Erica’s News Note: VP schmeep

Erica Hill
AC360° Correspondent

This waiting game puts the CrackBerry addiction in an entirely new category. The most minor buzz from our BBs (sign of a new message) sends us all reeling; it’s getting to be a bit much. In fact, it’s a bit cruel. Just tell us already!

Also in the “getting to be a bit much category”: the growing list of non-terrorists on the terror watch list. From toddlers to retired attorney general to Drew Griffin to a veteran who could lose his job as a pilot because he’s on the list, when you hear the stories it makes you wonder how the list could work, when it seems to have so many members who don’t fit the bill.

How great would it be to recharge your BlackBerry/cell phone/laptop without plugging it in? Talk about making life easier on the road! Your phone is wireless, your internet connection, so why not your electricity?

This is a system I’d like to get in on. A Wisconsin couple won $1.4 million dollars using the same numbers on four separate lottery tickets. They bought each one in a different town, but all were for the same drawing. Clearly it paid off – or out, as the case may be. After taxes, they’re looking at $955,000. Not bad. How’d they do it? Not the luck o’ the Irish. Think fancy math and patents. For some reason I feel like the Lottery Commission may not be a huge fan…

Dear Censor Clinton fans are cutting off their own noses. Obama may not be your first choice but he sounds like he'll be a good president. First he's a Democrat. More important he thinks. The audiences reaction to the religious thing was wacked out. I often wonder if they hear the same things I do. (cj)

I am a Hillary Clinton supporter but I will not vote for obama and biden because I don’t want the same old politics to change there is no unity for us I don’t like the war in Iraq but we are there and we need protect the innocent from Iran we need a plan mccain has a real one I just wish the candidates would talk more on the economy and immigration I believe the only fair tax is the one where everyone pays the same% and illegal immigrants are give a chance for a clean slat and a green card if they start paying taxes and local and state governments to not get federal funding while they break the law and harbor illegal activities
I know its just one voice but I want it to be loud

    Hi Erica,
I am glad that Nobama thought really hard for his VP and chose Biden as his barking dog. For those people who still feel sorry that Hillary was not selected, please let it rest. Nobama knows that by selecting Hillary for VP and Hillary having 18 million followers, there is room for a crazy sick person among them to harm him and push Hillary forward as the next President. Also, if we look carefully how Nobama introduced Biden as "The president," was not a coincidence but as more of a statement that if something will happen to him, they are seeing the next president "Biden" and not "Hillary".

Congratulations to the couple who won the lottery. That would be amazing if they really do have a system. If they do..............do it again!

    Hey Erika:

Couldn't help feel sympathy for Bill Schneider and Wolf Blitzer this morning....puffy bloodshot eyes exposed the real story of their sleepless night. The Obama campaign could have been a little kinder to all those waiting anxiously for the breaking news of the VP pic. Give me a break....3am? What were they thinking?

I am positively giddy about the Obama/Biden ticket. Excellent team. This is one TX Democrat that can't wait until November to get George Bush and his hangers-on out of office. Then we can start to get this country back on track and regain our respect around the world. After the last eight years, I can't imagine a scenario where I could vote for a Republican.

I dont care to Text and knew that CNN would figure out the VP choice before they officially released the name. Whats so important about getting the name a few minutes or hours sooner anyways. I prefer McCAins ways much without all the damn technology. I am a computer usuer and have a cell phone. Have the damn thing off more than on.

    "Nom, nom nom..."

(That's the sound my husband says I make when I'm waking up.)

It's 7 a.m., Saturday morning. Hope all of your newsguys and gals got as good of a sleep as I did 🙂

OK, that little joke probably didn't go over well...

Ladies and gentlemen, we have a new VP candidate.

Ladies: for the romantics among you, check out Biden's book "Promises to Keep", the chapter titled "Jill", specifically pages 113-116.

This is a guy who was willing to give up his political career for the woman he loved.

    Sigh.

    Hi Erica

    About the Republicans

Mitt Romney doesn't want to be the VP anymore than he wanted to be governor of Massachusetts.

Politics in America have lost their moral compass and I can't believe how Americans are buying into all this Obama hype.
This carry on about the VP selection looks almost like a childish prank and somebody should tell Obama to grow up.

Obama is the best speaker among all those that I have heard as candidates for president, but he needs Hilary to complement his inadequacies in many areas among all those who have indicated that they, too, want to be president during the primary. Besides, their votes difference is very minute or negligible. Had not been because of the favoritism by the media, that difference may have been the reverse!

Hilary will be the vp if Obama wants to be the next president. He will lose if he selects anyone else, and this will make McCain as the next president, another republican! Watch this prediction!

If Biden is selected as VP, who runs as a democrat in DE for his seat in the senate.
His son, Beau is Attorney General of DE and was considered a likely successor is headed to Iraq with his National Guard unit in October.
    Any analysis?

Obama blew it when he arrogantly strung the nation along the Text Message Turnpike all week.

I'm heading to the rest stop.

That couple with their system on how to pick the numbers might be able to earn more with it than they won from the lottery. I have zero chance of winning primarily because the state I live in doesn't have a lottery so to get tickets I have to go out of state. With gas as high as it is I don't consider it worth the gas to go buy a ticket I'm not going to win with anyway. So glad they won.

The text message announcement is kind of cruel – I'm sure you all jump every time there is a message. I bet Obama waits until Saturday to announce – he's having too much fun stringing us along.

How about Ret. General Wesley Clark. Experienced. Independant. Capable of challenging anyone's thinking process. He's a grey haired white guy without the baggage of being a grey haired white guy. Works for me.

I have this strange feeling that Obama is going to announce Al Gore as his VP running mate. You can just tell by the smile on Obama's face.

Erica, I'm with you on the Blackberry addiction; I can see all the clinical psychologists lining up with dollar signs in their eyes to assist the addicted; at least the addiction isn't bad on the lungs or liver.

I think the reason we haven't yet heard who will be Obama's VP is because Obama had to console Michelle for quite some time after she learned she was no longer in the running.

    Hi Erica

Yeah, using your own nubers can be better . If you have family birthdays numbers combined with other of your lucky nubers you can better than those quick picks from the store, It's probobly fixed in alot of thoses smaller convience stores but it's gambling and it's a luck of the draw i guess .

Thanks Erica for your post tonight
    have a great weekend

The media's stalking of potential VPs is tawdry, invasive and disgusting. There is nothing about the VP decision that requires the populace to be informed the second it happens. I'm sorry you don't have better things to discuss than all the guessing about this issue. You are abusing your privilege and confirming the worst about your profession, perhaps the world's second oldest.

    Hello Erica,

Your right! You know it would have been nice to know when we were going to be getting said text message. I guess you saw on The Sit Room that a Obama staffer said that their computer has it set up to text over a three to four hour period so it wouldnt happen till like 2 or 3 am west coast to 5 or 6 am east coast Sat just before the presser! I'm with you, plus I have a blackberry pearl and my hand hurts. Of course that person could be lying and it could be breaking news while you are on the news tonight. I agree it is cruel! Of course think about all your fellow CNN camera people just waiting all day for nothing.Everytime I heard a buzz today I ran over only to discover it was my husband. This is over kill. Enough already indeed.

I thought I had it bad when I did go to the airport.I have a implanted device so I have to show a my ID card and wait for a female TSA officer to pat me down. That once took 45 mins. The airport had one female TSA officer and I had to wait 45 mins! Thats nothing compared to being on the Terrorist Watch list .
Oh my husband says Drudge says its BAYH! But he can be wrong.

Thanks for continuing to move us away from the VP discussion...I am sick of Carville's comments about poor Hilary and how she should be consulted about the VP. Get over it Carville. Your candidate did not win. Second is just first loser!

    Hi Erica!
I know, I know, every time my phone goes off I think we have a new VP.
    I keep expecting to see Omama/Hillary '08 or Obama/Biden '08.
What is this all about anyway?
What if the Hokey-Pokey really IS what it's all about? Did you ever think about that? I'll bet not~ 😉
Hmm, you just never know anymore!
Have a great Friday and week-end!
    Cheers!
