Malaysia Airlines Flight 370's 50-year-old Captain Zaharie Ahmad Shah has 18,365 flight hours under his belt. He is also reportedly a flight instructor. A friend of Shah, Peter Chong, spoke to Anderson. "He is very friendly, caring, and very professional guy who's committed to his job and who loves flying," said Chong about his friend, Captain Shah. He also said the captain told him about recreating flying scenarios on a home flight simulator. According to Chong, Shah seemed like his usual self a week before the flight's disappearance. "He is a very professional pilot who loves his job, who loves flying, and I wouldn't think that he would be in any way involved in it," said Chong.
Anderson Cooper goes beyond the headlines to tell stories from many points of view, so you can make up your own mind about the news. Tune in weeknights at 8 and 10 ET on CNN.
