Jolene, he couldn't have known it would be misinterpreted.

Well, he could have, but being himself, didn't. He should have a chance to expand now.

omg a girl got pregnant because she got lonely....maybe we should be teaching self respect and self worth.

  4. CaseyJPS - California

I love it. The young girl was on birth control! Take that, Tony Perkins.

    June 24, 2008 at 10:54 pm |
  5. Maureen T

That young lady should get an education and eventually get a good job! Having babies should be down the line, way down the line!!

Good night Anderson and all bloggers. Was really a great show tonight. A good mix of stories.

I didn't believe that girl. She paused before she said there was no pact...

    June 24, 2008 at 10:54 pm |
  8. Julliet

The preg. girls said there is no pact but decided after they got preg. to raise their children together? That # of preg. girls in one school is a heck of a lot.

  9. Caroline, Los Angeles

Is it scary that this girl seems to think being pregnant at 17 is no big deal? Maybe I'm just old....

    June 24, 2008 at 10:54 pm |
  10. Cindy

Seems like these girls were told to change their story.

  11. Nev

AC why is 100% of the conversation all about the 17 girls and their pact? What about the boys? Where they in or where they tricked into getting these girls pregnant? Just sayin... Cause THAT might be the real story!

    June 24, 2008 at 10:53 pm |
  12. Sam

Why is there no discussion of the young men who got these 15 year olds pregnant? Something is wrong with the town when they only talk about the pact, but not about fact of the pregnancies themselves.

I don't believe Imus' story. But I also don't care. His job is to be shocking. He bashes everyone. That's what shock jocks do. Why is everyone shocked when a leopard shows his spots? If a black comedian had said it, it would have been OK.

    June 24, 2008 at 10:52 pm |
  14. Mary H. St. Louis, MO

Ok, I heard on the local news that the officials were stating there was no pregnacy pact .... this should be a good interview..

    June 24, 2008 at 10:52 pm |
  15. Gary

Why don't you just get Imus to come on the show and explain his point of view. Then people could make up their mind. Instead we listen to a bunch of people speculate about it?

    June 24, 2008 at 10:51 pm |
  16. Jolene

I'm on the edge of my seat for the pregnancy pact segment. Should be interesing hearing from one of the teen girls.

    Dick Gregory was great 🙂

  18. Susan - North Haven, CT

Roland... Every person's own mindset determines how they perceive what someone else says about African Americans – especially sarcastic remarks. Imus cannot be held responsible for the way others take what he says. That's THEIR issue – not his.

    lots of good discussion tonite

Dick Gregory! He always has something interesting to say–& tonight is no exception.

  22. Ana-Boston

    I don't buy Don's explanations at all.

    June 24, 2008 at 10:49 pm |
  23. Teresa, OH

I believe Imus meant it, and I'm ok with that. He spoke his truth.

    June 24, 2008 at 10:49 pm |
  24. Megan Dresslar

Thanks for coming in Dick Gregory,
    I agree with his comment.

    June 24, 2008 at 10:49 pm |
  25. Marguerite

Who cares about what Don Imus says? He should have cleared up his thoughts yesterday. I hope he did mean what he said, but once again...who cares about what Don Imus says?

    June 24, 2008 at 10:49 pm |
  26. Patrick

Yes, Imus loves to push boundaries. Yes, he should know better than to insert his foot AGAIN in his mouth. Remember, when we stop letting people express their views, right, wrong, or indifferent, we stop being America.

    June 24, 2008 at 10:48 pm |
  27. kim-chicago

Seriously...who cares about what Don Imus says...

    June 24, 2008 at 10:48 pm |
  28. Julliet

We should all just leave Imus alone and he will go away.

I love Rolands straight talk! Pac Man Jones is a nut for real!

" I read $1,000 worth of newspapers every 12 days" ... best quote of the night, definitely have Dick Gregory on again.

    June 24, 2008 at 10:48 pm |
  31. MaryBeth

I agree. If he meant that blacks are profiled more for arrests and criminal activity, he should have clarified that right then and there.

Love Roland! "walk while black, drive while black" LOL

    June 24, 2008 at 10:48 pm |
  32. Steve

I think that you have to take him at his word unless there is evidence that he is being dishonest.

    June 24, 2008 at 10:48 pm |
  33. Jolene

Roland is right. Imus should have expanded on his point when he made it yesterday, not a day later.

    June 24, 2008 at 10:48 pm |
  34. Maureen T

My goodness I have not seen Dick Gregory forever! It's great that you have him on the show! 🙂

    June 24, 2008 at 10:47 pm |
  35. Angela

Thanks for having Dick Gregory on tonight! It's always good to hear his perspective.

Dick Gregory! This is such a treat.

  37. Peb, Valley Village, California

The diversity of his staff excuse? That's not the first time that I've hear that type of excuse. That's like the excuse "some of my best friends are .........."

    June 24, 2008 at 10:46 pm |
  38. Jo Ann, North Royalton, Ohio

Mike, Syracuse, NY; I have heard Howard Stern say worse things than anything Imus has ever said, but he isn't as easy a target as Imus is and he would fight back.

    June 24, 2008 at 10:46 pm |
  39. Casey, Tennessee

you think with Imus' history, he'd be very careful with his words. if this his way of defending the guy he should of been a lot more clear with his choice of words.

    June 24, 2008 at 10:45 pm |
  40. MaryEllen Texas

If Imus was truly trying to make a sarcastic point and to highlight that african americans are unfairly treated by the police - is a crock. If that was Imus' position – he'd have used the moment to "shock" the police on his view & clearly make that position statement. Not wait 'til "after the fact".

    June 24, 2008 at 10:45 pm |
  41. Jana, Indiana

Jo Ann, I know I couldn't do it. We had some flooding here in Indiana, but nothing like those poor people in Iowa and Illinois. I have one friend that had flood insurance here in Indiana and she is having to fight to get what she has paid for.

I wish ppl would just acknowlage that it is ok to be religious but a person just need to respect the ppl who disagree with them. Thats a new idea isn't it?

    June 24, 2008 at 10:44 pm |
  43. CaseyJPS - California

Apparently, Anderson is VERY happy tonight. Glad to see you back, Erica! You were missed!!

  44. deborah, OH

Ok, Erica, guac for the chips!

    June 24, 2008 at 10:43 pm |
  45. Jo Ann, North Royalton, Ohio

No one can say for sure what Imus really meant. After all that the media and the black organizations put him through before does anyone really believe that he would make another negative racial comment?

    June 24, 2008 at 10:43 pm |
  46. Stacy

    Ooh, gummy bears!

By the time the show is over all the bloggers are going to be raiding their kitchens for three-dimensional food.

    June 24, 2008 at 10:43 pm |
  47. Vicki

Can't wait to find out what happened to the girls in Gloucester - should be a short segment ... they had sex - without a condom!

    June 24, 2008 at 10:43 pm |
  48. Mike, Syracuse, NY

The thing about Imus, Howard Stern and the other shock jocks is that if you don't like them, don't listen.

    June 24, 2008 at 10:43 pm |
  49. Dee F.

I think Roland said it all last night and on his blog describing 'Pac man' Jones!!!

Enough with Imus, he is who he is, he will never change.

    June 24, 2008 at 10:42 pm |

how 'bout some guac for those chips, ac?
