At what point do we recognize that people that demonstrate this behavior are violent criminals and should be dealt with swiftly and in the harshest terms The crime of physical assault is STILL A CRIME if the recipient of the violence is a loved one (it is just more tragic). These situations are made all the more horrific by the cultural sickness that repeatedly fails to recognize this behavior for the base, animalistic violence that it is, instead choosing to callously watch as the latest manifestation is endlessly debated amongst purportedly knowledgeable pundits on the various TV "news" programs. These people need to be behind bars, away from the public, as they pose a clear and present danger to public safety... like it or not, their loved ones are part of that population that is afforded protection from harm under the law. PERIOD. Instead, insidious emotional manipulation of the people closest to it and the abject failure of people in positions of responsibility who fail to step in swiftly and decisively and without hesitation, allows this behavior to go unchecked.. again and again. If this idiot had knocked anyone else out in an elevator and unceremoniously dragged their unconscious body out of the elevator, we would expect that he be summarily convicted of assault and would serve time for it. That is the expected outcome here. It is a matter for the justice system, and the district attorney should be brining charges on that basis, regardless of what the wife says or wants. IT IS OUT OF HER HANDS, WHETHER SHE LIKES OUR NOT. This is of course made all the more heinous by the economic motivations of individuals who should take action in instances like this but don't. REALLY UNBELEIVABLE.
