I have served two tours in Iraq, making the last tour my fourth overseas tour. I have a little more than five years to retire and at this point of my career I am tired! The support from the soldiers chain of command seems to get less and less every year. Despite all the programs the Army tries to emplament, there is nothing like a chain of command that soldiers believe care. Until that changes and the Army can increase and maintain a sufficient number of soldiers to serve, things will get worse before they get better. As a Senior NCO, I recommend to all my young soldiers to become officers ASAP. Enlisted soldiers are grossly underpaid and the GI Bill is a joke.
Until our leaders show us their support, by providing service members with proper benefits. The military will continue to have retention issues.
What a wonderful thing you are doing for the troops -sometimes its the simplest things that are missed the most. Thank you for your efforts.
