Anxiety and nervousness in Grafton, Illinois. Most of downtown is under as much as ten feet of water. And Jim and Linda Tolley are worried.
Floodwaters have surrounded the Tolley's home and the grocery store they own. The store was submerged by six feet of water in the 1993 floods.
There is one escape route, so they are staying in their home for now, but ready to leave at a moment's notice.
Their store is closed and they have boxed up their inventory.
Financially, just closing the store is difficult for them. If it gets flooded, it can ruin them.

My heart goes out to all these people. Hopefully they will receive all the help that the rest of the country has been trying to give them so they can rebuild as soon as possible.
I hope all the people affected by the flood have an easier time rebuilding their lives than the people impacted by Katrina. Hopefully, the water will go down soon.

Its so sad to see all this flooding and think about al the people who are being financially wiped out by it. We need to rethink where we can build and not develop land that is prone to floods or tidal surges during hurricanes. We court disaster for another family every time we do build in those places. I hope these people don't get flooded and that you stay safe as you bring us this story. Try to stay out of the
water – Jon Stewart is referring to reporters standing in the water as human dipsticks!

My heart goes out to them. Now and for what is ahead.
I lived through the johnstown flood in pa.
It devastated the region. the steel mills closed, many business did not build back up. The town still is struggling.
Gary,
It is so sad that these people are losing everything that they have in all of this flooding. I hope that they can at least salvage some of their goods to help them in the future. Maybe the flooding won't get any worse for them.
Stay safe out there! I hope that you are staying out of that water!
