreme Court. They decide if R vs. W stands. Yes, 1 person does have that much power.

OK, you guys saw the chicken too. I thought my eyes were playing tricks on me.

Thanks for coverage but do stay safe. What has happened to the animals at Moody Gardens Aquarium on Galveston? I've been there and the animals are housed in 3 huge glass pyramid buildings. I can't believe those buildings can take a direct hit. What about the animals at the Houston Zoo? All stay safe out there – people and animals.

The government should raise a fund for evacuations so that poor families can afford to escape death, too.

We are in serious trouble this election. We now have 4 politicians saying anything they think we want to hear to get elected!!

As for Ike and all the oil refineries.....Washington should slp some heavy fines to the oil companie for price gouging. Will the record profits they've been racking in they should eat the loss for any disruption from Ike.

  20. Alex Dzeda - Austin, TX

Guys, the only places in Texas affected will be Houston and Galveston mostly, as up here in Austin, not that far to the east, it's calm and no rain at all right now.

    September 12, 2008 at 10:37 pm |
  21. Kathy, Alberta

excellent coverage of IKE, please stay safe.

Palin's positions shift so much I don't think McCain can keep up with her!! She is a disaster and I hope voters realize that. It certainly isn't McCain who is responsible for the rise in his numbers.

  23. Nicole (Canada)

What a bunch of idiots behind Anderson!! Get inside!! I thought there was a curfew? Those people should be arrested and sent to the state prison like they said they were going to go in NOLA.

    September 12, 2008 at 10:36 pm |
  24. Danyel

This lady makes me nauseous! Are we really going to let this person rule our government?

    September 12, 2008 at 10:36 pm |

What the heck is that behind Anderson? Looked like a big chicken.

    September 12, 2008 at 10:36 pm |

Is Ike the biggest hurricane? In case of size?

Is that a guy in a chicken suit?

Yvonne, Palin was only repeating what many Democrats have been saying since Obama announced his VP pick. Even Biden admitted Hillary would have been a better choice. In my opinion, an Obama-Clinton ticket would have been a sure victory.

    September 12, 2008 at 10:35 pm |
  28. Julie-Maine

A politicians personal view does not mean they are going to overturn court rulings, amend the constitution or try to force you to believe what they believe. I too am pro-choice but it is not my place or anyone place to force my views on another person. Sarah said it was her personal view NOT that she was going to force pro life on the country. Does anyone really think that can happen??!! One person in the country does not have THAT much power.

    September 12, 2008 at 10:35 pm |
  29. Teri (Dallas)

    Ana,
Palin has an extreme view on most every topic. That kind of black and white thinking is what has polarized our country.

  30. Patty

Bay Buchanan–never ads any information of value: home runs, hitting out of the park....what??

is this some sort of game to you? you shouldn't be a political commentator, you should be a sportscaster.

After seeing Charlie Gibson's interview of Sarah Palin I am really wishing that Anderson could have conducted her first – I think he could have asked tough relavent questions without being as condescending.

  34. Mike, Syracuse NY

Will, Obama talked bad about Clinton in the primary too, and vice versa. And Yvonne, many Democrats are saying the same thing, that Obama should have picked Clinton. Palin is just pointing out the obvious.

    September 12, 2008 at 10:32 pm |
  35. MaryBeth

Sarah: I totally agree. But she has been made an instant celebrity because she is unknown. She needs to talk about her beliefs and policy positions so Republicans and Independents can make an informed opinion and realize the only choice is to vote Democratic. 😉

    September 12, 2008 at 10:32 pm |
  36. Tracy

    Stay safe, all you Texans.

  38. Ana-Boston

Sarah needs to be more tolerant on abortion's issues. She has a very extreme view on aportion.

    September 12, 2008 at 10:31 pm |
  39. Claire

She can have whatever opionion she wants to have about abortion but when you have power to change a law and you have such a hardcore opionion, it's scary. McCain has said he would like to see R v W overturned. What's next? That is scary

    September 12, 2008 at 10:31 pm |
  40. Tracey, NY

Palin is REALLY killing me......she's slipping....I guess coaching hasn't fair to well...

For sure Anderson has some daredevil genes like the whole team also. Stay safe .
@Heather yes you right ;People need to have a evacuation plan

Everyone on both sides just seems to love Hillary now huh.

    September 12, 2008 at 10:29 pm |
  43. Tom K Frankfort NY

It seems that Sarah Palin's home base always comes back to
what John McCain will do in his administration when she is not
    sure of her position.

  44. Betty Ann, Nacogdoches,TX

The wind is kicking up here~

    September 12, 2008 at 10:28 pm |

The answer Palin just gave about Obama's VP pick just shows how immature she is.

    September 12, 2008 at 10:28 pm |
  46. CAROLYN JONES

do you think we woman are going to let her overturn roe v wade, she let her daughter make a choice and she wants to take it a way me my daughter and granddaughter give me a break.

    September 12, 2008 at 10:28 pm |
  47. Will

She talked bad about Clinton in the Primary

    September 12, 2008 at 10:28 pm |
  48. Jeff in TN

Palin's interview clearly showed she is not ready to lead anything; much less lead our country. I would vote for her if we were talking about the PTA but our country needs leadership right now, not someone who doesn't even know what the Bush doctrine is. I agree that Clinton would have been a better VP pick than Biden but now that the glitter is fading it seems obvious that Obama will be our next Pres.

The "funny" thing is – oil prices shoot up during this most horrible time in the U.S. YET – the biggest exporter of oil to the U.S.A. is Canada. Prairie provinces specifically... and it's real dry up there tonight.

  50. Sarah, Vegas

Mike, Mary Beth... I know it's her personal opinion. But still, I don't think that the government show have anything to do with it. I know that I can't change it either. Just having her in the media, everyday, pointing out the fact that she's pro-life, it's annoying! She needs to get over herself.
