I miss AC360°. It was nice to do the two-hour program last Friday and Monday. Now that Gustav has hit, Hanna isn't here yet, and the GOP is running full steam we have a few nights without 360°. I'd rather work.
If we had a program tonight it'd be all about Gov. Sarah Palin. We've heard a lot about Palin this week, but she has had a low profile in St. Paul. Until tonight. It is her big unveiling, the first time most Americans will here her speak. David Gergen just said on CNN that he expects a very good speech. She'll be we'll prepared, he said.
As delegates officially make John McCain their nominee today, he will land at the Minneapolis-St. Paul Airport around 12:45pm ET.
The Democratic ticket will be in three of the biggest battleground states by day's end. Barack Obama campaigns in more rural parts of eastern Ohio. For a second day, Joe Biden campaigns in Florida.

Anderson Cooper goes beyond the headlines to tell stories from many points of view, so you can make up your own mind about the news. Tune in weeknights at 8 and 10 ET on CNN.

I agree with D Reid- Obama and Biden has the background between them. Palin just have a back ground of secrets. And being a women is not a issue here it is her conduct of being (power hungry) as Governor of a state.
Sarah Palin introduced herself with deception from the start by trying to hide the pregancy of her daughter with a blanket and holding of her baby brother. It did appear odd that the father of the child was not holding him. To later announce that she and her husband are so supportive of their daughter's pregancy and excited to be grandparents, there would have been nothing to hide and thereby giving Americans nothing really to talk about. Will this be the way she continues to govern, by deception until found out? I say that is too big of a risk for America to take.
Since when is an impulsive egomaniac a maverick? And what can we think about the judgement of a woman who has two children with special needs during the next year and chooses to be on the road and unable to nurture them?
Hey Anderson!!!
I just wanted to comment on the V.P. nominee Palin. The Republican Party has hammered Obama about how he is too inexperienced to hold office. Then they go on to choose a V.P. candidate like palin who has much less experience. The arguments that I have heard from certain republicans are that Palin isn't the key player, that she is only the V.P. nominee and not the actual choice for President. Ha!! Funny!! They ever think that something might happen to 72 year old Mccain?? Wouldn't that leave Palin who is less experienced than the candidate they have been relentlessly smashing over "inexperience"? Don't we all know the obvious reason that Mccain chose Palin?
There are significant differences in the educational background McCains choice and the Democratic ticket.
Sarah Palin has a B.S in Communications/Journalism from the University of Idaho,.
Barack Obama graduated from Columbia University and received a law degree from Harvard and was editor of the Harvard Law Review. Joe Biden earned a B. S (double major History and Political Science) from the University of Delaware and a law degree from Syracuse University.
She is not qualified by either experience or education.
The best thing Sarah Palin can do is keep it low-key. The more you learn about her, the more it becomes the "Palin Side-Show." But I'm a Democrat, so I'm actually hoping she walks out with her rifle screaming "Freedom to Alaska!"
I disagree with all the talk about Sarah Palin’s credentials and baggage. She is qualified enough to be the Republican VP choice and just like so many other good Republicans before her, her private life is irrelevant. Republican Senator Mark Foley, despite being a pedophile and self-admitted alcoholic, still advocated many bills to protect out nation’s children. The present Republican VP, Dick Cheney, didn’t let the fact that he has a lesbian daughter get in the way of him keeping America safe from the left wing assault against marriage, as too with Republican Senator Larry Craig, who didn’t let his personal life stand in the way of his duty to oppose the gays and protect our nation’s morals and family values any way that he could. Even in Palin’s own state of Alaska, Republican Senator Ted Stevens’ personal graft didn’t prevent him from doing his job obtaining millions in earmarks on behalf of his constituents. Like all these good Republicans, and George Bush himself, Palin can be counted on to set aside personal issues, to focus inflexibly on the correct Republican talking points and what’s right for the country, regardless of whatever the facts in their own lives say. She and John McCain are the unquestioning, good soldiers we Republicans need!
(((hugs Ted Fine))), we miss AC360 too.
I watched the RNC last night and it was very, ummm, Vanilla, sugar free Vanilla yogurt-ish.
At least Anderson was back last night.
I hope Mr. Gergen is spot on, the RNC needs some spice to say the least.
I am not sure what the Republicans are trying to do
with their convention. It is boring and downright annoyiing
to watch on television. According to Mediaweek the early
numbers do not look to good on ABC, CBS and NBC. The
cable news numbers should be interesting. But at this point
I would guess it is fair to say America is not tuning in but
tuning out.
