Jo Ann, that's why Obama's positions keep changing faster than you can follow them. say anything to win.

I think that Obama has most of her supporters as he is now leading in the double digits.

If helping pay the debt is common, than wouldn't Obama just look bad if he didn't? He didn't have a choice here

  4. Cindy

I think Obama is weak on more than just national security.

He is not using the money given from his personal internet donors.

    Shannon,
I agree, you are right, I don't either understand why he is doing right thing to help her.

    Hello Anderson and fellow bloggers.

Jo Ann, I agree, I think Obama just wants Hillary and Hillary's supporters, so he is going to pay off her debt.

Good evening Anderson, Erica and fellow bloggers

Mike, Syracuse, NY, It is all about doing anything to win.

Mike there is no guarantee that her diehard supporters will support him. I think it is a goodwill gesture. There are some who will vote against their own best interest because they are upset.

  11. Jolene

At this point does it really matter if Bill Clinton endorses Obama? HIllary brings him the women vote but I don't think Bill offers anything except perhaps his popularity and influence.

I don't believe that John McCain or the Republicans would keep us more safe on the war in terror. I think they are the reason that it has escalated!

    June 24, 2008 at 10:09 pm |
  13. Julliet

Yap, Obama is really nice to help pay the debt, I agree Laylay.

I am an Obama supporter but I WILL ABSOLUTELY NOT! NOT give money to bail Hillary out of her debt. She used her money to run a dirty campaign against him. Now Obama is talking loco, but I still support him.

  15. Hannah Storm

it is very nice that Obama is asking people to help Clinton with her debt. If the roles were reverse, I don't know if the graciousness would be flowing like this

    June 24, 2008 at 10:08 pm |
  16. MaryBeth

The right thing to do? Why? He didn't force her to go into debt, she did that by herself. Obviously she wasn't as good at fundraising as he was...why is that Obama's problem?

    June 24, 2008 at 10:08 pm |
  17. Gary

Obama taking and using someone's money to pay Hillary's debt. Sounds familiar.

    June 24, 2008 at 10:08 pm |
  18. Mike, Syracuse, NY

EJ, Obama being a 'nice guy' has nothing to do with it. He needs her supporters, so needs her good will.

    June 24, 2008 at 10:08 pm |
  19. Jo Ann, North Royalton, Ohio

EJ (USA), I think it has more to do with him wanting her support and needing the votes of her supporters. I don't think it has anything to do with being "nice."

    Erica,
    You're so welcome! 🙂

  21. Shannon

I don't like him paying it off, but I guess if it move the election so be it. I think it is extremely weird. I don't understand why it is the right thing to do.

    June 24, 2008 at 10:07 pm |
  22. Julliet

Bill will come around when the time is right. He might be working a deal with the Obama campaign with his delayed endorsement.

    June 24, 2008 at 10:07 pm |
  23. Cynthia

I think it is nice of Senator Obama to help with her debt. Otherwise she would have to eat a good portion of it.

    June 24, 2008 at 10:07 pm |
  24. Laylah

Hey bloggers! Hillary has a mountain of debt, how can you just owe yourself 12M, sheesh! Senator Obama is really nice to ask people to help her to pay off her debt

    June 24, 2008 at 10:06 pm |
  25. Cindy

I'm not surprised that Bill had a spokesman say he was backing Obama. I think there is a lot of bad feelings there!

Helping pay off Hillary's debt is a sign of unity, isn't it?

    June 24, 2008 at 10:05 pm |
  30. Cindy

Hey..if Obama wants to pay off Hillary's debt more power to him!

    Cindy...Ga.

    June 24, 2008 at 10:04 pm |
  31. Jolene

Hello bloggers! Paying off some of Hillary's debt is the least Obama could do since he is depending on her for his "Unity" tour.

    June 24, 2008 at 10:04 pm |
  32. EJ (USA)

Well that's because Barack is a nice guy.

    June 24, 2008 at 10:03 pm |
  33. MaryBeth

Maybe Bill can pay off her debt? He rakes in millions from public speaking engagements.

    June 24, 2008 at 10:03 pm |
  34. Julliet

Hillary is a very smart politician, so is her husband and I like them both

It must have been a tense day on Capital Hill.

    June 24, 2008 at 10:03 pm |
  36. MaryBeth

I think she's trying to get anyone to pay off her debt.

    June 24, 2008 at 10:03 pm |
  37. Jo Ann, North Royalton, Ohio

I don't like the idea of Obama paying off Hillary Clinton's debt. I don't care how usual this might be, It sounds like he is buying her support.

    June 24, 2008 at 10:02 pm |
  38. Shannon

I do not see why Obama would pay anything for Hillary. He did not ask her to stay in the contest when she was already in debt.
