Brangelina baby pix: capitalism at work!

Paying $14 million for baby photos. That’s newsworthy. Telling the story on television without showing those photos. That’s tricky.  My challenge was to report on the first public images of the Brangelina twins, but I could not show the pictures - I had to show the magazine cover, and I couldn't find one!

Fortunately there's lots to talk about here: celebrities selling photos of their newborns to further their own fame and/or make make lots of money. Brad Pitt and Angelina Jolie are giving the money to charity. But they're not the only stars showing off their babies for cash, and many keep the proceeds.

Even veteran paparazzo Darryn Lyons isn't completely comfortable with this celebrity trend. He says Hollywood stars are "manipulating" their own children. But then he also wishes his own picture agency played a part in the Brangelina deal. His prediction is $14 million won't remain the record price for very long.

You know the market for this stuff is strong when even the siblings of celebrities can cash in. Britney's little sister Jamie Lynn Spears reportedly made a million dollars by posing with her daughter Maddie. My cameraman told me he thinks that makes the Brangelina deal sound almost reasonable.

Simply put, why isn't some of the money put into an account for the childrens' use when they reach adulthood!! They are a part of the act n'est pas!!

14 million is a lot of money, but its a win win situation for everyone. The magazines and media get their shot of the newborns, and then Brad and Angelina get 14 million dollars and will hopefully donate it.Its good for everyone.

I have a lot of respect for Angelina and Brad. Leave them alone, they have the desire and the love and the strength to have and raise these babies. Thank goodness, and praise to them. They know how much fun it is to have such wonderful children. Carolyn Neuman

This is insanity, pure self endulgence, pure glutony, sell the pictures to the highest bidder? donate the money to charity? outrageous lie, what makes these two attention starved , over paid individuals so worthy of attention , lets be real.

I like Brad and Angelina (I refuse to call them Bran...you know the rest!) Leave them alone, if they want to get a bunch of money which they donate to charity for their baby pictures so be it! Cheers to them all!

I have to say – I really like Brad & Angie. If I had all that money I'd have all those kids too. They are so lucky.

I see absolutely nothing wrong with the parents having someone photograph the babies in a safe quiet environment instead of having to worry about the nutty paparazzi who could easily endanger the babies with their out of control behavior. The pictures are going to get taken one way or the other and this way the parents can control the circumstances and the exorbitant money goes to them to donate to charity – its great they are donating it to charity but even if they kept the money and put it in a college fund for the babies I see absolutely nothing wrong with it.

I guess if you can't beat em join em. If they can't prevent the obvious photo frenzy from happening ,they might as well make them pay big bucks for the photos.

I think selling their pictures to raise money to donate to charity is a great method.

    The end justifies the means.

I don't understand why people are against them selling the baby pictures. If there wasn't a demand in the first place, they wouldn't get a dime.

Uneducated, attention seeking, children of Hollywood selling out their newborns for cold hard cash should be punishable with the loss of the child and a fine equal to the cash received.

For Jolie to use charity as a ruse for her attention seeking, publicity requiring, demented life, is downright hilarious.

The only thing more pathetic, is lap-dog Brad Pitt not putting his foot down and preventing his children from getting pimped out time after time.

Someone tell Angelina that Mandela, Gandhi and Mother Teresa changed the world without using the womb or demanding cash.

And Brad Pitt had the nerve to say not long ago about how he is worried how the throng of paparazzi constantly hounding his family for their photo will affect their kids. There are other ways to make money for charity. Sadly for the children, the Jolie-Pitts seem to have realized that pimping photos of their kids is the quickest and easiest way.

Why should Brad and Angelina or any other celeb, as far as that goes, let the paparazzi hound them to death to get the first pics of their babies and then make millions off of it? It makes more sense to me to keep the babies out of the public eye, sell the pics and donate the money to charity. Then that way they don't go crazy trying to get the first pics.

Like it or not the public wants to see these babies. If no one would buy the magazines or what not then the celebs wouldn't have to do this to keep the paparazzi sane. So who ever buys these rags are partly to blame! If there was no interest in seeing it then they wouldn't have to resort to this type of stuff. Maybe they are just trying to keep their kids safe from the horde of photogs that go crazy and will do anything trying to get pics.
