    Energy crisis and offshore drilling.
Ignoring the pro's/con's of the environmental/ecological (oil spills etc) and global warming implications, and the timescale republican, possible in 3/6months, democrats years. I have a question for Mr.and Mrs average voter:-
What makes you believe that doing this will significantly change the current price at the gas pump and that the internationally determined price per barrel ?(Given the lack of global refining (and very old inadequate US) capacity) This will allow US oil companies to demand $4, $6, or $8 or whatever the market price of a barrel is when it comes on line... they will have a shorter horizon against which to recover thier investment!!
Home Land Security. Al Qaeda Threat.
First get real. How many real Islamic muslim extremists do Al Qaeda represent as a % of global poulation. Does it justify the global and regional wars in Iraq and afghanistan, and more importantly the global social, religious unrest and financial and economic costs not only in the US but globally ? = The money would be better spent on defeating the underlying causes not the effect, including 9/11?
Second, your borders leak like a sieve, both North and South (Mexico and Canada), and any drug runner would be happy to transport terrorists for a fee to Us soil and another 9/11 could emerge. A few well placed Lost sam missiles or Rpgs on the electricity grid!?
Interesting counter views or not? certaily dramatic enough to grab the attention of viewers.
And Hi anderson glad, really glad seriously , I mean it, ( perhaps a little facetiously) you spent some time with the great white sharks of the world. Problem is there are even bigger ones on your door step.
ooops broke your rules and this will no pass the moderation. Schucks!!
    Regards,
    Hodgson.

Michelle, you're close enough to the border to be an expert on immigration yourself 🙂 Did you feel the quake? (I think I'm going to build the second brick wall in the state so the camera guys can hang out at my house during the next earthquake... )

"Homeward Bound". Wasn't that the name of a lost cat and dog movie? Surely they jest.

As for the decline in the illegal population, one need only troll the nearest Home Depot parking lot to ask if the study-makers ever get out in the field... I am a "compassionate conservative" when it comes to the illegal immigrant issue. I'm out there with a sack of hamburgers feeding these people because they're hard workers who go hungry on the days where they can't pick up an odd job or two, but I do realize that their presence is driving down the overall wage in the area.

I wonder if the study makers saw the recent L.A. Times article that showed that the decline in the US economy was actually causing reverse immigration – LEGAL residents of the US are moving to Mexico to find work...

I am intrigued about what may be reported on the immigration issue. It is an ongoing issue, that continues to haunt the american dream mythology of the "wonderful country" we live in.

Think of the speed you could move an intercontienental missle comand center complete with defense air support, and it takes up and over-commands the entire interstate... when on modern material rails.

I bet there's been a decline in illegals with the way the economy has been. There's less than half the amount of these day laborers when I drive past them every morning for work.

Can anyone built a magmatic punch drill head cutter, which, when coupled with an extreme high velocity water cutter head w/chisel action which would be used to cut rock with. Drills for grip.
