National Guard turned around by Gustav

Sara Weisfeldt
CNN Producer

On the road in Carville, LA; We were heading to the Emergency Operation Center with national guard to hook up with search and rescue teams. We were directed to turn around because their higher ups didn't think it was safe.

If anyone hears how Abbeville is making out, please let us know. Most of the family I had there is long gone, but for many years it was a center of my life as a child. The Vermillion Bayou flowed right behind my grandfather's house. Abbeville is south of Lafeyette and probably getting hit right about now.

From the way that these pics look that accompany your story I think it is a good thing that you all were turned around!
