Toby Keith: Hometown storm 'devastating'

Country singer Toby Keith talks to Anderson Cooper about the massive tornado that hit the town where he grew up on Monday. Earlier in the evening he tweeted a message of support for the Moore, Oklahoma community:

"I grew up in those neighborhoods that got hit today ... it's just devastating," he said on AC360. Keith believes the destruction would be worse if it weren't for the work of the state meteorologists and media preparing residents when they knew the storm was coming.

Dozens of people did not survive, and the death toll is expected to rise. Of the known fatalities, officials report nine are children. Some of the kids who died were in Plaza Towers Elementary School in Moore. Rescue crews are desperately trying to find students and staff buried in wreckage.

I'm really sorry about what happened in Oklahoma...May God bless all the victims. These are the times I ask myself, AGAIN, if here in Puerto Rico, a "poorer" place than the USA, we build cement houses, why can't they do the same? If that school and all of those houses would've been built in cement, none of this destruction would've happened. If that tornado would've come through one of the schools here in PR, much less would've been destructed. I'm just saying, when, when are they going to learn? Lives were lost!!! What is more important? A life, or they way they mandate to make houses? (that's if they do) So please don't talk to me about mandatory specifications to build houses!!!! And yes the underground shelters are important, but when a tornado hits you and you don't have time to go underground, if the houses were in cement, everything would be much safer.

Toby Keith has a net worth of around 80 Million dollars.
Instead of a quick tweet, it might be a little more helpful to his hometown if Mr. Keith sent a few of his dollars down there.

When rebuilding in Tornado prone area`s, look into round structures, they may not be the cheapest but will take a lot more then your conventional style structures.

In the future all schools should be built with basement shelters. We live and learn. And sadly, we die and learn.

It was mentioned 4th, 5th, & 6th graders were removed from the school, before the tornado hit. Why were the 3rd graders not taken out of the school????
