LAX shooting survivor: "Not to sound too dramatic, I didn't want to die"

California high school teacher Brian Ludmer is lucky to be alive. He was shot at Los Angeles International Airport when a gunman opened fire. The bullet shattered two leg bones. Speaking from his hospital bed, Brian described how he crawled into a closet and saved his own life with a makeshift tourniquet.

LAX shooting survivor's story

L.A. area high school teacher Brian Ludmer was standing near a pair of TSA agents, when he was shot in the leg at Los Angeles International Airport. Lubmer is also a former boy scout, and the fact that he knew how to tie a tourniquet may have saved his life. His boss, local school superintendent Dan Stepenosky spoke to Anderson.

LAX shooting witness mistaken for the suspect

When the shooting started, Terminal 3 was packed with travelers lining up for flights. In the rush to escape the gunman, Nick Pugh ran out to the tarmac and briefly ended up in handcuffs, mistaken for the killer. Pugh spoke to Anderson and recounted the frightening shooting spree.

Fmr. Homeland Security Secretary Tom Ridge says arming TSA officers is a bad idea

TSA officers are not armed, even though they are on the front lines of airport security. Today's shooting at LAX is the first time a TSA officer has been killed in the line of duty. It shows just how vulnerable they are while on the job. Airports have long been known to be soft targets. Anderson spoke with Tom Ridge who served as the nation's first Secretary of Homeland Security.

Anderson discussed the response to today's shooting with Tom Blank, a former TSA deputy administrator and HLN law enforcement analyst Mike Brooks.

Face-to-face with the LAX gunman

As the people around him were running for their lives, Leon Saryan came face-to-face with the gunman. Saryan says he asked him whether he worked for the TSA. Saryan told Anderson, "If I had a TSA uniform on, I would not be here talking to you."

“Mythbusters” stars at Terminal 3 during shooting: "It didn't register it was gunshots until people were running towards us"

That's how “Mythbusters” star Tory Belleci described the moment he realized he was in danger at LAX today. He was inside Terminal 3, so was his co-star Grant Imahara. They were both in different areas of the terminal, and told Anderson what they experienced.

Inside the LAX shooting

Police say LAX shooting suspect Paul Ciancia walked into Terminal 3, pulled out an assault rifle and opened fire. When it was over, one TSA officer was killed, and several people  were wounded. Anderson takes a look at what happened.
