Marilou Allen-Coogan tells Anderson Cooper about her experience as a juror in the infamous Jodi Arias trial. The jury could not agree on Arias' punishment for murdering her ex-boyfriend Travis Alexander, resulting in a mistrial in the penalty phase of the trial last week. A source with knowledge of the deliberations said there was an 8-4 split in favor of sentencing Arias to death. Allen-Coogan is one of the jurors who voted for the death penalty; she explains why in her interview on AC360.
I believe she deserves death. However, by sentencing her to life, in the long run, the tax payers will save money. With death, there is an automatic appeal (and guess who is footing the bill).
AS YOUNG AS SHE IS, IT WILL COST MORE TO HOUSE HER FOR LIFE; She may have more time to think about what she didd if she is locked up; I just hope the media ignores her; That is what she wants and thrives on is the attention.
If they have capitol punishment where ever she killed ..then take her..although i don;t agree with capitol punishment in some cases , this girl took a life and thought she could keep living hers..its the worst crime one can committ..maybe the boyfriend did mean things to her..regardless...learn to walk away before she did something she would regret ..she didn't do that so end hers as well..nuff said
That's a good point of view, but let's not forget that as tax payers you and me, and maybe even our children will pay for her food, electric bill and any medical bills she will have throughout the remainding of her life. She might be in a small cell, but she will get to make friends, read a book, watch TV, and maybe get to see her family. The dead guy won't, good or bad, however he was.
Even if she would have gotten the death penalty, she would have still been waiting for it for years... Still a big waste of our tax dollars.
Anderson Cooper goes beyond the headlines to tell stories from many points of view, so you can make up your own mind about the news. Tune in weeknights at 8 and 10 ET on CNN.
